/rant Red Wings are lazy...and they suck! /rant -
My first reaction to this thread was absolute horror. NO, it's never a good thing when a player is hurt, we all know that. I don't even like to see a guy on the other team get hurt. I think you are missing something, though. There is a difference between improving the D because you recognize it's an issue, and needing to improve the D because you've lost some offense. The first is what needs to happen. If the staff doesn't recognize they need to improve defense, they won't. I think that would be a little far fetched right now (to assume they don't see need for improvement). If they can't improve defense with a healthy team, they aren't going to do it very easily because some offense is lost. Franzen is a talented player with great defensive skills, and that throws everything out of whack. The defense will improve, and I think there seems to be a chemistry issue, but it will be gradual and not because we've lost Franzen for 4 months. Just my opinion...

But that's not what you've been doing! You've been suggesting that he should be sent to GR. Bench him, trade him, anything to get rid of him. Try getting behind the team and it's players and show a little loyalty.
-
He's conspicuous by his absence, is he not? I was waiting for a post by Jake Ryan where he rolls over on everything he's said about Homer, and back-pedals so fast time actually goes backward.

http://www.nhl.com/ice/news.htm?id=501650 Although I'm no fan of Quinn's, I really don't blame him for what he said. He wasn't talkin' smack, just saying the way it used to be, and the way it is now. I've never liked Iginla at all, and I can't help but think he's just a big d-bag. Not just for the incident, but the way he tries to suck ass later when he explains it. This is just another example of the league trying to control what people think...imho.

I think the only part that I find shocking is that you haven't put Zetterberg and Datsyuk on every single line. Out of 9 lines, you only have these two players on 4. So far, you've got Holmstrom riding a lot of pine, and Z and D making up for that. What's going to happen Flip or Cleary have s***ty streaks? Put them on 5 or 6 lines? It's a team, two people can't carry the whole team or they will fall apart. Edit: spelling

Dude! Why does everything have to be about Holmstrom? Let it go. It's weird that no matter what the topic is, you manage to trash talk Homer. The guy plays in the NHL. Sure, there are better players, but there are worse players too. I'm thinking that on his worst day, he's still a better player than you. If you disagree with that: 1. I don't give a rat's ass. 2. Check out the uniform he wears (as opposed to your Mr. Clucky outfit) 3. Check out his contract...you know the one I'm talkin' about...it provides him with a lot of money

Once again...I'll type slower so maybe you can read it easier.... The thread is not about Homer bashing. You say Helm would be better, and I don't necessarily disagree with that 100%. You aren't giving arguments for Helm, rather arguments against Holmstrom. I agree that Homer may be getting too much ice time and slowing things down, but I'm not an NHL coach, and neither are you (are you?). We don't really get to see what goes on behind the scenes and in Babcock's head. My point is this. Knock off the Homer bashing and stick to the topic. Suggest a replacement and argue for it, not against Holmstrom. The negativity around here is just appalling, and you know the old saying about saying something nice, right?
-
Hmmm....
-
Helm for Holmstrom was said a long time ago. Since then, most of your posts have been about running Homer up the flag pole. That is not in the spirit of this thread. You've defended yourself at every turn, but you keep going back to the Homer bashing. I wonder how long the Mods will let you go on, distracting the thread, changing it's very topic....

As funny as this was to read, it's completely true. The league has an obvious bias towards some teams, and a few refs seem to run roughshod over many games. It seems to me, sometimes, that they take time to interpret rules to favor a team and sometimes just plain make s*** up. I was quite surprised last year when no Red Wings got a 5 minute major for "being mean to Cindy".
-
Actually, you need to stay on topic. Go back to the Original Post and read. Here, I've copied part of it for you: "this is not meant as another homer bashing thread, it is just a thread about (thinking about) maximizing the outcome (pointwise) of their (pasha, mule) skills." This thread is not about Homer or his level of play. If all you have to contribute is random thoughts and facts based on Homer, I think you should refrain from posting. Follow the rules and think you will still be messed up...sorry.

Pile of bulls***! It's like anyone could argue that there would be nobody interested in the Sedins if they weren't signed. At what point does thinking about a player become tampering? If two members of a team's management chat about someone, make notes, and let a comment slip while using adjacent stalls in the bathroom, this is considered tampering? This league is going to go down in history as one of the biggest jokes of all time. The players weren't contacted and neither was the team. If there is anyone that thinks the Sedins would go unsigned, they are a fool.

Ha ha! Now I know why the name Jake Ryan is so familiar. It's because I have kids!
-
Not to nit pick, but I think you've forgotten a variable for the measurement of Jake's lucidity, which is at best spotty. I know this throws a whole f***in' into the works since it is so unpredictable, but I'm trying to contribute.

Great? I think a bit of an overstatement or I think you would be there. I don't think I'd be great at the job, but sometimes I can pick out certain follies that others run with. The trick is to know when to stop running with those follies and admit that you made a booboo. Your booboo is not realizing that you are tiring out Helm part way through the second period of every game, causing a decline in his play throughout the season, and making him a no-show in the playoffs. While I agree that Helm is a good guy to have out there, "everything in moderation" seems to be a good policy. Edit: spelling

So, if Babs is on his way out, I seriously hope that there is someone else ready to take the position before this guy!
