My best friend's sister's boyfriend's brother's girlfriend heard from this guy who knows this kid who's going with the girl who heard your co-worker's friend is full of crap.

How about a win, but less coronary-inducing. Say, 5-0.

This, that, and what he said.

1/8 GDT : Red Wings 3 at Blackhawks 2 (OT)
Electrophile replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
He better not. Franzen got punched in the head while he was laying prostrate on the ice. If you're enough of a ***** to punch someone who's face down on the ice, you can put your big-boy Underoos on and take a punch to the face in response. -
I agree, someone is going to be pissed off no matter what, but I think realignment should be as geographically correct as possible. If splitting North America down the middle isn't feasible because there'd be too many teams in one conference, then find a way to make it as close to even as possible. I mean, if you're going to use geographical designations for your conference/division names, don't do something stupid like putting freakin' Winnipeg in the Southeast division. I don't think Canada even has a southeast to their country.
-
They can get over it. There's no intelligent reason for why Winnipeg plays in the Southeast Division. They only thing they're south of is the North Pole.
-
I have a fool-proof solution to the alignment issue. First, pick up a ******* map. Then, look at where on the map all the teams play. If you play east of Illinois, you're in the Eastern Conference. If you play west of Illinois, you're in the Western Conference. For Canadian teams, it's real simple. Toronto, Montreal, soon to be Quebec City team = East. Vancouver, Calgary, Winnipeg, Edmonton = West. This solves travel problems, it's geographically drawn up, and it eliminates the obvious absurdity of why the f*** the Red Wings aren't in the Eastern Conference where they damn well belong.

I think HWSNBN should retire, but not for the reasons some of you may think. Yes, I can't stand him, yes I think he's overexposed and over-hyped (in terms of marketing exposure), and yes I think he's basically a chickens*** douchecanoe. However, none of those are valid reasons to hang 'em up. What is, in my opinion, is the fact that he's only played 8 games this season and missed a huge chunk of time last season, all due to concussions. I'm sorry, but your health should come before personal athletic accolades. He's got a Stanley Cup, he won an Olympic gold medal.....he's basically got nothing left to prove career-wise. He did in a shorter length of time, what some players never achieve in a 20 year career. Continuing to play when your brain is one good hit away from turning into runny scrambled eggs is not only stupid, it's suicidal. Eric Lindros played long after he should have quit, same with Pat LaFontaine, and both suffered from similar problems. For the record, I'd say the same if we were talking about Hank, Pavs, Nick, or any Red Wing. So I'd put the same metrics on someone from my own team. I really, really, don't like the guy.......but I don't dislike him enough to want to see him keep playing and potentially turn himself into a vegetable. My hatred can only go so far before my line in the sand is reached.

If you're so "tired" of this debate, you probably shouldn't have continued to engage it. You're on a Red Wings message board. This is akin to trying to convince a bunch of vegans that steak is good. You're not going to get anywhere, and you end up looking like a fool.

The Official NHL Suspension Thread
Electrophile replied to Bring Back The Bruise Bros's topic in General
Carcillo is going to be out a long, long time. I think we're going to see an epic Shanaban for that. -
So a Blues player got suspended for hitting a Red Wing, and a Blues fan is pissed off that a Red Wing didn't get suspended for hitting a Blues player? Also, said fan is expressing said pissedoffness on a Red Wings message board, and is taking issue with Red Wings fans on said Red Wings message board for not also believing said Red Wings player should have been suspended as well? SHOCKING!

Isn't a little silly to worry about the number of posts in a GDT? This is the first season in as many that I've been a fan, where I can watch every single game even though I live hundreds of miles from Detroit. So because of that, I'm watching the games, and making a few comments here and there during commercials and intermissions. Also, I watch the game in one browser, and use another browser for everything else. By the time I switch them, activate fast reply, type the comment, then hit post......52 other things have just happened that other people are talking about, and my comment looks weird and out of place. So I just don't bother.

Continue winning, please.

I speak semi-fluent French. I mean, I could go to Paris or Montreal and get along fine, without needing to rely on English much to get around. If I ever planned on moving to either locale, it would behoove me to learn French to a much greater extent than I already do, because if I'm going to live and work amongst people that speak that language, I need to know it well enough to communicate with people who may not speak English at all. You're always supposed to work from the perspective of the least, not the greatest. Meaning, learn a language to be able to effectively communicate with someone who has zero English language skills. That way, you're guaranteed to be fine with people who speak varying degrees of English as well. If you're going to coach the Montreal Canadiens, you need to speak French. That is what happens when you choose to live and work in a city where English is not the dominant or majority language. It would be no different than Babs going to coach in Russia and then not learning to speak Russian. He'd be mocked, and rightly so.

Actually, not quite so awesome. Yfrog isn't the name of the paper or the paper's website, but the name of an URL shortening service for posting links on sites like Facebook or Twitter. It's a part of Imageshack. I often use it when I post on Twitter because I can upload something that might have 56 characters in it, and get it down to maybe 15.

Kay-beh-kwa. A female from Montreal would be a Québécoise, pronounced kay-be-kwaz. To answer another question, Scotty Bowman was born and raised in Montreal, so one would assume he can speak French quite fluently.

I hate getting up at 6 a.m. every morning (okay, so I love the reason I have to get up early, I just don't like getting up early), because it means if the Wings are playing late games (9:30 or 10:30 puck drop), I end up missing most if not all of it. I'll try to catch as much of this game as I can, but in the event that I don't...... WIN WINGS, WIN.

You'd think so. I'm not always sure how +/- works, if I'm being honest. Sometimes it makes sense to me, other times it doesn't.

He was on the ice for one of LA's goals?
-
8 goals?! Can we hit double-digits?
-
I think 7 goals qualifies.
-
A quick goal by Detroit, not LA. Not sure if I made that clear or not.
-
We need to get the momentum back. A quick goal would do wonders.

Mickey is not happy right now. I love listening to someone who clearly wants to say "f*** this s***" find creative ways to say it without saying it.

How about we score another four goals?
