Actually, when the NHL had a contract with ESPN it was great. Lots of premier games were aired on Wednesday/Thursday nights and you just knew that any game between Colorado and Detroit would get aired. The lockout is what killed the NHL on ESPN. To respond to the OP and other general posts, I absolutely would love to see more players marketed/advertised. There are a ton of great players in this league from all different teams that get absolutely no exposure because it's Crosby or bust. Peoples' problems with Crosby's marketing have nothing to do with his talent, but rather the over-saturation of the market with his face. There isn't just one guy in baseball or basketball or football....there's a ton of great players in each sport that get a lot of coverage. Why can't the same be said for the NHL? Emphasize American players if you want to get the US more interested in the sport. Emphasize some great European players like Ovechkin or any number of the Swedish players scattered everywhere. What I loved about the Olympics was you had announcers (at least on the feeds I was watching) talking about EVERYONE out there how good they were on their respective teams, and what their numbers were like so far this season.....things that would make someone go "hey....I wanna see more of that guy." It's almost embarrassingly funny how the NHL thinks that the hopes and dreams of the entire sport rest on one guy's yambag.

What she did was beyond my ability to comprehend. If I was skating in the Olympics, in my home country and two days before I was to take the ice, my mother died suddenly......there's no way in hell I'd have the strength to go out there. I would fall apart and lose my mind. Although a part of me thinks that the routine of what she was doing was a way to keep herself together. To go out there and skate her ass off and medal......she should have worn a longer skirt on her skating outfit to hide the enormous brass balls she's got. I was watching her interview with Bob Costas and I turned to MY mother and said, "that's a person I would like to know." If you look up the word "lady" in the dictionary, it'll say "See: Rochette, Joannie".

I'm living at home right now because I can't afford to live on my own and thank God my parents are kind and loving enough to let me stay here until I can get on my feet. It sucks sometimes, but it sure as hell beats living on the streets. If I made $9 million a year, I would NOT be living at home, regardless of how much I love my family.

Now I want Detroit and Pittsburgh to meet in the Cup Finals again this year, and we sweep them at home. That would make me forget about this.

Not hardly. We have flaws, just like every other country on the planet. People who don't or won't see that are part of the problem. That being said, when you base your entire country's happiness on how many gold medals you win at the Olympics.....come on now. It's a great achievement, no doubt.....but quit making it sound like you're little Oliver Twist at the orphanage and the other kids want to take your second bowl of gruel away from you.

Barry Bonds is LOATHED. Him and Alex Rodriguez, no matter how much I love the latter. Although they're hated for entirely different reasons. I think Alex tries too hard to get people to like him and it comes off wrong, whereas Bonds is just a smug, pathetic ******.

Well, he is the good Lemieux. Sure Crosby has money and boy what my family could do with some ducats right about now, but there's a lot of people in this world with more money than he's got.....and I'm certainly not jealous of them. He's got a Stanley Cup......I don't play hockey, I don't even know how to ice skate. He's got a gold medal......I've got one of those, only it's not Olympic gold. So what does he have that I should be jealous of him for?

Jealousy? I'm jealous of people like Kate Winslet and Bruce Springsteen......down-to-earth, awesome people who are endlessly entertaining and worth whatever price it is to go see them do what they do. I am not jealous of Sidney Crosby. Other than material possessions, what does he have that I could possibly want?
