Gary Thorne and Bill Clement WERE hockey for me growing up. Living in Chicago, the only Wings games I could watch on TV were the ones on ESPN/ESPN2 or when they were playing the Hawks in Detroit (since at that time, Dollar Bill Wirtz wouldn't put the Hawks home games on TV). So all my memories of great Red Wings games, both regular season and playoffs, have them as the narration. We really need them back.

NBC is not a sports network. What do you expect? This is why we need the NHL back on ESPN.

No, no it's not. There's a difference between using long words to make your point and then talking down to people like you think they're idiots. I don't think you get where everyone else is coming from, though. When I was growing up, one thing my parents always told was "it's not what you say but how you say it". If the thread starter had been less of a ****** and didn't come off to people like a condescending jackass, people would be more receptive to what he was saying. To use a different analogy, when you serve filet mignon and a baked potato on a garbage can lid, it doesn't matter what the food is - it's the way it's presented that sticks with you and it's not appetizing anymore.

Since smary isn't a word, the answer is no.

Who cares that some of the Wings can't speak English that fast? Speed in your linguistic skills really isn't necessary, it's accuracy. I'd rather someone take 5 minutes to get their point across the way they want it done than have them take 30 seconds, and not say anything at all.

I've always said, it's much harder to lose with class than it is to win with it. When you're down 5-0 on the road and you know that losing this game means they're one win from the Cup.....it can be hard to be civil. You're angry, you're frustrated, you want to take out that frustration on the nearest guy in a red sweater. But the real champions suck it up and play their game, not let their emotions override their common sense. And common sense dictates you do not start slashing away at people or elbowing them or tripping them....it just looks like you're unfocused and undisciplined.

That's a beautiful sight. The 16 will be even better looking.

So it's not really that common an occurrence. I'd be more than thrilled with either of them winning it as I feel both of them deserve it. Maybe they could share and make everyone happy.

I'd really love Ozzie to get it because of all he's done throughout the playoffs so far but Hank has been an absolute beast all series and really, we wouldn't be up 3-2 without him. Just for curiosity's sake, has a player ever won back-to-back Conn Smythes?
