These seem to have been put up on YouTube within the last week. Nice walk down memory lane for those that watched them then (like me). Nice to see the old guys in their prime. Also, reminds me why I miss Gary Thorn. Another - Good comparison.

I have DVD's made of the 1997, 1998, 2002, and 2008 finals and the Thorn ones are enjoyable to see and hear, no matter how many times I do. I have hardly watched the 2008 again, because it feels like a funeral. There is no, none, zip excitement. I don't know if it is the announcers just so sad Pitt was losing or what, but there is no joy.

It was Shanny. It was at Carolina. Game 3 IIRC. And the announcers were having a great time with it (God I miss those guys, compared to what we get now). Remember Dumb and Dumber (the two guys dressed up in was it peach and green suits). LOL

I picked mine up this weekend. Overall it felt like they were more interested in dragging out the losses in various series versus the wins. And where was the Hasek slide into Gaborik?!! Finally, a piddling complaint, but it bugs me greatly. NHL, LET THE %$#$ GO OF MY DVD PLAYER!!! Gad I hate it when you can not zip past or go to menu, so they can force you to watch their commercials. Hey DVD manufacturers. Who the hell thought that was a good idea?

Steve Yzerman's introduction before game 3, 1997 SCF. I remember Mitch Albom saying how the roof of the joe was raised off it's hinges. My video of the game still gives me goosebumps. OBTW, agree with those above as well. I loved ole Dougie Brown. And Gary Thorn screaming his name. LOL. I miss Gary Thorn!

I thought he played better as the playoffs progressed and was outstanding in the finals. I wonder if separating him from Chelios helped. Chelios is his hero and maybe not worrying he would screw up in front of his hero, relaxed him more. Very proud of his work.

I am really so happy for Mac. I hope him all the best, hope he gets even better and plays again for us. More than fighting, I loved the way Mac would take care of his players. Guys running on Kozzy would find Mac in their face. I was watching the 2002 finals the other day and just as they are going to break, you see the camera on Lidstrom and Brind'Amour, and Rod is getting in Lids face (over nothing, just trying to get lids off his game, after the whistle). In comes a racing Mac, with a look on his face I will never forget, grabs Rod's sweater and spins him around to "talk" to him. You could just read the "what the f**k do you think your doing?" incredulous statement by Mac. Unfortunately then they cut away. But you got to love Mac.

Re-watching the 1997 and 1998 finals really made me appreciate Rouse. I was sad to see him go. He added a surly toughness and team support guy you want. I thought we were really going places when we got CuJo, but he seemed to only play his best against the wings. Must be why he was so chippy in 2002 in the playoffs. Nobody seemed to be madder at the wings than him. LOL

+1 milllion. Stevie is still the #1 wing for me too. I hope he is in the parade today, but I doubt it.

What a difference in sound from NBC to CBC. All you hear on the NBC feed are boos. You hear chears on the CBC. Must be all the NBC exec's booing. LOL

The CBC feed from directly above clearly shows Ozzie getting run into in the chest/shoulder, next to the net that could easily knock someone over, especially if they are not expecting it. Would rather have seen Ozzie pop back up and go after him, but there you are. And for all the talk about how tough Lilja is, he sure did a whole lot of nuthin about his goalie being run into. Don't particularly care for Foote, but he would not have let that go unanswered.

I read that the other day. I went and looked at the other writeups on the Pittsburgh papers and not one of them would give an honest appraisal of the goonery. Sad. Don't want to lose their access to the team I guess. Very sad.

If the defense and Ozzie can withstand the onslaught from the Pens during the first period and a half, without giving up more than one goal, they have a legitimate shot of winning. If the Wings can score 2 goals before the Pens score one, its done. We have seen the Wings totally dominate and then lose a couple of games. Would not surprise me, but I hope it doesn't happen.

How pathetic by the league. Pay attention Babcock. If the league is going to sanction that BS, then it's time to put in full motion. Teach the boys how to legally drive the goalie out of the way, and we should get 12-15 goals a game! Hell, the league wants more scoring to get the viewers, this idiotic sanction should do it!
