As a Wings fan, I don't give two flying figs about the Canucks one way or the other. The only team I care about is the Red Wings. If you're not the Red Wings, you're basically meaningless to me. So it's incredibly irresponsible to think, even by some small measure, that Wings fans in toto have some seething, burning hatred for your hockey team. It's not like you're a Penguins fan. People here are not the barometer by which all other Wings fans are to be measured.

BTW just as an aside, the couple making out in the street has been identified, and they weren't really making out. The woman had been knocked to the ground by a police shield and her boyfriend was giving her a kiss to say that she'd be alright. Apparently she has one hell of a nasty bruise on her leg, but that's it.

While clearly not representative of every single Canucks fan in Vancouver, this is no less disturbing and incredibly embarrassing. For f***'s sake, you lost the Stanley Cup. You'll get over it. I don't recall Detroit burning when we lost in 2009. It sucks, you wish it didn't happen, but that's not an excuse to destroy property, start fires, and generally act like neanderthals let loose on the landscape. The f*** is wrong with people sometimes?

The answer to this question is always no. The Wings need to get younger, not older. I don't give a flying doo-dad what he did when where or why.
-
They need to hang out with a better class of people.

Being alive causes cancer. So the only way to not get cancer is just drop dead. I understand that some things pose an inherent cancer risk like smoking, inhaling asbestos dust, genetics.....but at this point, there's a new study coming out every week that yet another mundane thing WILL ABSOLUTELY ******* KILL YOU DEAD!!!!! (Story at 11) and it's starting to lose its shock value. What next, mascara causes cancer of the eyelashes?

I'm sure his feet were numb, but he told himself to just walk on.

Bono must believe in God's mysterious ways, because right before Brule stopped his car, The Edge sent him a text message saying "If you're not here in 30 minutes, we're going on with or without you." He sure must have thought he was stuck in a moment he couldn't get out of. BTW, this reminds me I really need to put some U2 on my iPod.

My best friend and her husband live right outside Nashville, and they go to tons of Predators games, and according to them the games are sold out, if not 95% sold out. So while hockey didn't work in Atlanta, that doesn't mean it can't work anywhere else in the South, just that the odds are stacked against them.
-
In the 7 years I lived in the Atlanta area, I only went to a handful of Thrashers games, and none of them were completely sold out. I feel bad for the fans who enjoyed going and developed a relationship with the team and its players, but this is another example of why there are just some places hockey will never, never work. The South on the whole, is more into NASCAR and collegiate sports. Transplanted Northerners (like my family) will get into it because they're coming from areas where hockey exists and is strong, but it's next to impossible to make it really, really work.

It's not Detroit, and it's not Tampa, since the only reason I wanted them to do well was because of the Yzerman connection. So.....thus I don't really care who wins. I don't hate either team, I just don't give a damn which one wins. I have no interest, no matter how passive, in either team. It would be different if say, either San Jose or Pittsburgh were in it, because that would give me a reason to watch since I hate both teams and want to see them lose any time they take the ice.
-
Tampa got eliminated, so I don't really care who wins. I just hope it's over soon.

Purely my opinion, but I wouldn't put basketball players on the same level as hockey players when it comes to athletic stamina. It's less physically demanding to play basketball than it is to play hockey.

LET'S GO YZERBOLTS!
-
I initially thought it was for current players, though if you're going to throw in retired players as well, Yzerman has to be at the top of the list.

Why did people neg this post? Can't anyone understand sarcasm anymore? BTW, I would add Tie Domi, Tony Twist, and Marty McSorely to your esteemed group.

Pick a Wing, any Wing.

I've had beer dumped on me at the United Center, I've gotten called every foul word for a woman you can possibly think of and then some.....but that doesn't mean I don't think people should watch Wings/Hawks games there, nor does that mean I think all Hawks fans are classless punks. There are assholes EVERYWHERE. Even we have them. What the hell kind of dipstick decides to broadbrush an entire group of people just because SOME rode his ass a little? Grow up man, it's hockey. If I'm a 5'2 female and I can take it, so can you.

This might be a dumb question, and if so I apologize. Say the Wings win the Western Conference Finals next season, and then before the start of the following season, the team is moved into the Eastern Conference. Since we're no longer in the Western Conference, are we still in the Western Conference champs? Do we get some funky asterisk next to our name or something? Like I said, sorry if it's a dumb question.

Nice to see the Sharks continuing their special brand of stupidity in the WCF. It's obviously serving them very well.

His family still lives in Michigan.

Before I even opened the thread, I had already guessed kook and Edi's reactions. I'm happy they're happy.

Which conference would you rather have the Wings in?
Electrophile replied to weGotTheCup89's topic in General
I'd love the Wings to move to the Eastern Conference. Less travel, better schedule, and I think the Wings would step up the talent in the Eastern Conference since it's generally seen as the weaker of the two.
