You got negged because tinfoil hat conspiracy theory gobbledegook doesn't belong in General Discussion, and it has nothing to do with the thread's subject matter, IMO. Go start a thread about it in the WC or in Political Discussion if it's something that you think is worth conversating over.

The thing is, if Crosby was a Red Wing, he wouldn't have the personality/attitude issues that he does, the team wouldn't stand for it. So that analogy doesn't really work. For it to work, you'd have to assume that Crosby the Red Wing would be the same whiny, petulant brat as Crosby the Penguin.....and we know that ain't true. So yeah, if Crosby was a Red Wing, everyone here would love him. Not only would he still have the talent, but he wouldn't be an insufferable jackass. *looks in corner* *sees two-year-old basset hound sleeping* *wonders what he does when the rest of us are sleeping*

I'd love nothing more than to see Sidney Crosby never play another hockey game for the rest of his professional career. However, not for this reason. I don't wish that on anyone, even someone I despise as much as him.
-
I'd get rid of Holland for offering Hudler a $15 million dollar contract and keep both Pavs and Hank.
-
Okay, THAT'S a name I haven't heard in a long time. I'd like to think that he runs a bar somewhere that Paul Ysebaert, Stu Grimson, and Doug Brown play darts at every Friday.

Hockey coverage doesn't need more women, it needs more intelligent reporters. I could care less what they have between their legs, provided they have something between their ears.
-
Yes, and tell him to bring Bill Clement with him. I'm not old enough to have a lawn or an onion tied to my belt, but I do remember the good ol' days when Thorne and Clement called hockey games on ESPN, and they're the voices of all those great Red Wings moments from the 90s - like Steve's goal against the Blues in '96, Game 4 of the '97 Cup Finals, the Brawl in Hockeytown.....all of it.
-
Okay, so then Kronner would only be a part-time alternate captain, if either Nick, Pavs, or Hank were injured. Gotcha. Thanks to you both.
-
Just to echo what other people here have said, I'd like to see Kronwall wear the A full-time now that Drapes has retired. I believe he's more than earned it during his time here. I don't know if anyone has mentioned this, and if so I apologize for asking again, but is there some rule that states you have to have a certain number of full-time alternate/assistant captains? I would imagine there's a cap, otherwise what's to stop a team from outfitting their entire roster with letters, but if the Wings went with the scenario below, would that be acceptable? C - Nick A - Hank A - Pavs A - Kronner

What I would like to know is what's wrong with irrationally hating Gary Bettman. People here irrationally hate lots of players, including he-who-shall-not-be-named, for lots of reasons......does anyone get sand in their genitals over that? It seems counterproductive to me to go into a thread about someone you know lots of people don't like (for whatever reason), and then dictate to those people what they should or should not say about them. If I want to say "Gary Bettman blows syphilis-infected donkeys for spare change under City Hall"....well, then I'm going to do that. You don't need to worry yourself about why I think he does that, or why I think he should do that.....just laugh if you think it's funny, ignore it if you think it's not. I don't care how much good he may or may not be doing for the league, I don't like him. He's smarmy, he's douchey, and he looks like he eats puppies for dinner.

Kabibulin drops DUI appeal, will serve jail time

What does any of that have to do with this? -
Kabibulin drops DUI appeal, will serve jail time
Electrophile replied to Hockeytown0001's topic in General
Whatever century it needs to be for these people to understand they're in jail, not on vacation. There are laws in this country, and if you break them, you go away somewhere for a while and learn to better appreciate the freedom you had before you got there. If making them sleep in tents, wear pink underwear, cut their hair, and break rocks helps them to understand and appreciate how nice it is not to have to do those things, that can only be a net positive. You drive drunk, you go to jail. If you don't like going to jail, don't drink and drive. -
Kabibulin drops DUI appeal, will serve jail time

I can't think of a better place for people who get pulled over for a DUI to go. Drunks belong in a bar, or at home, not on the road. -
No, I wouldn't say I'm addicted to anything. There are things I love more than others, and enjoy enjoying, if that makes sense.

$7.5 million dollars? To do what, exactly? Sit in an office with his thumbs up his ass? Can someone point to me what it is he does to earn this paycheck? I know what our guys do to earn their money.....how about we have some forensic accountants pour over Bettman's financials to see where this money is coming from and where it's going.

1) Who is your favorite Detroit Red Wing player overall to wear the Red Wings Logo? // Steve Yzerman. 2) Who was your favorite Detroit Red Wing player that joined the red wings? (Non drafted by Wings, could be threw Trade / FA / Waiver etc...) // Brett Hull 3) Which current player would you dream of them joining the Wings? // Henrik Lundqvist - We need more Swedes. He's also a great goalie, which we could use 4) Which are the players that really "hurt / bugged" you when they left the Red Wings to join another team? // Can't think of one. 5) Is there a player that you never wanted him on the team ... but eventually joined the team? // Todd Bertuzzi

What is up with Illitch's hair? Is that a wig from the Phil Spector "Wall of Sound" collection? Fair winds and following seas, Drapes. Hope to see you hanging around Joe Louis this coming season.
-
Maybe I'm not as cool as the rest of you, but I don't see what the problem is with the new logos. Looks better than the old one, IMO. Then again, I'm not angling to be a judge on the next season of Project Runway.

He's got a portrait of Dorian Gray in his attic.

Your post was the equivalent of saying "Good riddance, go f*** yourself." If you think that's acceptable, that's your problem. The rest of us shouldn't have to deal with it.
-
Well, this has certainly been a bummer of a day, but the plus side to this is that Ozzie is staying with the team, albeit in a different capacity. One of the greatest goalies to ever wear our uniform, I hope to one day see #30 in the rafters where (IMO) it belongs. Fair winds and following seas, Ozzie. *salutes*

It sucks to see him retire, but I don't blame him for wanting to move on. We'll all say the same thing the day you stop posting here.
-
Why should the waiting period be waived? He's not dying, is he? Unless he's got a terminal illness that will end his life before the three years post-retirement are up, there's no good reason (that I can see) to waive it.

*ahem* Nick Lidstrom is the man, was the man, is the man. *ahem*
-
This is obviously fantastic news, because we're better with Nick even at 85% than we are with no Nick at all. My question is, I haven't read through all 5 pages of this thread thus far......how many people bitched/complained/hemmed & hawed at the price of the contract? I would like to think the number is zero, but you never know.
