I have to agree with you here Skacore. I wonder where are all the Downey haters are that were on here last night?
-
I caught that too, probably meant Sweden.
-
Probably not used to playing on a line with the skill level of Pavs and Franzen

I would love to see Big Rig as a third pairing in the playoffs.

Read some of his posts.... he has no clue.

He looked like a wreck when they showed him in the box, these guys are warriors, but the last thing they want to do is put someone in the hospital.

Unfortunately, you may be right if it's as bad as it looks.

Not a good sign

Not to split hairs UK but you've listed pounds which would make is US salary in dollars roughly $700K, which is a little high ... At any rate, I agree with you, I unfortunately don't see Aaron around next year and this is coming from a guy that loves him some Downey.

Kudos for Lil's, but he did get his dinner handed to him. However that fight does make Weber look like an ass. He didn't really adhere to the code there, he clearly had Lilja dazed and on his knees, this is where most guys would back off, but he kept trying to wail away even after the linesman intervened. Show some class dick, if Lil's cheap shotted somebody or had it coming to him that's one thing, but this was a heat of the moment battle. I hope Downey gets to go a round with Shea when the teams meet again on the 29th, though he'll probably be back in GR by then. edit: spelling

Brendan Morrison, Gary Roberts and Miroslav Satan all waived
ManLuv4Clears replied to Heaton's topic in General
Yes he did, I was at the game in October. I had no idea who he was before that game, but he was noticable on the ice and throwing his weight around. I wonder why NY would waive him, perhaps to make room for Avery? -
Greetings, welcome, and great post. You'll find that this topic is like beating a dead horse around here and you'll go 'round and 'round with people. A good majority of posters pro enforcer or not you will find to be very knowledgeable and respectful. I take the stance of having at least one player in the line-up to keep the other team in check, kind of like the grind line of the past. However, you will find the occasional poster that screams the following arguments: 1.) Enforcers are useless because they don't play in the playoffs 2.) I want a fourth liner that can get 20 goals a season 3.) The team is the same as last year (mind you not even considering Drake as a loss) 4.) Because you are pro-enforcer you want a team full of goons These are the posters you want to avoid because it will get you no where. Good luck and again, welcome!!

Awesome post sir!

I'm going to go ahead and leave your section bolded for you and respond to that. You claimed earlier that you have a plethora of hockey knowledge, which I'm not here to argue, however you do have quite a disconnect with what teams are supposed to get production wise out of their 4th line players. 4th line players are their to bump, hit, grind, and be responsible defensively while chipping in with the occasional goal or fight if necessary. I'd love to come to your fantasy world were every 4th liner is getting 40 points a season .

Interesting move, looks like management is deciding to bring up some meat to try and light a fire under the teams' ass. After the beating on the scoreboard on Saturday and Lil's getting dropped it might be a smart move. It's obvious that Leino and Helm will be back come playoff time, but the regular season can be a grind and there's nothing wrong with rotating the role players.

Dat's gets a cross check to the head early in the game and now this to Hossa. I'm so tired of seeing this team get run all the time.

Shelley going after Sammy, what a joke, and somehow they get matching minors.

Is it time to make some major moves for this year's playoff run?
ManLuv4Clears replied to boomer's topic in General
If Drake could and did (I shouldn't say alone because I think Stewart helped), I would be willing to bet that Neil would as well and probably more so. -
I hope your gut feeling is right, because it wouldn't hurt to have a little spark before playoff time. Standing pat may not be in the team's best interest.

QFT. Another typical LGWer response, copying and pasting stats from Wiki and thinking they are be all end all without knowing anything about the player. Anyone who knows anything about Chris Neil knows that on top of being able to scrap he brings other intangibles that currently aren't represented on the current 4th line. These type of assets that were brought to the table by Drake last year are no where to be found this season. -
So is leaving beause you're arrogant and selfish worse that leaving a winning team for more money? Either way, I respect players like Rafalski more, and that being said, could care less if Feds ever gets into the hall of fame.`

See a Mr. Lapointe and a Mr. Fedorov. Their respective careers didn't really sky rocket when they left for the mighty dollar. I can't help but wondering if players that do sign at the hometown discount factor situations like that into their decision.

I hope you're right and that the aforementioned players do fill that role player void. Cleary and Helm can and probably will. I'm still not sold on Draper and Maltby, but hopefully they turn it up. As for D-Mac, I have a feeling he's already played his last game for the Wings.
