I'll never root for another team to beat us, I'll never stop hoping we win games. That doesn't mean if I think we're over-matched, I'm going to lie and say we're not just to keep people from s***ting their pants and then throwing the contents at me. I love the Red Wings, and I have for a long, long time. However, when you're in a relationship with something (or someone) as long as I've been in this "relationship" with the Red Wings, it has evolved well past the honeymoon phase, when they can do no wrong and anyone who thinks different is just a meanie poopy-head hater. I'm solidly into the "I can love you but still be objective" phase, and if other people don't like that, I don't really care.

I hope the Wings win, but they're not inspiring a whole lot of confidence. I love 'em to death, but I can be realistic too. Like I said, this is going to be ugly. I don't make predictions about who is going to win what, because I have no way of knowing if I'll be right or not, and I don't like to be wrong. So I avoid that kind of prognostication and leave it for everyone else. I honestly couldn't tell you who is going to win. When the Wings are on, they're unbeatable, but they haven't been "on" very much since the first of the year, and they're not very good on the road. Nashville has given us fits all year, and we trip over our dicks every time we play them. So who knows. If we make it past the first round, I'll feel a whole lot better about our chances.

TORTS FOR COMMISH!!! That was beautiful. Just....truly breathtaking. I'm sending that video to everyone I know who hates the Pens as much as I do.
-
We can't vote for all of them? However, for sheer comedic purposes, I must vote for Patty Roy and the Statue of Liberty goal, only because f*** the Avalanche those (former) dirty pricks. I couldn't stand those assholes, and taking them down in such a spectacular way was schadenfreude for years.

Battle of Pennsylvania - Philly vs Pittsburgh
Electrophile replied to Hockeymom1960's topic in General
I'll give the first Flyer to knock HWSNBN into last century, a crisp, sparkling $5 bill. -
God, this is going to be ugly.
-
I hope we continue winning. We need to get some momentum behind us going into the playoffs.
-
God forbid HWSNBN has to take his lumps like every player does, including taking s*** from TV talking heads. The poor widdle pwincess.

Your avatar is hypnotic. I love it.

Figured as much. He brought on himself. Maybe next time, he won't pull a stunt like that.
-
Careful, you can't say that. Too negative. You're right, but you can't say that.
-
I'm the one who gave it to you. I considered it a double negative,. like overkill. I think they looked better in this game than they have in some time. Not great and still not shooting enough, but working harder. I was just damn grateful that they got to that point, no matter who it was. Not important, I don't think. The fact that they were playing harder and with more heart was to me, the important thing. As in, why go negative at that point? Not like it ain't your prerogative, but I didn't appreciate the negativity at that point. I'm sorry, but it shouldn't take a shoot-out to beat the Florida Panthers. We won, but it shouldn't have taken this much effort to do so. We should have beaten them in regulation. If you took issue with what I said, you should have quoted me and said so. I'm getting sick of this "ZOMG DON'T SAY ANYTHING NEGATIVE!!11!!" around here. Negative doesn't always mean rude/cruel. I didn't say the team sucked ass and should be contracted from the NHL.
-
I like that I got negged for effectively saying I couldn't believe we needed a shoot-out to beat the Florida Panthers. My thanks to the ***** responsible for it.
-
A ******* shoot-out? This is the damn Florida Panthers.

Someone check if one of Babs' water bottles has Everclear in it.

Pavs is the team. It starts and ends with him. I hate that our team is so dependent on one player, because when Pavs is out of the lineup, we're practically somnambulant out there.
-
That would imply we've taken a decent shot on net all game. The answer would be no. We haven't scored.
-
I have not seen anything from this team recently that tells me they're ready for the playoffs, much less capable of winning the Cup. This is absurd. I feel sorry for people who have paid money to watch this. They need to pull their heads out of their asses.
-
We're playing some players a lot of money to hit a puck with a stick. Where might they be this evening?
-
Nice to see the Wings taking that horrible loss to Nashville and using it as a springboard to better, more inspired play.
-
And I played basketball in grammar school and high school. Glad we were able to have this discussion about the sports we played when we were younger.
-
If you think baseball isn't entertaining, either you root for a s***ty team, or you have no clue what anyone is doing and don't care to learn. I don't necessarily care for basketball or football, but I can at least understand that it has a lot of entertainment value and excitement for people.
-
Not tripping over their dicks, which they've done too much recently. 60 minutes of solid play, consistent effort, and high energy. If we manage to do that, I'm happy. How far doing that gets us this year is entirely dependent on how much they want to prove to the fans they're not a bunch of lazy, spoiled, entitled dopes. On one hand, I want us to win the Cup every year, however it's entirely unrealistic for that to happen, so I try to remember that as long as they play with heart, I'll be satisfied with our lot. If we lose in 7 games, at least we went down swinging. I can take comfort in the fact they didn't give up, while simultaneously being upset they didn't win.

$200 is a lot of money when that's 2/3 of your weekly paycheck. I'm glad you don't seem to think it's a lot of money, but for some of us it is. I make less than $1400 a month. I need to pay on my credit card, my cell phone, my student loans, and I need to be able to feed myself during the week. The money doesn't stay long. So no, $200 a month is not reasonable to me. I don't have an HD TV, nor can I afford one. So the fact the games are presented in HD is completely meaningless. If illegal streams are completely blocked, I would like a less expensive way to watch the Detroit Red Wings. I don't care about 1000 other games. I have no interest in any other team but the Red Wings, and I'm not going to pay $200 that I don't have to watch 1% of what I'm paying for. As a bonus, if you say you're not about to say/do something.....that's exactly what you're going to end up doing.
