Couldn't agree with this post more. I think old Gary really needs a reality check about the bolded part.

Unfortunately, he's right. I only listen to 97.1 and 1130 and neither one of them give a ton of coverage to the Wings, is the s***ty Lions roughly 75% of the time on 1130 and 90% of the time on 97.1. If it's the offseason, they talk about draft picks and coaching, during season it's the games and everything that surrounds them. You actually grow to hate the Lions more because that's all that people talk about.

Good post and Skacore get's the post of the day with his above.
-
To take this a step further, how many cups have they won without these type players (Downey's, Drake's and McCarty's of the world) as part of the line up?...... 0 Again, just reading the facts...
-
That's a bummer. 97.1 though the flagship station for the Wings barely talks about them. You might get some mention from Karsch and Anderson, but for the most part that station rambles on and on about everything related to the sorry ass Lions. Talk about bringing down an already hurting city. edit: Website down too, just a redirect page.

Okay Opie, you're normally a pretty respectable poster, so I'll refrain from jumping on your case. But, have you even read the correspondance between YG's posts and mine. There isn't a single spot where either one of us were bitching about Hudler's production or anything about him in general. He responded to my point where I said I don't think Huds would be as productive on another team that doesn't have the talent around him, them I responded back. I'll go back and try and decipher how that translates to me not wanting Huds on the team as well as being unsatisfied with his play. Take it how you want. While you're at it take a deep breath for me. You've taken the whole bitchin' about people bitchin' to a whole new level of bitchin' about people who aren't even bitchin'.
-
You're making good points, but you're also giving the impression that Huds is playing 100% of the time with Sammy and Flip. 14 of his 34 points (41%) are on the PP unit with players superior to both of the aforementioned. None the less, I think Huds is a great player and maybe hasn't hit his peak in ability, however you can't take away from the fact that nearly half his production is spent on the ice with some of the best forwards in the league.
-
And if you happen to touch anyone with your stick no matter how minor, automatic game misconduct on the first offense, with suspensions to follow on repeat offenses.
-
It stated somewhere in the article that you get suspended for taking off an opponent's helmet as well.
-
How's the saying go? You're only as good as the company around you?? I like Huds and all, but I'd be interested to see how he'd perform on a first line with a team that doesn't have the talent of the Wings. Teams would most likely play tighter defense on him as well, and I don't see him doing as well as he does here.

Don't like this. Fighting's been in the game forever and to make a penalty like this is quite a knee-jerk reaction for one unfortunate instance. What are the OHLers going to do that aren't accustom to fighting without a helmet when they get to the NHL and have to take on a veteran. Seems like there might be some danger there as well. I hope this isn't another step towards trying to eliminate fighting from the game altogether. :nonono:

Hi guys! I'd love to make it, but as I informed Rivalred, I'm going to be in Vegas .... If there is ever another get together for a game, I'll definitely try and make it. I hope you all have a blast and drink one for me! :beerbuddy:

There were definitely folks on both sides of the hit argument. I think the consensus in the end was that Ian could have picked a better spot or person to take a run at. Downey agreed. The refs and league were under the impression it was clean since there was no penalty or suspension. I'm in agreement with you that his cross check was a little extreme, but he also got 2 for it. That's when it would be nice to have someone in the lineup that could pound him for taking action in that form.
-
Apparently you weren't around the boards to read the thread about Laperriere's hit on Lidstrom. With your logic, Downey going after Laperriere is wrong because the hit was clean. Okay, good luck getting anyone to agree with you on that one. Most in that thread came to the consensus that the hit was clean, but unnecessary, hence supporting Downey for getting involved. Now you're using the same far fetched examples as in one of your previous posts. You're comparing apples to oranges, basic plays versus putting a player in a position where he could get injured. I would want Kronner to take that hit 10 out of 10 times mind you, but you can't blame a team the Wings have owned for so long for getting frustrated in another losing effort. I'm trying to decipher where I stated that a fight should have happened. I believe most of us agree that it was okay for him to voice his displeasure about the hit due to the circumstances and the fact that the Wings have no one on the team that can stop Ott from doing so. Also I don't know how many other teams you watch, but what Ott did happens on a nightly basis across the league without there always being a fight. Clean or not, it's called sticking up for a teammate, and if you haven't noticed, these sort of things lead to camaraderie.
-
I can't believe people on this board are actually getting on Ott's case for sticking up for a teammate. I'll preface with I hate the guy, but he was just doing his job in a game that they pretty obviously weren't going to come back and win. He was frustrated and upset with a hit and went after Kronner knowing full well we have no one in the lineup that can stand up to him. I'd love to see the reactions on the board if it was the other side of the fence and someone from the Wings got smoked in a blowout game. I bet people would be calling for blood. This is hockey people, it's a sport for warriors, quit acting like it's ice dancing.

Going to be there tonight as well, a little bummed though because when I purchased this game back in Oct, it was under full impression I'd be able to watch Avery and his antics. Oh well, still get to see the Wings up close again and hoping for a 4-1 win. Dats, Hank, Clears, Mule and I'll give 1 to Richards. Have fun at the game for everyone else that is attending!!

Now why would you have that feeling GMR? We all at LGW know our enforcer is our powerplay.
