I read those three posts that Trevor quoted the same way. I sure sounded like people were hoping for injured players.

He's a hell of 3rd line center though. 10 points and 2 game winners in 2 series. 16th overall in playoff scoring, so far this year. Those are solid 3rd line numbers.
-
It should be noted that Modano now plays as checking (3rd) line center and power play.... it isn't suprising he is scoring his goals on the power play rather than while shutting down the other teams top forward line.
-
Homer Gomers... we've all got them. I could point out just as humorous posts in this very thread. If you really wanna see insane, you should read the Sharks forum this morning over at thefeeder.com.

I'll be watching to see if Detroit is able to do what Dallas failed to do last nigh... close it in 4. Verbeek was in Dallas last night watching/scouting our team for the next round.

That he survived those first hours pretty much tells the story. Once the bleeding is under control and his blood volume is topped off, the danger is passed. He should make a rapid and full recovery... (but not rapid enough to play again this year)

Blood loss. Damaged spleens bleed horrifically. I am impressed he is still alive.

Out of the three 3-0 series leaders right now...

If you look back a month earlier, Dallas was red hot. We were all looking to claim the President's Cup until then (while Detroit was having their February funk). The March funk started one game after the big trade. They started getting the chemistry back in line the last half dozen games. Chemistry seems to be A-OK now. ETA: I abstained from voting since I am not 'from here'. -
I was just being sure to exclude people who were writing the Constitution and such.

Come on..... it's Philly! Who else do they have to make a statue of? (in the last 100 years)
-
It would certainly better prepare you for later rounds (barring injuries).
-
Here is to finding out in a couple weeks! Cheers.
-
Who cares.... you'll forget all about that whining when you are prepping for round 3 while they are hitting the links.

As a Dallas fan, it is obvious you guys totally overmatch the Avs. Watching some of each your previous series, I was expecting short series win for you this time. At best, I expect they could only keep it from being a complete blow-out if they were all healthy. Now they won't even manage that (or rather, now they will continue being unable to manage even that).

FYI, Franzen is starting to get a lot of press in other markets now, too. He has been singled out for heaps of praise by Dallas media covering your playoff games so far.

This seems relevant to this thread. http://communities.canada.com/ottawacitize...-the-stars.aspx That describes the feeling a lot of us who watch the Stars every game are getting. Surprising to see that story come out of Ottawa.

Exactly. This type of marque talent is good for the entire league. They attract viewers. It mystifies me that Hockey is not more popular than it is (at least in the US). I am hoping that with HD become prevalent, hockey will get a boost. It is hard to understate how much change HD brings to the watch-at-home experience. Being able to actually see/follow the puck is pretty crucial to a new fan. We know where it us just by watching the bodies move and heads turns. Not to mention, the wider view angles (seeing more rink at a time) makes the game easier to understand. Hmmmm, maybe that was it. Traditional TV just sucked at presenting hockey?

Excellent anaylysis. (imho)

No doubt that Crosby is aging, maturing, and getting better every game that passes. One of many reason for wanting to make the SCFs is to get a chance to see him play (against our team). Granted, that isn't one of the most major reasons I wanna to go the SCFs, but it is still one of them.
-
The best thing is, what they say/write doesn't change a thing that happens on the ice. The Wings certainly have the power to make many a sports writer eat a heaping helping of crow.
-
I've been hoping for Detroit because.... Detroit has shown they are the team to beat most of the season (I've tried to explain our March burp, what happened to Detroit in February?). If we're going to the finals, the only proper way to do it is by going through Detroit. We've also matched up pretty poorly against Detroit for a good bit of recent history. If we are going to be a serious team in this league, we must demonstrate that we've gotten over our hang-ups on the ice with your Wings.
-
At the very least, good enough to not be push-overs. Detroit is a wickedly talented team. We've got a wickedly deep team with chemistry that is clicking. I agree, anyone dismissing either side is not scouting the opposition with eyes open.

If I had to guess..... We brought Richards on at the trade deadline. He had that insane opening game. Mo got shuffled to 3rd line center and took it pretty hard. I think a lot of February March was Richards getting integrated for real and getting some chemistry developed and Mo getting over his pout and embracing his new position. Speaking of Mo as checking line center..... Now that he's decided he enjoys that position, I can't spot a more effective and dangerous 3rd line still playing. San Jose is moaning about the their top line being near absent. There is a reason, look who is tasked with keeping them in check. That line is defensively brilliant AND is potting *plenty* of goals. All that said, things could change at any time. This *is* hockey, after all. Here's to a Red and Green conference final. Go Stars! -Scott
