Barry Trotz turned into a Nancy

Here's TSN's take...interesting: http://watch.tsn.ca/nhl/clip45126#clip45126 I wish the officials would own up to their crap. In Game 1, the linesman said the puck didn't even hit him. Ridiculous! In Game 2, the ref CLEARLY says "the net was off" and that's why it didn't count...well, obviously the net was on, and the NHL's reason for the goal not counting was that it had been blown dead b/c the ref "intended to blow the whistle". WTF? If he blew it dead, fine, but why didn't he say so on the ice? If you mess up, own up to it! You didn't intend to blow the whistle...you insisted the net was off and you were wrong and the NHL is covering your ass. Geez.

Barry Trotz turned into a Nancy

I'm a Preds season ticketholder, and I'm actually starting to agree with you guys. I think Trotz was well within his rights to question the non-offsides call in Game 1, and our disallowed goal in Game 2 was ridiculous. Even the complaints about Holmstrom maybe interfering with Ellis are legit. It's not that I don't think what he's saying is legitimate...but at this point, I don't want to hear it. The refs made (or didn't make) the calls, and that's it. It's over. There's no point in bellyaching about it now. He should be focusing on the fact that Weber cleared the puck right into the linesman and Zanon misplayed the 2-on-1 in Game 1, and the fact that if our D had moved Holmstrom the hell out of Ellis' face instead of letting him stand there all alone we wouldn't have to worry about goalie interference. The Preds have MUCH bigger problems than the refs, and I'm annoyed that Trotz is wasting time on things that aren't within his control. And whoever said Trotz will be gone at the end of this series, I wish. He's here at least for next year b/c we made the playoffs with a much worse team than last year. The time to fire him would've been at the end of last season, when we couldn't win a series with the most stacked roster we've ever had. I still think that if Leipold hadn't been selling the team, Trotz would be long gone by now. But Leipold didn't want to deal with getting a new coach...why would he? Ugh. Don't worry guys, Trotz will give you the best chance to win this series. He'll make our players get permission to fight, not allow Toots to be as physical as he wants, not allow Rads to be as offensive as he wants, continue to put worthless Arnott and Dumont on the first line together, and not adjust our strategy whatsoever no matter how much it's not working. Lucky.

Trotz says that Z's goal shouldn't have counted

OK, y'all are going a little overboard with this. Maybe I missed something but I haven't heard any mention of the play from Trotz or anyone else today. The comment he made about it was last night right after the game, when a reporter asked him about it. I haven't seen any indication that Trotz or anyone else on the team is still talking about it today. In fact the only quote I can find right now of any player saying anything about it at all is Ellis: "He [the linesman] denied everything. What a beauty. He said he didn't have any contact with it. But it is what is. You can't do anything about it. I think our guys kind of let up because they thought the puck was out (of the Nashville zone), but there are no excuses." What's wrong with that? Doesn't sound like anyone is hung up on it to me. A reporter asked Trotz the question last night, and he answered it. End of story. What he said wasn't even controversial or contentious enough to be considered "whining" IMO. He gave his opinion on the play. That's what the reporter asked for. Nashville can't win a series b/c we make stupid defensive decisions, don't shoot enough, lose important faceoffs, don't play physical enough, can't connect more than two passes in a row, and our top players are invisible. "Not being able to get over it" has nothing to do with it.

Trotz says that Z's goal shouldn't have counted

Hey guys...Preds fan visitor here. I have to say, I'm impressed that so many of you admit that the call may have been wrong. I'll admit that I don't know if it was or not...in Nashville we didn't have access to an HD feed, so from the replay I saw it was pretty tough to tell. I do think that, offsides or not, normally the linesman should blow the whistle in such a situation. That's what usually happens. It annoys me that it was the game-winning goal, and it annoys me that the linesman tried to tell Suter that the puck didn't even hit him (a blatant lie obviously). That being said, I'm not THAT mad about it b/c you guys completely outplayed us in every facet of the game and we deserved to lose anyway. We had been playing with fire all night up until that point...it was only a matter of time till we got burned. Your puck possession is phenomenal and your passing is crisp and ours sucks. So, unless we learn to connect some tape-to-tape passes and our number one line starts remotely playing as good as yours, it's gonna be a tough series for Preds fans. It's just funny to come on here and read all the posts about Trotz whining...Preds fans get mad at him ALL the time b/c he NEVER argues with the refs. We're always wanting him to go ballstic for once in his life...but he just chews his little scorecard and hardly says anything. So it's kinda funny to see other teams' fans getting mad at our coach for doing something that Nashville fans think he never does. I don't even think he was complaining about it...someone asked him about it, and he answered the question. He was advocating for his team, and ANY coach would do the same. Any coach that "just gets over" a call like that isn't a good coach.
