Just watched nhl on the fly and according to Craig Button, Mike Babcock says Hossa hopes to be able to make the trip to play the Avs tomorrow. If this is true I think it will be the best news we got all year. Hossa is the Wings best offensive player. What a relief, it could of been so much worse.

I really hope the Wings get a goalie before the trade deadline. What goalies are out there right now, that are quality goaltenders do you see the wings possibly getting. I have heard rumors about aquiring Toskala from the Maple Leafs and after seeing him stand on his head playing the Rangers last week, I would be thrilled if they got him. So what do you think?

Quick update from Joe Louis Arena: Chris Osgood talked to reporters after practice for the first time since the team announced last Friday that it was shutting him down for a mental recharge. Osgood will get his first start Friday -- at home against the L.A. Kings -- since a 6-5 shoot-out loss to Colorado on Feb. 15. Osgood said he “talked with the right people” and had “great practices” with goaltending coach Jim Bedard. “I feel great,” Osgood said. “Had a good break on the weekend.” Osgood said time off was planned. “I read stuff and hear stuff, and it’s so far from the truth, sometimes it angers you. But you can’t really say anything about it,” he said. “I know what’s going on. Jimmy B knows what’s going on, Ken Holland knows what’s going on, (Mike Babcock) knows what’s going on.”

If Osgood continues to struggle do you think the Wings would have Conklin start the playoffs. Or do you think they will give Ozzy the benefit of the doubt and let him start, since he was so great last year and he has plenty of playoff experience?

I say Ovechkin, he doesnt make what he is worth. He is the ultimate player and the Caps have him locked up long term, good for them

Conklin is second in the league in shutouts, has been playing very well as of late and has played much better than osgood all season. Why don't the Wings just let him play, have osgood start every 5th game, Conklin has been the better goalie and has earned the top spot.

Being a Red Wing fan in NY all I ever hear from friends and the media is how good the Rangers are. They Say Lundquist is the best goalie in the league, they have so many good players and they are the team to beat in the east. Now they have lost 4 in a row including 10-2 vs Dallas the other night. Ranger fans are extremely arrogant, atleast the ones I know and when ever I go to a Wings Rangers game and the Wings are winning, all fans around me do is rip on what a terrible city Detroit is! Somehow making fun of the city of Detroit makes them feel better, I cant stand the Rangers and all their fans!!! Hopefully they will continue to spiral down. Anyone else have dislike for the Rangers, or am I the only one?

I always new Hossa was a good player but really never watched him play till last year in the finals. Getting to watch him this year is a treat. I think he has the best wrist shot in the game and is one of the best skaters around. I still cannot believe how fast he is for being a big guy. I love Franzen but if it came down to being able to sign either Franzen or Hossa, I would have to go with Hossa. I think Hossa is the best offensive player in the west and I would love to see a line with Hossa, Datsyuk, and Zetterberg. Hossa was by far the best pick up in the offseason and is worth every penny!

I love Osgood and he was outstanding last spring, but the fact is he has been horrible this year and is not showing any signs of getting better. Conklin has looked pretty bad as well, so the Wings really need to go out and get a goalie, or atleast bring up Howard from the minors. How many more games can we be giving up 4 plus goals until it catches up with us. Maybe Hasek can un-retire again!

Does anyone besides me think that Howard should get a chance to start soon? Face it Osgood has been pretty bad so far and Conklin started off well, but latley he hasnt been much better than Ozzy. It seems the perfect time to try and shake things up and let Howard get a chance to prove himself. In the past Howard has always played well when he got his chance and who knows he could turn around the high g.a.a for the wings. Howard is not getting any younger and I think now is the time to see what he can do. Anyone agree?

I have frequently seen many negative posts on Samuelsson, mostly about how bad he is. This year Samuelson is 43rd overall in the league in points and has looked very good to me. Samuelsson seems to be a bright spot in the roster so far and hope he can keep it up. You guys think he will keep up the good play?

I keep reading posts here about how Maltby should be benched in order to give some of the younger guys a chance to play. Someone even wrote Maltbys game went away ever since the lockout. Do people not realize that teams dont win championships without role players such as Maltby. Maltby is a fantastic pentaly killer, and is an asset to have play on the 4th line. Maltby has experience and knows what it takes to win, and for this reason alone should always be in the lineup. Maltby should not be taken for granted, he is still an important part of this wings team!

I am always arguing with my friends as to who is the best player in the league. Most will say either Crosby or Ovechkin, although I think Zetterberg is better than Crosby. Anyway I am always the only one who thinks Lidstrom is the NHL's best player. I think just because Lidstrom is a defensemen people rule him out of being the best player in the league, since most people think about offense first. Does anyone agree with me that Lidstrom really is the best player in the league?

Maltby in my opinion is one of the most underated players in the league, just like Draper is. I think that Maltby deserves and has earned the honor of being an assistant captain. I realize that hes not as talented as Draper, Zetterberg or Dats, but I think he is the best role player in the game. He is great at killing penalties, and is a great team player. Since they got him in 96, he has been a key player in all the championships. I think he and Drapes should take turns much the way Zetterberg-Datsyuk switch with Draper wearing the A. What do you guys think, Maltby derserves the A?

Just wondering what everyone thinks will be the offensive line combinations, or wish what the line combinations will look like this upcoming season.....heres mine 2 cents.... Line 1: Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Holmstrom. Line 2. Hossa, Fillpula, Franzen Line 3. Cleary, Hudler, Draper Line 4. Maltby, Helm, Kopecky I am sure a lot of people will say Hossa should be on the first line, but I think the line of Datsyuk, Zetterberg, and Homer was the best in the league last year, so I would keep it as is to start the season anyway. What do you guys think!!!

If McCarty and Downey both leave, or dont play in that many games, who would are fighter be. Does Brad Stuart drop the gloves at all, or you think the Wings would bring up some tough guy in the minors. Remember last season the Wings didnt have D Mac, Downey, or Drake and they didnt win. I think its important that the wings have someone that can stand up for his teamates.

This was a great deal.... First off I dont think hes being overpayed, but even if he was, I think its worth it to keep him as a Red Wing. He certainly has a great chance of being a great player

Hey, does anyone know where I can find the one ice team photo after the wings won the cup, as a poster. I have the one from 2002 and can find that on various websites, but not the 2008. Any help would be greatly apprieciated : )

Did anyone else get sick of tired of NBC trying to sell Crosby and make him the center of attention no matter what. I remember in game 2 the Wings are up 3-0 and that idiot inbetween the benches is going on how Crosby is so good and how hes really battling. It seemed they would never give the Wings credit and even when the Wings are winning, its still mainly about Crosby. Crosby is a great player, but I dont think he would be as great a player if he didnt have the refs all on his side and the entire nhl association pulling for him to do well so the Nhl could get back to being a prime sport. The Wings have in my opinion 3 of the top 5 players in the world (Lidstrom, Zetterberg, and Datsyk) and I think Lidstrom is a better player than Crosby, plus hes not a whiny, bitchy cry baby like Crosby is. Maybe if NBC wasnt so favorsim towards the Pens and Crosby, the games would be much more enjoyable to watch.
