I miss him. I'd love to see him owning the team or something one day. Or even commish. There's someone the fans won't boo.
-
Good to see him going out a champ. He was the best at his position in his prime and I remember when the Wings signed him thinking, if we can't beat 'em......put 'em on our team! I wish Dom much luck and happiness in his future away from hockey.

Did Jay Leno read my dream journal?

I LOVED Gary Thorne and Bill Clement calling games on ESPN. I miss that most about the current era of the NHL. Just my $0.02 on that. As for whether the NHL is getting softer, I agree that a lot of the physicality is being whittled out of the game.....I don't like that. I'm not saying players should be able to whack at each other like they've got golf clubs in their hands, but not everything is interference/obstruction. It makes the game so much slower, at least to me, when you have a whistle blowing every 10 seconds. We saw that enough in the SCF this year with the Wings getting popped for EVERYTHING the refs could think of. I know I wasn't the only person wondering if the refs were watching the same game the rest of us were.

Thank you so much for posting these.

ter·ror·ize Audio Help /ˈtɛrəˌraɪz/ Pronunciation Key - Show Spelled Pronunciation[ter-uh-rahyz] Pronunciation Key - Show IPA Pronunciation –verb (used with object), -ized, -iz·ing. 1. to fill or overcome with terror. 2. to dominate or coerce by intimidation. 3. to produce widespread fear by acts of violence, as bombings. You may think TP'ing a house is dumb, and I agree it is.....but it's hardly "terrorizing" their property. Now if someone threw a Molotov cocktail up there, you'd have a point. It's some toilet paper and a banner. And a fake Stanley Cup. If it's people in his neighborhood, there's a good chance he might know who they are. He seems like the kind of guy that would know who his neighbors were. Frankly, this kind of fan support is nice.....I wish I could read the banner. Whoever did that took time to make it for him, and unless they included nude photos and body hair, we're not looking at anything criminal or psychotic. My only issue is when the picture was posted, the address should have been blurred out. The same goes for the license plates on the one car. WTF were you thinking with that?

If anyone has footage of that interview, I'd love to see it.

Like I said in my "dedications" post, he's one of the few players I would go to the mat for, regardless. He's such an amazing person. No wonder we all love him as much as we do and why we fight for him and defend him as much as we do. He deserves a lot more love and respect from the fans/media than he gets.

I watched the game with my sister, who I'm turning into the biggest Red Wings fan next to myself, and she said that when Hank was skating around with the Conn Smythe, she heard the fans chanting "Crosby". I thought it was "Ozzie" at first, but then I realized....that made no sense. Ozzie DID get booed when he skated around with the Cup, and all I remember was when we won in Washington 10 years ago, those fans were so respectful and nice when we were getting our hardware and whatnot. When Stevie got the Conn Smythe, they legitimately cheered for him. Where did those kinds of fans go? I wasn't aware that Hank or Ozzie or even Nick were bad guys.
-
I would pay to see some of our guys on that show. Nick looks like he could bust a move.

I don't think there's a hockey player, nay human being (aside from friends and family), I love and respect more than Steve Yzerman. Talk about someone who is the living definition of class, humility and respect.

If that was my kid, I'm smacking him in the face. Hard. You don't do that. Nevertheless, that picture is fricking hilarious.

The Thing I Miss About ESPN Is The Tribute Videos They Had After The C

Thank you so much for this. -
That's because one of the teams in the finals is a nationally-known team. If the two teams were say, Anaheim and Tampa Bay....well, not so much.

Jesus has no need for silly superstitions.

My dedications: 1. Darren McCarty - What a story. The man was below rock bottom, came back and won the Stanley Cup. I've always loved Darren and wanted him to come back and be a part of the franchise he said he hated leaving. So when he did come back, needless to say I was overjoyed. He had personal problems, but who are any of us to judge? No one here is without issue, no matter what that issue is. I'm proud of him for what he accomplished. I hope he stays true to what he's worked to accomplish and I hope we see him next season. 2. Chris Osgood - The "worst goalie to win the Stanley Cup" has been redeemed, at least in my eyes. He was always so underrated and I think, under-appreciated by the fans and media in Detroit. He always seemed to be playing second fiddle to someone, whether it be Mike Vernon or Dominik Hasek, but when the team needed him the most, he showed up. Like Babcock said, if you change your goalies midway through the series, you're fishing in three days. He carried this team all the way to a Stanley Cup and there's no way we win without him. I love Dom a lot, he's done great things for us......but there's no way we're here right now if he was the starting goalie. The list of Red Wings I would go to the mat for is rather small; Nick Lidstrom, Steve Yzerman (when he was playing) and Chris Osgood. I'm thankful we have him. 3. The kids - The players we said we couldn't win with because we didn't pay out the nose for them and they weren't already HOF'ers. Everyone thought after the salary cap, we would never be able to win because our team's structure and dynamic would so greatly altered. Well if anything, we proved them absolutely WRONG. Them and the "overrated Swedes" as one person I know calls them.
-
I can understand people hating the Wings and not wanting us to win. But, wishing the plane crashes and everyone dies? That's just beyond the pall. I would call whoever said that "psychotic".

1997 - They won on my birthday. That alone makes it fantabulous. I remember sitting up watching Stevie raise the Stanley Cup and I was sobbing. Just outright sobbing. They did it at home, and seeing the crowd go apes*** is something I won't forget. After 1994, 1995 and 1996, I thought we were never going to win. I wouldn't say I thought we were cursed, but I thought something was just keeping us from making that final step. 2008 - No one thought after the introduction of the cap that we'd be able to win again. They thought our team would be decimated, they thought after the 2002 squad which was laden with future HOF'ers, we'd never be able to field a competitive team again. Well, they were wrong. Chris Osgood, who no one thought could carry a team, did just that. One of the best goalies in the league this season, the winningest goalie in Red Wings playoff history and a Conn Smythe candidate.....we aren't celebrating this victory if not for him. No more "he's the worst goalie to win a Stanley Cup." I say f*** you to anyone who still thinks that. 1998: The same team from 1997, minus Vladdy who was definitely a part of every game even though he wasn't out there. I rank it 3rd because it didn't have the same drama and emotion as '97 or '08. 2002: I ranked them last because we had, at any given time, 5 or 6 HOF'ers on the ice at any one time. A team like that is expected to win the whole thing and that's what we did. That doesn't take away from what they accomplished, or what that team meant to us as fans.......but it's not like they had a hard row to hoe.

The Ozzie-love is great. I've always loved this guy, actually cried when he left and then cried when he came back. So needless to say, his play this season was something that just blew me away. Not because I didn't think he could do it, but because I KNEW he could, and watching everyone have to admit "hey, this guy's not half-bad" made me smile. I would have loved to see him win the Conn Smythe (I probably would have passed out if it happened), but another Cup ring is just as good. I hope he has the same kind of year, only better next season! We love you Ozzie. :-D

Sleep? What's that?

I would appreciate anything and everything someone would be kind enough to share. I remember when they won in '97, staying up and taping the post-game stuff off the radio because it was a clear enough night in Chicago that I could pick it up. I still have that tape.

I love how most of the Ozzie fans are using the same picture in various forms as avatars. LOL

Any post-game locker room interviews not shown to death on NHL Network. Unfortunately not living in Detroit, you guys got all the good ones.
