  1. No team would want to play the Wings in the playoffs, especially if let's say we go 8th seed and San Jose stay 1st then we'll do the biggest upset ever (maybe not ever, but you get my point)

Wings in finals against Jersey or Bruins, that's for sure

  2. What makes more sense (assuming Lidstrom retires) -- theoretically replacing Lidstrom with Kovalchuk and having a 38-year old Osgood manning the net or using Osgood as a backup to a 30-year old Luongo?

Having Lidstrom, Kovalchuk, Ozzy & Luongo?

    Ha! Seriously.

Lidstrom will not retire until his early/mid 40's. He's too good in a shape to do so! And, when you think about it, why have Luongo? So much money for the same results as having a less than 1mil goaltender in Conks? Because, be realistic, just because Luongo is in the line-up, Babs will change his goalie rotation system? I think not. So even if he was with the Wings, he'd play as many games as Ozzy, and have to leave the pipes to Conks (or Howard, or Time Tomas? )

So then, a lot of money for 35 - 40 games? Good luck with that.

    Now, to Kovalchuk ...

Give all the money the man wants, he's as good as 150 points with Detroit

  3. We all know that Holland is the master in the GM world. He can do anything.

    So think about it ...

Trade Howard for a young player (or again, good draft picks), to be able to take Hossa's place on the top line. Even if we have Leino, Abde or Helm, I'm not quite sure that they'll make it to the skill of Hossa, or to be able to play on the first line for that matter. So? Not Hossa, no Howard, but we get young, exiting players that can get the job done?

I don't know about you guys, but having Kyle Turris (fictional example) get's me more happy than knowing that we we have Marian Hossa.

  4. If any one is wondering, Montreal was "rumored" to be willing to give up a lot for Vinny. But like ... a lot:

    Plecanec

    Higgins

    Georges

    Subban

    Draft picks

Now ... someone tell me: Montreal is willing to give up their upcoming defensive elit player, two very talented centers, a well developed, young d-man and future draft picks for one single player? That is not even sure to be used as a core player? Damn.

  5. Does a "C" really mean "Please, stay!"

How many times have we seen a captain get the boot? Vancouver, please? New York Rangers, with Jagr? I mean, even Montreal wouldn't hesitate to trade away their beloved "Captain K" for some draft picks or a few sticks ...

I'm telling you, if Ilya doesn't leave Atlanta now, he'll loose market value big time. Leave while your still worth a few good draft picks and some good forwards, friend!

  6. Yeah but you know, for some reason I really think the whole European player team is the best for Mo-Town. Common, who seriously needs Canadian players (no offense, I like them as much as the next guy) when we have Homer that can play as good as them? We have the Euro-Twins locked up for a few years, let's just built the team around them and not look for someone to replace them.

  7. We talk and talk about Stamkos, but what about who he's surrounded by? Look at the TB team this year and the head coach.

Thank you, now you all understand why Stamkos isn't playing at the leve that everyone believed he would. Now, to Tavares. It would be a scarier scene if he would end up in Detroit for two reasons:

1 - How badly would we have to slump to finish so low to get the first draft pick?

2 - What would we have to give up to get that first draft pick?

  8. But, isn't there a rule that says than no matter the number of votes, there has to be at least ONE player to represent each team? I know last year there was no one for Colorado, but that was a fluke because the player did not want to play. But ... could Datsy, Z or Liddy actually say no to a invitation?

  9. If we do follow Pittsburgh's lead and use our WC jerseys, tell me, after how many home games are we going to wear them? Are we going to do like Montreal and only use them once every 35 games? Seriously, as nice as they were, we would never use them.

  10. Geez, Wings and the desire to have Goalies that are old enough to be my parents. Ain't right man, Jimmy/Ozzi combo is solid, good and perfect. I mean, no offence to Oli the Goalie, but move on, get traded. Tampa is calling your name...
