injured Danny DeKeyser suffers broken thumb, out for playoffs

Oh, I think he was actually behind Getzlaf when he scored... So was he on the ice for the next two ducks' goals as well? -

Guys, does anyone know when exactly DeKeyser got hurt? Was it before or after Getzlaf scored? -
That's why there are more chances to get Semin than any canadian.

I have not seen the game, but I am sure Howi did a marvelous job again. One goal on 5 shots in first period, goal on 5 shots in second. Such a performance should definitely help the team to gain some confidence, especially come playoff time... Kiprusoff was just a little bit better, but everybody got used to this. We need to trade all forwards and keep Howi. He is the only bright spot... Not to mention that you cannot expect a shutout from a goaltender every game! He should feel great about himself. I hope we will never get a goalie better than what we have... I wish we would get a stud defenseman who would block all shots, and a couple of forwards who would never attack but stay in defense to make sure Howi will not need to save the team from a breakaway… Cheers!

We need a goaltender. Conklin is an impotent (as a player, i.e. cannot perform as a goaltender), Howard is a father. Even if you consider Howard a descent one to carry the team through the whole season, he may be able to get used to new home schedule (sleepless nights with newborn) by the start of the playoffs. But unfortunately by then most probably we will not need him since we will be out of it. Did you all notice that no matter who we play against, our goalie is always worse than another guy? And when finally he overplays his opponent (once or may be twice a year), we feel so proud, not to mention surprised… We always hope, believe. But it’s never a sure thing… I am just wondering why we cannot have the one who would be reliable at least 85% of the time? Don’t we finally have money to get one? Or we were waiting too long and now no one is available? All strong teams this year have good goalies and good backups… It is not possible to rely only on players when we all know that a goalie is half of the team, no matter how hard you try to forget about it.

Guys, who was better last night: Howard or Harding?
-
Are you serious? The #1 goalie on the Stanley Cup contender team should let 5 in on 20 shots? The good #1 should not let any in yesterday. The good goalie saves the team when it's in the funk. Who was better against the sharks, their or our goalie? Niemi. Who was better against the wild? Harding (not to mention that he is not #1). What I am trying to say is that we so got used to not having a decent goalie at all that when he stops two or three shots in a row we say that he did a terrific job! There are 30 teams in the league. Please call out the ones who have a less reliable #1 than we do.

Who do you think was better Howard or Niemi?

WE NEED A GOALIE! Yes, shi**y games always happen, but that's when you need a goalie to help you... There is no hope with the BS we have between the pipes...
-
You guys say whatever you want, and of course we can blame defense, offence, coaches, bad luck, bad weather, but until wings will get a GOOD goalie nothing will happen... Conklin is BS, Howard is close to it. WE HAVE NOT HAD A GOALIE FOR MORE THAN A DECADE NOW...

I hate to say it, but watching how the team plays since game 6 last year finals, tells me that there is some kind of conflict between players and the coach. The only explanation to the way they stopped playing yesterday after the first period (being 3:0 against Kings) is that they want to get rid of him. I will laugh my ass out, if canadian olympic national team will have two coaches, who were fired few weeks prior to the games... What do you think colleagues?
-
Now all wings can do is to lose next game 4:3 as well. It is the only thing they were consistent at in this series. Not to mention it probably will be the only thing to be proud about. Let's think about next season... Go wings!

Could anyone clarify for me the F.... rule. The puck clearly got into the net a second before the moron blew his whistle. Does the rule say that even if referee blows the whistle a minute after the puck crossed the line it is still not a goal? Thanks.

We don't have a golie. Let's face it. I knew it last year, and 10 years before that. We never had one. This is by far the biggest problem of the team. Every time we getting a cheep garbage, old completely expired stars, in order to save money for good offence... So what is the solution? Where to find a good but cheep one? Historically the best goltenders were in Sweden and Finland. That's where we need to look for them. Canadians and Americans have some good ones, but they are expensive. Russians and Czechs have one maximum two good ones every other decade so they are expenseve too, all others we will not even talk about. That is why Larsen is with no dout in my mind the best we have right now. Of course it's too late in the season to go to him and we need to use Conklin since he is our only chance... But next year Larsen should be the one to be tried for the # 1 position. If not, go and scout in Sweden of Finland. We will find a good one there.

It's a tie between Conklin and Ozzie!!! They both received 4!!!

Time to pull the golie...

Yes, it's 35 games into the season and that's what I see... Last year it was a rare occasion when the other team had more than 20 shots on goal. That was the main buzz about Detroit, right? This year I don't recall a game when it was less than 20 against us. And it's the same blue line, supposing the best in the league... Is it the coaching staff strategy? Or was the assistant coach doing more last year than the head one. As soon as McLellan left Wings play like Sharks and Sharks play like Wings... What's wrong with offence? Having the some players as last year plus MARIAN HOSSA, and they cannot score more than two point something goals a game? How can you expect to be in good shape, when you score only two, and let other team have around 30 shots? All wins with exception of 6:0 against Sharks, was one-goal, come-from-behind scenario. Will it really help to prepare for the playoffs, or it will exhaust mentally and physically to the point when nothing is left to compete? Looking at standings there is nothing to worry about, but I don't feel too confident, do you?

What about goals against? Last year we were on the top of the chart. Now, lets see... 105 by 35, equals 3... Not so good...

Wings will win if they don't pay attention to the score. Play, play and play. The problem is always the same... I am sick of it... They always up one or two goals, then the power play come and instead of trying to score more, playing aggressively with desperation, they just always relax and kill the time... That's what happened last game. It's 2:0, second period is half way through, penalty to Arnot, wings are doing nothing, just killing time. I already knew, that's it: after the successful PK Nashville will score a couple... It took 15 sec. after Arnot was out of the penalty box for Nashville to get on the board. That's where the momentum swing was. Datsyuk's goal stopped it a little but not for long... The coach cannot let them play this way during the PP. That was not the first time it happened... It happens on a regular bases! Why not to fix the damn problem? That is why sometimes I afraid more when they have PP then when they need to kill a penalty themselves. I just hope it will not repeat today...
