Chelios at new Meijer in Battle Creek today 9/16 at 5pm
pinkprincess027 replied to Hitchhiker's topic in General
I caught this with just enough time to make it to Battle Creek last night. Thanks for posting it! -
From the red wings site DETROIT – It was inevitable that Chris Chelios would return for a 25th NHL season, but it finally became official Tuesday afternoon when the 46-year-old defenseman signed a one-year deal with the Red Wings. His illustrious career dates back to the 1983-84 season when he skated in 12 games for the Montreal Canadiens. http://redwings.nhl.com/team/app/?service=...rticleid=381528

I am not sure what it is. I was looking at preseason tickets last night and saw it on ticketmaster. I did a search on the internet and didn't really find very much. I found that they have had one or two before one in 1994-1995 and possibly another one. In 94-95, the Wings welcomed fans back from the lockout with an open training camp--here in Detroit, so those of us who can’t afford to go to Traverse City could attend it--as well as a “fan fest” where anybody who attended could get their pictures taken on the Zamboni, see the NHL’s trophies, play bubble hockey with the players, and get autographs--I still have my Scotty Bowman, Dwight Foster, Ben Hankinson, Darren McCarty, Ray Lane, and Keith Primeau sigs, and I’m proud of that Hankinson autograph-- and there were open practices. http://www.kuklaskorner.com/index.php/hock...nt_organization But I have made plans to drive the three and a half hours to Detroit next weekend and go to Hockeytown Authentics, Cheli's Chili or Hockeytown Cafe, go to the fan fest, and if it's not great go shopping at the malls in the area or something. I figured it's Five dollars to get in so I would pay and see what it is.

I have always enjoyed hockey and each year have gone to a couple Kwings games in Kalamazoo, but never have watched it very often on tv, and when I did I let people distract me fairly easily. I did ask for Red Wings tickets for Christmas because I thought it would be much more fun to watch live but no one took me seriously. My dad got tickets to the Griffins in Febuary for the night McCarty first played in Grand Rapids, and took me. On the way there he told me a little about McCarty and I thought it was cool that he was trying to make a comeback so I was kind of excited. He got a hat trick during the game, and on the way home my dad told me a lot more about McCarty and his fight with Lemieux, I came home and started trying to find out as much as I could about McCarty, and also the Red Wings. A couple nights later Downey went after Laperriere after his hit on Lidstrom. I am pretty sure that after watching McCarty I was completly hooked because I liked his history of sticking up for his team mates and still being an ok player and was excited he got his hat trick that night. My dad and his friend told me like 10 times that it was the most hats they had ever seen on the ice before. Then I watched the Wings a few nights later on tv and was excited to watch Downey go after Laperriere, and then Babcock start yelling on the bench. Between McCarty, Downey, and my dad telling me more about McCartys past I was completly hooked.

have any of you ever written to NHL players?
pinkprincess027 replied to Holmstrom96Screens's topic in General
It says to the attention and to the care of so I think you do it the following way. ATTN: Pavel Datsyuk C/O Detroit Red Wings Joe Louis Arena 600 Civic Center Drive Detroit, MI 48226 I'm not sure that this is the correct way but it's pretty close to the way they want it done I don't think it should really matter to much. To me the site sounded like you should use both the ATTN: and C/O but I think it should be with out the C/O. I put the link to where it talks about it on the site below, about 3/4 of the way down the page. http://redwings.nhl.com/team/app?service=p...ge&bcid=261 -

From the Red Wings website I found the following How can I contact a player? To contact a player or to send fan mail, you may send your letter to that player's attention care of: Detroit Red Wings Joe Louis Arena 600 Civic Center Drive Detroit, MI 48226 Please do not send personal items of value to be autographed by the players. Due to the large volume potential of these requests, we cannot guarantee the safe return of your property. Autographed jerseys, photos, sticks, pucks, etc are available through the Red Wings Merchandise department. For a catalog, please send a request to the address above in care of "Merchandise". Another option and I think the best chance of getting any response from the player is to write to the mailbox thing they do online and hope they answer your question. Or you could just write something to them and maybe they would respond through that. The link to that is below. http://www.formspring.com/forms/?187759-PHsHJ0ZQC5 -
I have done search after search on the internet trying to find the shirt and called several places and have been unable to find it. I have not called immortal investments yet though where you can purchase the Bruise Brothers book from. There is no shirt on their site but I have been thinking about calling them. My other option is to go to house9project.com which is a charitable site that Downey appears to be part of and try to send them an email. Under the photos on there there are pictures of McCarty, Kocur, Downey and Downey's friend with the shirts on. I have several people watching for them for me too. If I find one I will be sure to let you know.

Hockeytown Authentics in Troy has a big binder of photos and you can purchase them for like $10 I noticed it as I was leaving last time and quickly glanced through it. There were many older pictures you could try calling them. I'm not really sure what they had. I recently finished the Bruise Brothers book that you can purchase from immortalinvestments.com It has maybe 8 pictures of each guy in it. Maybe you get one resized from that book or something. Those are the only things I can think of right now I will keep thinking though.

Does anyone have any ideas on who the new coach might be? After recently finishing the Bruise Brothers book the first person I thought of was Joey Kocur since he was video coach under Bowman and an assistant under Lewis. So he does have experience both on the ice and a little as coaching staff as well. Does anyone have any other ideas?

I have not been able to find a video of it but on iTunes you can download a podcast of Hossa and Holland. Much of what he says has been posted on Mlive several times but there is some that has not been posted yet. In iTunes its in the podcasts of Detroit Red Wings hockey. You don't have to download it to hear all of it but its free if you want to.

From Mlive: Quick update on the status of the Red Wings' free agents: I spoke today with Ken Holland, who said Andreas Lilja is officially signed. It's a two-year deal for slightly more than his previous $1 million salary. Holland is waiting to hear back from Brad Stuart's agent, Pat Brisson, after making the 28-year-old defenseman long- and short-term offers. He'll continue talking to Brisson tonight and right up until noon Tuesday, when free agency begins. If he isn't signed by then, he's more than likely gone. Holland and Chris Chelios agreed to wait a few days before signing a one-year deal. Holland said Chelios is definitely coming back. They just need to settle on a salary, which will depend on how active the Wings will be in free agency. He wants to sign both Darren McCarty and Aaron Downey but will wait until after the dust settles from free agency to see where they're at with their roster. This will give both an opportunity to find a better deal elsewhere. Ideally, he'd like both on two-way contracts. He spoke briefly with the agent of restricted free-agent forward Valtteri Filppula but doesn't expect any deal to materialize until later in the summer. http://www.mlive.com/redwings/index.ssf/20...years_stua.html

I too would like to purchase a shirt. I have spent a couple hours looking and have not found one. Does anyone know where to buy them?
-
I was in Hockeytown Authentics last weekend and the guy told me they are not out yet. There was a poster of Zetterberg with the cup there but no team photo yet. He didn't know when they would be getting them in.

I saw them at JC Penny

I read in an interview a month or two ago that McCarty planned to bring it to Grand Rapids. He seemed pretty confident they would win.

Where do the extra players sit when they aren't in the lineup?
pinkprincess027 replied to Datsyukgrl_in_ATL's topic in General
I am pretty sure that I have read they often work out in the locker room and watch the game on a tv in the locker room. I have also heard that some will sit in the press box to watch the game. -
redwings.nhl.tv or http://www.nhl.tv/team/console.jsp?catid=2 then on the right side you find the video you want to watch.
-
I thought I would add that the Griffins are also having a watch party for the game at Studio 28 in Grand Rapids. It is free. http://www.griffinshockey.com/newsstats/re...article_id=1071

On nhl.com you can watch the press conference at the end of each game I always get the link from the front page of the site.
