Why I never want Sean Avery back in Detroit

True that my friend. Hopefully their are changes some day so we don't have to witness that kind of nonsense again. -
If so, I hope they don't get rid of Barnaby, he's been doing a pretty decent job in my opinion.

In a perfect world this would happen... and then Ott can follow in his footsteps. -

My mother's a speech therapist, so I have a part of me that gives more sympathy than the next person when it comes to a speech inpediment. That said, f*** you Sean. -
Got hockeystreams to work simply by creating an account and pressing the HD play button to the left of the Wings/Pitt scoreboard. Quality is excellent. edit: (to the right)

I don't know if that post about Hockeystreams.com being free tonight is legit, but I just created an account and will let you guys know. From what I've heard it's a pretty good site, so we'll see.

He still does the starting line-ups and the 3 stars.

Excellent post, the bolded points alone show what kind of attributes he can bring to a team on top of enforcing. He may not be the best "hockey" player, but he does give 110% and his heart and soul, which can rub off onto teammates.

I have to agree with you UK, Mac is washed up. Nothing against him personally, and I respect and appreciate what he has done for this organization, but he's not a fighter anymore. I haven't seen anything positive from him on the fighting side of things since he came to GR last year. He came close to getting his ass handed to him by an even more washed up May. Those fights that UK posted tell the enforcer tale: Downey > Mac.

I think this statement holds some weight. I'm pro enforcer but understand the importance of a well balanced team too (ie not all goons). I made a comment one time that having an enforcer in the lineup may actually help attendance because Detroit and it's metro area are a very blue collar demographic and got flamed for it, so I haven't touched on that subject since. I wasn't saying it's the end all solution for attendance, but I was at the sold-out game against the Ducks last year when Downey took down Parros and the cheers were as loud if not louder than every game I was at where a goal was scored. It's hard for some people to admit, but the population of SE MI does love a Wings team with a player or two who play with an edge.

Get it done Kenny!

Mac's time has past, it was great while he was in his prime and a feel good story last year, but he just doesn't bring much to the tabke anymore. If the Wings are going to dress an enforcer they are going to have to run with Downs.
-
Let's ban the instigator penalty instead.

I have nothing against Kopecky, but nice post GMR, that made me laugh out loud. In all seriousness I hope someone picks D-Mac up. I'm pro-enforcer in the lineup, but Mac just isn't what he used to be. I like him and respect his comeback and what he's done in his years with the organization, but he serves no purpose on this team anymore. I ideally would want to see Downey at least getting a game here and there, because he can enforce, but it's not going to happen. It's going to be a skill lineup all year, we'll see how the team does going that route.

The Rangers are playing well and tough. Should be a great game. I'll be there, 2nd row, first 4 seats right next to the Ranger bench. I'll be the guy with a beer in hand!! Gonna be a close one though, so I won't give a score and just say Go Wings! Go Clears!
-
I have to agree, Malts has been throwing the weight and being a little bit of an agitator. I like it.
-
I'd hate to see it, but you're probably right UK. I don't agree with it, but I don't see the Wings carrying any meat all year. Looks like it's going to be all skill. I guess we'll have to leave it to Cleary to do all the protecting, not that he will, but at least he gave it a go with Pronger last year.
-
Gonna be second row next to the Ranger's bench. Can't wait, I've have had these tickets before and they are sick. Going with 2 good friends and one of their dads, so due to the old timer in the bunch don't think we'll be able to make Cobo Joe's but you never know. If I can convince them I'll look for ya!

Good analogy. The NHL needs ESPN and being broadcast with that network will do nothing but help the sport grow. Interesting enough I have seen a lot more NHL coverage as of late on espn.com than has been covered in the past couple years.

QFMFT That nonsense that Gary Roberts pulled in the playoffs by trying to fight Pavel would have never been tolerated with Probie on the ice or even on the team. Granted Pavel held is own and I was proud of his toughness, but Gary would have had an ass beating coming if this were the early 90's.
-
These videos bring back good memories of Probie. If you F'd with Stevie, be prepared because Bobby would have you number.
-
How accurate are these beer stats? I've been going to the Joe consistantly for the last few years and I can't remember once paying less than $8.

Can't disagree with that
