I agree. I think maybe some of us are over reacting. Simple to me. No offer sheets, an modest increase in salary and stay a Wing. We all saw moments of awesome talent this season. This guy is still a kid and has allot to offer this team. I would think, and hope that this thing never makes it to arbitration anyway. I have faith in KH and the Wings org to come up with a deal that makes everyone happy. I would venture to say 1.5 to 2.0 mil for two year deal no arbitration, keeps our cap in line ! I hate to say it but some of the old timers need to be looking to move on. I like em all , but this team has to much young potential to be stuck in the past. I mean DM, Cheli, and several others.

I am psyched for this game. Hopefully we have learned from game 5 of the Dallas series. I don't hink I am alone in saying I am glad we have the opportunity to win it all @ home. For some reason the number 5 is sticking in my mind and a BIG FAT GOOSE EGG ! GO WINGS !!!! BRING IT HOME BABY !!!!!!

Worried ? always. Nervous ? Never. The bottom line for me is simple. We are in the SCF's with a 2 games to none lead. The much tauted Pens offense has been completely stimied by The best defense in the league. The Pens have begun to resrt to whatever possible to get back in it IE : the rough stuff, Crosby and Therrien whining etc.........the Wings are indaunted by any of this . the only benefit I see the pens having for game 3 is home ice. The Wings know they are the much better team. They know that they need to take one game @ a time. They know that with a win tonight, the series and the Cup goes to Motown. All they have to do is play as consistently as they have been. Too close to the goal line to become complacent. I think as intense as Pitt will be , in a must win situation, Detroit will match their intensity. I can't wait to see us defeat them on their home ice for the first time this playoff season..............I too hope that the refs don't make calls that decide the outcome of the game. I would love to see Datz and Mule get some payback for the last game ............I would also love to see someone (anyone) light up Roberts for his cheap shot antics (my ass it was accidental !). I think Drakster or Kronner will deliver some pain .............. realistically, even if we did Lose ( hard to say that word !) It's only one game.................I don't see it happening though. Ozzie stands on his head , but no shutout............................

Therrien needs to take al esson from Babcock, and eliminate the whining ! he really is not doing his team any favores when he plays the "blame game". You are certainly obligated to your opinion, as I am to mine. After having said that, I still don't buy it. I have been watching this game for 30 years, and nothing that you say is going to convince me that Homer interfered on that play........I don't like the call and i'll say again "Any other player other than Holmstrom, and this is a goal" it's a hard pill to swallow, especially for the perp in question..............but relative to the end result, not overly concerning. (for me anyway....................)

I agree. Unfortunately, the game has come to that. Sorry the game is too fast and too skilled for the Refs to be 100% accurate all the time. Not unlike the NFL. The bottom line has to be "The correct call" . I'm not taking away from most of the NHL refs. I think for the most part, they do a great job and are to be commended. It's just a fact of the game, as we have seen twice (IMO) in the playoffs this year. And I don't agree that this was interference (also-IMO). Lids shot was high, the questionable call not only happened outside the crease, but also was nothing more than a stick between the pads of an already beaten goaltender. I have 100% faith that if this was any other player, It's a goal ! M

Good Post. I agree, I don't think The Pens can win without a much better offensive output . When you are held to single digits in shots for 2 periods, it usually reflects poorly on the score board. I have been a Wings fan my entire life , and have every confidence in this team this year. Not just against the Pens but any opponent. The key was Defense, and Pitts inability to play in their own end. The Wings had them on their heels for 2 thirds of the game. No lucky breaks or good bounces for your team either. I also think that if Detroit wins handily in game 2, The series is as well as done.......... Thanks for your honesty and your obvious genuine love for the game , regardless of your loyalties. Good Luck Monday ! I'm certainly biased.....but I think you are going to need it !!

IMHO- I think the importance of setting the tone and getting some confidence to start this series is what really counts. A game 1 win is HUGE for this team. Now you go out, and know whats coming and also know that you have to @ least match the intensity of the first victory. Quote all the stats and percentages if you will.........I for one believe that this is the most important game of this series....We came, we solved and we conquered !! EXACTLY what we wanted and HAD to do ! Great to see secondary scoring (Sammy was flyin', and he was due !). I think his family from Sweden was @ the game too, which was likely a big factor. Then Dan the Man.....who was also due................ So now for game 2 , others step up and chime in with a very simple , physical, defensively (offensive) style of play. The likes of which, the kids from PA have no answer ! 3 to go !!

Well , It's finally here. Great job on the GDT ! In my short time on this blog, I always look forward to this post the most ! Predictions are hard this time of year. I have every confidence in our boys, but really no idea what to expect from the Pens. I do think that they will realize very quickly that 'this ain't the East no more'. I can't imagine whats going through these youngsters heads, knowing that the best, most balanced team in the league is gunning for you and just waiting for you to make a mistake so they can school your young arse. I too feel like it's Christmas eve. after last years let down against the Dorks, I mean Ducks, I am now in Hockey Heaven. Even though living in the South, the media coverage is very limited, I still get VS and the NHL channel and center ICE (@ a cost, well worth it !) . I gotta say Pav has a big game as well as Zetty. With all the comparisons being made to Crosby, Hank has something to prove. I also think The Drakester plays huge............. Hopefully we get some secondary scoring like game 6 Dallas. 1st job is to solve MAF. the rest is elemental. Wings 5 Pens 2 GOWINGS in 5 !!

Yeah, I am placing all my hopes on the pick of a freakin monkey ! I wonder what else this primate is good @ picking, besides his arse and the fleas and ticks of his own kind (light snack). This time of year it's very difficult to know who will show up . Certainly you gotta like our chances, and I have to agree with Babcock's statement yesterday in responding to the losses to Dallas. Not a direct quote, but he said something to the effect that those losses were very important to the team. They caused us to refocus and realize that without the effort and drive on every shift for every minute of every game, we too can be beaten.........Not to mention the fact that it knocked us off our High Horse and brought us back to reality..................I have said since the onset of the playoffs that we are the team to beat................I am confident that " all will be Great in Hockeytown".
