The PP was fine until Dats and Z went down. Not surprising when they play such a rigid structure.

Watching the condensed game on GCL and I'm wondering how Tatar and Nyquist didn't have 5 goals between them. They created so many chances.

Pretty good idea when we're playing back-to-back with a top 6 that mostly isn't used to playing 20 minutes a night.

I'm not a big fan, but it's his first game back. If he puts in one of those loose pucks right at the goal face early on, then no one would be saying anything.

Two offensive zone penalties when we're going to struggle to score is not good enough

It seems like they were running the exact play they would with Z or Dats (minus the dropback pass) to gain the zone, except Nyquist can't get through three defenders like those guys can.

They've done practically everything right with this group in this period and now it's a game.

I just don't see that. Sometimes they have coverage issues. But in that period the worst mistake came from Tatar with so much time and space in his own end passing to Ericsson with a pass that went nowhere near him and resulted in a turnover - then another defensive zone faceoff and more defending.

Forwards aren't able to keep possession, defence has to defend more. NJD have done a good job of blocking outlets and the defence hasn't stopped to have a look. The only urgency on the forecheck is coming from Tatar, Nyquist and Abby.

Emmerton was on the ice for very few 5v4 goals last year, yet we seem to be using 8 and 71 on the 2nd unit.

Cleary poked it out of the zone past centre, MacDonald had a few steps on Helm as it was entering the NYI zone, Helm beat him to the puck and just pushed it past Poulin as he was coming out. Helm caught a bit of Poulin and went sliding into the boards, MacDonald caught all of Poulin and flipped over like Gaborik over Hasek.

Cleary seemed to be all but benched in the 3rd, Quincey was so terrible that his position is untenable at this point (at some point 2 years ago, in actuality). So if someone in this organisation knows what's best for it, then the return of Dekeyser and Alfredsson will be what it takes to get them out of the lineup. I'm not holding my breath.

It's like they make everyone skate better. Datsyuk, Abby and Smith have all looked faster.
