Pre-game is on here on WOW 14

You just indirectly made the point most of us are trying to sell, the fact that we don't have two players like you mentioned playing at all this year and these types DO have a positive impact over the course of a season.
-
You must be referring to the years they won the President's Trophy and not the Stanley Cup, correct? Correct me if I'm wrong, but every year they won the cup they had a Downey type player playing more than half of the regular season games and a Drake like player in all of the games including playoffs. Players who play the game with their heart on their sleeve like the aforementioned can make a positive impact in the locker room and on the ice....

I was there on Monday night and the crowd was electric waiting for something physical to happen like the rivalry of old. When folks were leaving you could sense the disappointment from both a loss and an uneventful game. The most physical action that happened was Kopecky s***ting his pants while McLeod and McCormick were ready to beat his ass.

The bolded section pretty much outlines why you have no clue about the NHL game. Rather than waste my time trying to enlighten you about teamwork and locker room bonding I will just sit back and read more of your posts for the mere entertainment value. .

Food for thought: Interesting Statistics that speak volumes
ManLuv4Clears replied to sureWhyNot's topic in General
This made me laugh coming from a guy where 9 out of 10 of his posts are ripping on someone else's post or opinion. Pot, meet kettle. -
For all of those that preach, "our powerplay is our enforcer" and "I prefer winning and all skilled lineups over dressing a fighter;" I ask you this: How many cups have the Wings won without someone that can drop the gloves playing in a majority of the regular season games?.... I'll answer it real quick, 0.
-
I'm on board with this. I really just prefer the old way. It seemed like the teams played harder with the goal of coming away with all points available.
-
Will be there tonight, taking my old man.... 2nd row right next to the Avs bench, should be a good game. Here's to Lilja putting Ian thru the glass and Cleary with a goal and an assist! :beerbuddy:

Wings got the talent, but what about the coaching?

Scotty Bowman was notorious for constant line changing.... -
Well said sir, well said...

I'm glad that you posted this. I wasn't aware that there was hockey out in Fraiser again. Nothing better than some minor league action! Don't know if I can make it on Sunday, but I will definitely try and make a game sometime for those prices. Do you know if they serve adult beverages in that arena?
-
Yeah me too, and there's no entertainment value to boot. I bet if the Wings picked up any player like that people would stop going to games.... /sarcasm What does Mickey always say when there's a tussle???... "There's not a person in their seat, they don't like it at all do they?!?!?!"
-
I've never heard this and have heard the contrary. I'm wondering if you could provide a source or link for this statement...

That's my boy Shoreline, I knew you had it in you... Can't argree with this post more.... The team has plenty of skill and it wouldn't hurt to have a little balance in the terms of a bad ass.... Marty Lapointe of the 90's if you will. This "our enforcer is our power play" bs has to stop, it's embarrasing that a once hard-core, tough guy, man's game has come to this. We were balanced last year with Drake and Downey playing a majority of the regular season games, why can't that happen again?

"So I was like sitting by the pool in LA the other day and Dion sent me a text mesasge saying that Sean called me 'sloppy seconds.' I was like, no way, and than I thought about it and was like, why would he say I am sloppy after I have seconds when I have butlers to clean up after me... LOL... Oh Sean, he's a goofy, but now I'm mad that he would say something that isn't true. So I'm going to take him off my friends list on Facebook and I'm not going to do a blog on NHL.com again... hehehe... LOL... I'm sneaky.... Go Kings!" edit:..... spare me

Ok, I understand your position on this. I'm not really complaining, I just have the feeling that the American team acting like jack asses after they lost was a poor reflection on America in general. It's like we need another reason for anyone outside the US to hate on us. At any rate, their actions were looked down upon in the media, but that lasted about a week and then it was done, where this is still going.
-
I've got to agree with this. They say the 2 hardest jobs in Detroit are being a Red Wings' goalie and a Lions' QB. The media needs to go give s*** to the latter and figure out why the Lions are making Detroit more of a national joke than it already is.
-
I think we need to go back to the basics here. Lot's of good points being made, however he said "Sloppy Seconds!" Big, f'n deal!! In the opinions of myself, most on this board, and pretty much everyone in both the TV and radio sports world. This is getting blown wait out of proportion and being dissected way too much. Shoreline, unless you are indeed Elisha Cuthbert (which I highly doubt because you are much more articulate than she is), in a basic sense I'm trying to determine why you are so offended or up in arms by his actions. In my opinion, the American team trashing a hotel in a different county IS worse because that reflects America as a whole. This is just a guy trying to get a reaction, and he more than accomplished this as you can tell from the 500+ posts in this thread alone.

There's quite a difference between what Sean said and what Bertuzzi did. You're really taking it to the extreme when you are lumping these two occurences in the same boat, hence which may explain your viewpoint on the incident. I respect your opinion, but do me one favor and never in any post in the future complain about the lack of exposure or how the league is getting treated like a step child by the ESPNs of the world.

Fact of the matter is the majority of folks like Esteef, avid NHL fans and non were on the edge of their seat waiting to see what drama would have unfolded in the Dallas/Calgary game that night. That said, I think you will find yourself in the minorty of who would have rather not seen Avery play. The supporting arguement you have is that both you and the NHL hold the same position on Avery. I guess we can't question why it is a tier 3 sport in America and will continue to be when the league has such a disconnect with a majority of fans.
