Wow! I used to be in radio quite a few years ago and understand how these things happen especially with the shape Michigan is in, but this really sucks. Sidenote: I used to work with Otto at a radio station in East Lansing. Always thought he was better off with Sports. His style didn't fit Alternative radio format.

I second this! If you like mexican food, eat at El Azteco as well!

I have been a huge Lidstrom fan for quite some time but I am not positive he deserves to be a starter this year. Then again it is a popularity contest.

The "circus atmosphere" has already been at the United Center for years if you count Bulls games. That aside, I really don't see this as a problem. The NHL is trying to broaden the appeal of the NHL as long as they don't choose Def Leopard

Sounds like a fun night! Out of curiosity, how did your friend that you work with come a crossed the tickets? The tickets sound like an auction win or a prize of some sort.

I couldn't watch the game as I have no NHL Network until early November, but man I seriously remember that game. Feds was on fire!

Didn't his Larry's Nephew wear #6 on Detroit after it was retired? Maybe everyone forgot

Even if there was a spot for him, would we waste cap space on him?

According to the local sports radio station here in Kalamazoo, Chelios will be signing autographs at the new Meijers on W. Columbia and Helmer Rd. between 5 and 6:30 today. As I understand it the 1st 150 people get wristbands and are guaranteed autographs. Lining up begins at 4pm. Clicky

Quincey agrees to two-year deal 500k per season
Hitchhiker replied to Greatness=PavelDatsyuk's topic in General
Glad to see Kyle locked up and will be given the chance to compete for a spot. Won't bother commenting on the great debate since there are already enough threads on it.... -
I see this in almost every facet of life. Be it Hockey, Business, Church, wherever. People just love to hear themselves talk. Anyone who can't admit to that is just fooling themselves.

Is it me or do those pictures make it look like the Cup was on trial instead of being celebrated. These people look too serious!

We had a great run with him! Good luck Scotty!

I have looked all over the web without any luck(sorry!). I did find a few references to it over at HF Boards but no official link. I am pretty sure it was a Mlive thing just as egroen mentioned. I remember thinking it was a great way for Kyle to remain with the Wings. I'll keep poking around and see if I can come up with it. It was a little blurb at the end of a smaller article if I recall correctly. I really liked how he came in and played good during the 2006-2007 playoffs. It's too bad he is in this situation but maybe it will make him stronger during camp.

Don't forget that Holland specifically asked Quincey to train with Downey this summer to learn how to fight. I have a strange feeling that Holland has something in mind for him. Sign em all and let camp decide who makes the team then trade what's left over.
-
I totally agree. I would think Ducks fans would be steamed just more than people like me who don't really care for the guy.

Some time in the late 90's early 00's I read a quote from Ken Holland that was something to the effect of "When Stevie retires, I will be out of a job". Obviously that didn't happen but it did show they were already grooming him for a management roll. Back to the original topic. The Wings organization amazes me each time I look any aspect of it; Scouting, Player Development, Management, and of course the players and the coaching staff. They may not win every year, but you can honestly say that they try their damnedest each and every year to win it. I think the only area that I have seen them fail recently was last year when they attempted to manage the Griffins. The idea was a good one, it just never worked quite right. I do give them credit for backing out after failing so bad.
-
Kind of what I was thinking too. Anyway, I would rather both get playing time in AHL than pine in NHL.
-
If he has that attitude he will never make the roster. I agree that it is doubtful that he will make the Roster this year as we are a bit thick on D, but he still has a shot if he comes into training camp and plays really well. Babcock makes the decision on this so Ericsson should at least give a go. Especially with the way Babcock raved about him last season. Now if he has other reasons (family for instance) to head back then that is another thing.

Can anyone verify that the online ordering is working? I tried to order this last week and got a few different errors. One of which was a bounce-back email because the recipient was invalid.

Exactly what I think every time I get suckered into reading one of his articles. As I said on freepress website this is insulting to #'s 1, 7, 9, 10, 12, 19 and the people who wore them.

Clement and Thorne were all gaga about Colorado back when the rivalry was strong. Plenty of times I heard them calling for interference on Holmstrom.

Thanks Matt! Been loving this site for years.

6 Canadian teams account for 31% of league revenue
Hitchhiker replied to TheWestWing's topic in General
It's really not hard to fathom 20% of the teams (a few are some of the oldest in the league) making 31% of the revenue.
