  1. Lets see how the NHL handed out penalties to the RedWings. Game 1 - 7 Game 2 - 9 Game 3 - 4 Game 4 - 2 Hunh, look at that, the NHL can say to anyone that swallows their drivel, "Geez, we treated the RedWings fairly. They only averaged 5.5 penalties per game!" Course, we are supposed to ignore that they didn't call any penalities when the series was out of reach for the Coyotes. Now lets play the over under for Game 1 for the next series. Let's go with 6. So over or under? (I know, this can vary based on whether the Wings are ahead or behind, but lets have some fun with the most corrupt major sport).

Over/under on penalties for first game of round 2?

Hunh, look at that, over. What a surprise. Not. Ok, next game more important. The over/under is up to 7. Mock if you will, but I am right.

    Barry on ESPN

http://espn.go.com/nhl/ Check out melrose on video and on the podcast below it. He's going Wings all the way. Felt the Wings veterans feel they let Pitt off the hook and want to close it tonight.

Why can't anyone simply state this?

http://espn.go.com/nhl/ Listen to what Barry says in the "Game 5 highlights" about how big Datsuk was. He sees how important he can be. (I know many of you dislike him, but listen anyway).

    MVP - Ozzie or Hank

Absolutely agree. Ozzie deserves it. Not saying the other players have not been huge, but for overall MVP of the playoffs for the Wings, it's Ozzie.

The Hossa 'slash' (Dupuis broke his own stick)

Apparently they did. Not surprising. LOL Pretty obvious they were losing their argument. First proved it wasn't a slash, then they proved it wasn't a hook (stick on stick). Easier to destroy the evidence then let that damn logic get in the way. That place is a joke. I prefer the HF board. http://www.thepensforum.com/cgi-bin/yabb2/...=1243880794/0#0 They deleted the a large portion then deleted the entire thread. Hockey "fans". LOL

The best post from over there. Ah Steeler bandwagon fans. :rotflmao:

    Wings MVP so far?

I really want to vote for Ozzie, but right now, I have to go Franzen. But it ain't over yet.

Which of These Players Will be the Next to Score a Goal?

Hossa. He seems more flustered by not scoring and is shooting more. Bound to go in, talent is too great to keep missing.

    Sorry to say but....

See, this is a terrible attitude to me. Stick your head in the sand and let them get away with as much crap as they want as long as we somehow pull it out. It doesn't hold them accountable and NEXT time, we may lose because we didn't raise holy hell. "We" as in RedWings management. The NHL is giddy because they got away with letting the Ducks do virtually anything they wanted, just to keep them in the series and keep it interesting. Now the national media is saying, "what a great series!" BS. The Wings would have won this series in 5 games, going away, if the reffing was anywhere based on reality.

Mike Ilitch Voted Best Owner in NHL

Hey! That is lovingly known as "Little Creatures". But I still like the pizza and am thrilled to have an owner so different than WC Ford.

Why do you like the Red Wings?

Heredity. My father was a fan of the wings going back to his days in North Dakota in the 40's. Took me awhile to get hooked up, but when we started getting the games regularly on TV in the 80's/90's around Lansing, I started watching. Hockey is probably the one sport that I like to watch, even if the home team is not playing. Always exciting and fast paced. I believe in supporting the local team (Michigan teams) so the Red Wings are my team. I am very lucky to have a team that is so good for so long.

    chris chelios last game?

I don't know about that. Lebda has played very well. I don't think Lilja would/should come in for him.

Wings good at trading away duds

And is now teamed with Chara at Boston (at least from what I saw). He has done well for himself.

2/27 GDT: Kings 1 at Red Wings 2

I don't generally agree on many things here but the clearing the fricking zone has become a lost art to the this team. "Lets bat the puck to each other in our own zone during a PK. Aww gee them having more players on the ice, they took it away, again." Dammit, what was so wrong about making them come back 200 ft each time we get the puck? Wings are much better through the neutral zone in disrupting play when on the PK, than when they inevitably let the player get the puck against the boards (must be taught to do that, not fight for the puck), and then hope they don't make a nice pass for another point blank shot on our goaltenders. It would be interesting to see what the percentage of time Detroit spends in their own zone on the PK versus other teams. It might reflect on why our PK has sucked so much this year. Saw some good punts of the puck at rare times tonight. God I miss how Murphy was such a master at that. Just not encouraged and used enough anymore. And, I love Stewart, but that goal was all on him tonight. "Your not Lids! Take the body not play with your stick and he doesn't get half a dozen wacks at the puck!". Anyway, excellent play Ozzie, keep it up. Luckily the Kings sucked tonight too, cause you got hung out to dry way too many times.

Well that was craptastic. At least they should be well rested for the game and the game tomorrow as they took that period off. Jebus.

Dandenault askes to be traded out of Montreal

I agree. IIRC Scotty never cared much for Dandy but I never understood why. He worked hard, played well at both ends. It's been a long time since he was here and I don't know if he has the same speed and energy, but if he does, he would fit in well. IMHO, Meech has been terrible (clear the damn puck!). And Lebda has looked very good this second half of the season. I wouldn't want to rely on Meech in the playoffs if someone gets hurt.

    Remember Aaron Ward?

Well, now I understand why he was so angry and vicious toward his old teammates in the 2002 finals. Letting out some frustration with Scotty. Must have been tough in the handshake line.

    Top 3 All Time Antagonists

Boy, just 3 is tough. Fraud Lemeiux - I remember another game where he spent the entire game going after Kozie (remember little Kozlov, I loved that little guy). McCarty is out there on one scrum and can't get to Lemeiux because some damn linesman wouldn't let go, and Fraud just kept crosschecking Kozie (during the scrum, the little coward). McCarty was so hot and I wanted to climb through the TV. Well I don't know if anyone else remembers that but it is burned into my brain. Ott - Whiner extrodinaire and such a tough guy, against other non-tough guys. The entire Av team in the 6-0 wipe out in the playoffs, when they resorted to continuos 2 handed slashes (when will the refs get the balls to just keep sending players to the dressing room, until the other team can field just one player. Tootoo is a pain in the ass, but at least he doesn't run away from a fight.
  21. +1 Absolutely. Slippery slope and then it becomes interpretation. Easier just to slam the door on it. And better to, too.

Bettman is going to lose die hard fans

This is my biggest pet peave right now. I was watching other games and it's just as bad. If he is not impeding his progress, then stop calling these rediculous hookings. Let em play!

End of the Road for Two Veterans?

I agree. If we could get some multi-goal leads and wins, then Babs has the discretion to roll all 4 lines equally. When your scratching for every win, the best players, play. Lets see what happens when the D finally gets going. Then check out their times and see if he still has little faith in them.

A case for #91 in the rafters?

When I go and look at the tapes of the 1997. 1998, and 2002 playoffs and how Feds played his butt off, I am still amazed at his tenacity and skill. Put it up there, he deserves to be remembered as an integral part that brought Stanley back to Detroit.
