I don't disagree that players have done it in the past, often times to their own detriment. I'm saying I don't want Lilja to do it, because he's very talented and very useful to us. If he keeps himself out of fights (which are different than checking and leveling some hits), he is infinitely more useful than if he starts looking to drop the gloves and finds himself out of hockey for good this time. There is nothing more frustrating than wasted talent.

If he disobeys doctors' orders (who BTW are smarter than he is) and gets into a fight, he's dumber than a box of rocks and he deserves whatever happens to him after that. And before you ask, no I'm not kidding. If he's cleared to play but told to stay out of fights and he does it anyway......that's a level of stupid not yet quantified by man. Who thinks it's smart to disobey a doctor's orders when your damn life could be at risk if you do? If Lilja has more than a teaspoon of brains in his head, he'll listen to his doctors and not the fans.

I'm sure he will be back. Just not any time in the next year and a half (by my guesstimate), unless you want us to be suiting up Eric Lindros v. 2.0 every night. Tons of talent, took too many shots to the head, turned into a turnip. We don't need that. And just a FYI....I'm not a dude.

Excellent! You've deduced he's not a woman. I'm proud of you. However, I'm not sure what that has to do with anything. He's still having headaches every day. I don't want him on the ice. If he's not been cleared by a board of doctors and the team's own medical staff, he has no business playing a single game until such a time happens. He shouldn't endanger his own health and career just so a bunch of fans on a message board can finally say their team is "gritty".

It's getting old. Just fraking knock it off. I don't get it. I'm a fan of a baseball team that is known for having......how shall I put it? Spoiled fans. Kind of like the hockey team I root for. In any event WE don't turn on each other the way Red Wings fans in here do.

What's with all these people deriding the guy for wanting to do this? It's not your money, don't worry how he chooses to spend it. I saw someone wearing a Red Wings jersey down here around the time of the Finals and it had "Hank" on the back with the #40 underneath and it looked cool. I personally wouldn't wear it, I'd go for the Zetterberg instead, but to each their own right? To the OP: I liked your suggestions! Of all them though, I'd go with the Hank/#40. At least that's one I've seen and think looks good anyway.

Darren was one of those players that I always defended, even when everyone else hated their guts. For me, it's great to see him retire as a Wing. He got 4 Cups, his life appears to be back on track and for that, I couldn't be happier. Professional success doesn't always mean much if your personal life is going to hell. Thanks for the memories, D.

I don't know how to skate, either on ice or with roller skates/blades so the answer is no.

Save your sermon for Sunday, Reverend.

Sure, why not.

Maybe some women but not all of them. Speaking only for myself, I would never be with a man just because he had money. It would make me feel like a prostitute. There are other waaaaaaaaay more important things on my list than money. Like education, personality, and temperament. I don't doubt there are women out there who see dollar signs and go running, but they're gold diggers and not worth anyone's time.

I can't imagine a worse pain than outliving any of your kids. My thoughts and prayers are with the Theodore family.

Who give a rat's ass? What players do in their private lives as long as it doesn't affect their ability to play is none of our concern.

Drake IS the s***, man. He's like.....the s***, the whole s*** and nothing but the s***, man. Look, we're funning with you. Lighten up, Francis.

LOL......I realized I posted in the wrong thread initially and meant to put that here. Copypasta'd is one of my favorite words, BTW.
-
Something like this, perhaps: Apologies for the language.
-
I'll be satisfied provided he doesn't break anyone's neck and doesn't cost us games. Otherwise, the thought of him on our team is the same as if it was Pronger, Lemieux and everyone else the majority of people can't stand.

Copypasta'd from the Goon thread: In any event, a couple other boards I post on that are sports-oriented are pretty much all in the same camp - this signing makes the Wings look bad, partly because of his reputation, partly because it's not immediately clear how effective he'll be. Someone actually said signing Bertuzzi "upped our douchebag quotient" and when someone else pointed out that the Wings were not known for having a douchebag quotient since we have pretty classy and well-spoken players, that person responded by saying "well, adding a douchebag to their roster when there weren't any before would up their douchebag quotient, now wouldn't it?" I'm not saying Holland should make choices based on what people say on the internet, but damn it I don't want people thinking the Red Wings are douchebags because of this guy. I don't care if people hate us because we're talented, always in the playoffs and a Cup threat and have players who sign here for less out of loyalty to the team and the city.....but I DO care if they think we're douchebag assholes because of 1 guy on the team. I won't boo him or hope he gets injured or anything like that but I'll be damned if I'm going to be happy he's here.

Oh yeah, you'll treat him like anyone else. We'll see about that. Ask Dany Heatly about that. Anyone else who did what he did would be in jail for vehicular manslaughter, he served not one day in jail. Put your money where your mouth is, Mr. District Attorney.

I'm still not seeing what's wrong with these jerseys, other than the alternate looking like the Rangers' jerseys. Other than that, it's our Olympic jersey. All that's required is our country's colors and country's name. That's been covered. It's a jersey, it's not supposed to flashy and fun and hip and cool. Who cares if it's boring? I didn't know hockey jerseys were supposed to be entertaining. *shrugs*
-
I like them. Simple, direct and to the point. We have red, white and blue and our country's name on it. What more do people want?
-
Not specific to 2007, but is Curtis Joseph still playing? Maybe we can get him to be Ozzie's backup.
-
Hey, don't laugh. When you have cabbie-slugging Patrick Kane on your roster, you're a bonafide power threat.
