That's what I was thinking, so not necessarily the end of the world. A little Downey action would be nice too.

97.1 is reporting that Homer is going to be out 3-5 weeks with sports hernia surgery. Will look for an official link. edit: Mods, please delete or merge with other related thread. Thanks.

Need to get Hudler/Franzen signed long term.

I'm very happy with this solution. /thread -
Beat me to it, I was trying to determine how bad goaltending contributes to SOG.

Pavel's priceless.... Who's going to win the Superbowl? Manchester United.
-
Sucks for Aaron, I thought he showed last night that he's more of an asset than a liability. As others mentioned it's probably more of a move to see how the kids can compete in the big show. Keep your head up #44 you were voted player of the game by the fans for a reason.

FAIL. The Joe was selling out in the "Dead Wing" era, ie the 80s, because of players like Yzerman, Probert, Burr, and Gallant. Yzerman was loved soon after he was drafted and was adopted as a hockey idol. I'd love for you to elaborate on how Detroiter's learned to love #19.

Here is a Bingo, Detroiters gravitate to blue collar players that are rough and tumble and play with their heart on their sleeve. Like the above mentioned. These two players were key thru the regular season to solidify a cup run and people so easily forget this.

Call me crazy, but the Wings are missing a Dallas Drake type player this year. A hungry vet that will do anything including sacrifice his body for the team and a win.
-
He hustled, worked hard, no major or minor mistakes or give aways, and the fans loved him. The one thing I noticed that stood out is the way the team as a whole played tougher. As ESAD mentioned Val was throwing blows sticking up for himself as was Pavel. The team seemed to play with a little more of a chip on their shoulder. This was probably also due to going to 4-0 early on and still have to take nonsense from the Dallas players.

Crowd was electric tonight, probably because they hate fighters and people that stick up for their teammates.

Crowd cheering for Downey... nice.
-
YAY DOWNEY!!!!! Hopefully he gets in tonight. Ott just shart his pants. Hit away Kronner, hit away.
-
Yeah who cares what the fans think , maybe this is why the game is in shambles versus where it was in the early 90s.

1/27 GDT: Red Wings 2 at Blue Jackets 3 (OT)
ManLuv4Clears replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
My thoughts. Hard fought game by the Wings without 3 star players and a solid D-Man. Nash is a beast. The loss was NOT Ozzie's fault. He had some good saves throughout the game. Kopecky IS a *****, I would have taken a couple punches to get the oppsing team's #1 D-Man off the ice for five minutes, why can't he? Lastly, you can't win them all, Wings still come away with a point, but dammit I had a 3 team parlay going Bruins-Sharks-Wings at 4X odds and my team fails me. That's what I get for a heart bet . -
Don't forget the Drake, who's stepped into his shoes this year?
-
Well SWF, I guess I can knock him down to 95% in my book.

Bettman suspends Lidstrom, Datsyuk 1-game each
ManLuv4Clears replied to Reds4Life's topic in General
I was just wondering if maybe they were under the impression there was an exemption for injuries. -
True, but it would still go down a little. At this rate, this day will come. I'd like to see the effect on attendence if fighting were toincrease. I think we would all be a little suprised how much that may help attendance. I do know Bettman would cry in the fetal position in the corner of his bedroom if this happened.

I agree with your point, but Bettman makes me hate him exponentially by the day. As Doug just mentioned on 97.1 too, who knows where Pavel and Nick even are right now with a week off. They may have gone to the motherland to see family and now they have to try and change plans to get back to Montreal. -
What a joke, just wait until a ref jumps in at the wrong time and takes one upside the skull and gets knocked the f' out. What is the leauge going to do then. The OHL is going to have to realize this is a horrible rule.
-
Yeah, and to take this to a new level the other GM's should not only veto this, but vote to take down the instigator rule as well. That would have Kenny in a real bind eh?
-
Wow, I actually agree with Burke on something. Horrible idea by Campbell. When fighting was more prevalent the game, it seemed like there were less Steve Downie's of the world taking 16 strides and then jumping at an unsuspecting opponent’s head. There was justification for actions like that and people would have his head every game, hence not making him last long in the big show. Then comes the instigator penalty, which doesn't allow retaliation without consequence for cheapshots. Now considering banning fighting completely? Bad move. As others have posted, watch the cheap shots increase. Do these "executive decision makers" that seem to think that fighting deters fans from coming to the game or believe that if they take it out it won't affect the fan base ever been to a minor league game?

I'm biased towards heart and attitude, so with that said it would be Dats hands down. Feds ruined it for me with his half ass attitude during his prime.

Very heartwarming story, but also very sad to read that both sister and brother suffer from cystic fibrosis. I could never imagine what that family has to fight thru.
