NHL asks IIHF, KHL to negate Hudler's KHL Contract
Electrophile replied to Frozen-Man's topic in General
There's no shame in wanting money. It's the beauty of this capitalist paradise we call America. I don't really care why he left or why Hossa left.....I don't hold it against them. The great thing about the Red Wings though is that 99.9% of the team doesn't feel that way and is willing to take pay cuts to stay here. It's why we love them. That said, if the consensus amongst the people who know better say that Hudler provides this team with something they cannot replace right now, and they sign him......I trust the people that know more than me. -
I'm not saying I want Sidney to be injured, because I don't. That being said.......if Pronger could just lay him out a couple times, that would be swell. Look at it this way, suddenly Pronger is useful to us!

NHL asks IIHF, KHL to negate Hudler's KHL Contract
Electrophile replied to Frozen-Man's topic in General
Let me see if I get this straight. Hudler left and people here were upset (at least some people) because that's more production and skill on the ice that we lost. The NHL might negate the contract he made with the KHL because it was shady or some such thing and now that he could be coming back to Detroit.......people don't want him because he left for more money. Same s*** as with Hossa. You wanted him gone after the playoffs, he leaves, you get pissed and start bitching about why he left. You people amaze me. Players you couldn't stand during the season, never had anything good to say about and wanted traded/released/shot at dawn every other game pick up stakes and move on to some place else and you all get your knickers knotted over it. MAKE UP YOUR MINDS. You can't have it both ways. If you want them gone and they leave, that's the final say. You don't get to be upset about it. I for one hope Hudler comes back because we can use him.....he has usefulness to us. If the contract is negated and Kenny works something out with him, you'll just have to get over it. -
Oh yeah because what we need is another aging tough guy. That is just what will send us over the top. The answer is no.

I keep reading Snazzy as Slappy which makes me think of Slappy the Squirrel from Animaniacs. Then I start laughing. That's probably not a good thing for Snazzy/Slappy.

If Steve leaves for Chicago, I'll kneecap him.

Larry, Moe and Curly of the local chapter of MENSA. Bonus points to the chuzzlewit who decided to Godwin the thread. Anyone who equates a non-Red Wing with a Nazi should probably read more books.

I mentioned this in another thread, but some of you make me laugh. Not you meaning people in this thread but you meaning people on this board. After the SCF you wanted Hossa out of here. In fact, if given the chance most of you would have run him out of town yourselves, pitchforks and rifles in hand. Completely forgetting the fact we wouldn't have made it as far as we did without his contributions, of course. Now that he's gone, you're pissed. Well make up your farking minds, you ninnies.

How erudite. No, I'm not going to boo him because it's a waste of time. He's making his paper. Let him make it where he wants. If our fans start stooping down to the gutter, we all look like trash. Just greet him with silence, that says far more.

Well, Chicago has certainly stocked up today. It'll be interesting to see how the Western Conference plays out this coming season.
-
Interesting take. Is that his way of saying he fell on his own sword for the betterment of the team? If so, that's rather admirable. Then again, regardless of his reasoning, there will be people here pissed off. In any event, godspeed.

If Hossa doesn't want to play here for the money we can give him to make sure we can afford everyone else that plays for us, then so be it. He's free to leave.

Holland "Not Optimistic" about re-signing Hossa
Electrophile replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
If we can re-sign him for a reasonable sum of money, that's great. If he wants too much, then let him walk. Right now, I'm for whatever is in the best interests of the team. I don't think playoff performance is the end all and be all of what determines a player's worth. Pavs had a couple crappy playoff runs and the fact he was injured this year is part of the reason we didn't repeat. That's how essential he's become to us. I'm not saying Hossa deserves a pass, but I wish people would quit acting like he's the only player who didn't step up when we needed it the most. Whether he stays or goes should depend on his overall production with this team, not just his no-show in the playoffs. That's just my .02, though. -
Trade Rumor: Osgood and Holmstrom to Flames
Electrophile replied to King Octopus9's topic in General
Trade Osgood and I'm breaking Kenny's kneecaps. -
Losing the gold medal won't suddenly make them want to win the Cup more, the two have nothing to do with each other. I want to see Nick and Hank and the boys win a repeat gold.....that would be an amazing feat.

No, I know that's what you were saying. I was making that comment to someone who was saying the Red Wings would be in trouble while half our team is in Vancouver. It's not like we'll be on the ice with half the GR team, there won't be any games to play until the Olympics are over.
-
I thought they shut the league down in 2006 during the duration of the Olympics so that the players could go? I don't remember the Red Wings playing during the Turin games.

Yzerman, Hull, Robitaille named to Hall of Fame

Stevie is the man! -
Who hates Hank and why would they hate him? Did he eat all your Cheerios this morning and not tell you?
-
lack of urgency = don't care enough/phoning it in If anyone here is trying to insinuate the Red Wings didn't give a s*** about the games or what was on the line or their fans or fill in the group here, you are full on macadamia.
-
Likely? I'd say it's a foregone conclusion. I can't see any reason why he wouldn't be inducted.

And the LGW Necromancer Award goes to............ Bumping a 2 year old thread? I guess there really is a dearth of conversation here.
