See! A silver lining appears.

....and Nick Mason was the drummer for Pink Floyd, who had an album called The Wall. My god, it's all so clear to me now.......

That's a bold prediction.

One of these crazy old nights We're gonna find out pretty mama What turns on your lights

Score a goal, Red Wings. You know what those are, those things where the red light starts flashing and spinning and s***. Do that.
-
Please don't let this game get away from us. Please.

While I agree, I'd rather be struggling to overcome a one-goal deficit than a larger one. At least here we still have a chance.
-
I'm looking at a positive here -- at least Jimmy hasn't given up 6 goals. A one-goal deficit is doable, IMO.
-
I'm confident we'll win, but there's no way I'm guessing on a score. There's no telling how airtight our defense/goaltending will be on any given evening, so there's no way to know if we'll need 10 goals or 2 to win. I hope it's the latter, not former FWIW.

2/2 GDT: Franzen 5 + Red Wings 2 (7) at Senators (5)

Now see, that's the kind of player Hank is. Instead of taking the EN for himself, he passes the puck to Mule. Love it. -

Wow, this game by Franzen tonight reminds me of when Sergei Fedorov scored I think it was all 6 goals that one night. I remember him collapsing after the last one, more out of disbelief than anything else. -

That's because unless you're perfect, you're s***. We make Yankees fans and their crazy demands on their players look sane in comparison. I should know, I'm one of each. -

What a s***-tastic game. We're lucky we're winning. At the moment, anyway. -
One month doesn't sound like enough time to sober up or dry out, so I'm not convinced this will last very long. That said, I hope it does.

I'm surprised that this thread only went 2 1/4 pages thus far. Were that many people not watching it this year?

Of course everyone wants to play for the Wings. We treat our players well, respect them, and have the best management/ownership in the league. Now THAT is real point of pride.

Nabokov claimed by NYI, refuses to report, suspended

I don't know if that's sarcasm or not, but think of For Whom The Bell Tolls. It means to cause a bell to sound slowly, and is repeated. -
Ducks Sued for Anti-Semitism by Former Draft Pick
Electrophile replied to Konnan511's topic in General
There are a lot of things that happen in a hockey game that for good reason, cannot happen in the real world. For example, I cannot walk up to someone, give them a dirty look, and then shove them into a wall. It's not acceptable to jam your neighbor in the stomach with the stick end of your rake because he insulted your wife's petunia bushes. Someone point out to me where though, inappropriate comments about a person's religious background are an acceptable part of the game. Would you ever hear of Nick Lidstrom saying stupid crap like that? Probably not, and he knows hockey more than any person posting here. I'm not saying this kid should go through with the lawsuit, because he shouldn't. This isn't lawsuit worthy. That doesn't mean however, the coach should be let off the hook. You say something dumb like that, you face the consequences. -

Some people have more dollars than brain cells. This guy is one of them. What kind of idiot says s*** like this in the first place? You don't like Jews? Okay, that's your right. Keep it to yourself though, because no one cares or needs to know. Especially the Jewish kid. I don't agree with the lawsuit, but this coach should get smacked in the face with a frozen trout. Or maybe a menorah. -
I gave you +1 for positively enforcing the positive enforcing of honesty.

Four (5) Changes Scotty Bowman Would Like To See

I never had issues with ties, and I hate shootouts. So I guess the soccer system (or football for our European Wings fans) is what I would support. -

Goodness gracious, the man wants to play for the Red Wings, let him freakin' play for the Red Wings. -
That is my opinion. I don't see the appeal of enforcers, but if we need one to win, we should get one. If we don't need one to win, we shouldn't get one. Right now, I don't think we need one.
-
My opinion is for whichever choice will give the Wings the best chance game after game to win.

Four (5) Changes Scotty Bowman Would Like To See
Electrophile replied to Louisville's topic in General
I'm glad you think so. Shootouts still suck. I've hated them since day 1. I am for any rule change that outright eliminates them. As for the points system, I don't think teams should be rewarded for a loss. A tie isn't a win, but at least it's not a loss. Is my memory failing in my old age of 28, or isn't that how it used to be? 3 points for a regulation win, 2 points for an OT win, 1 point for a tie. No points for losing. If you want to reward winning in OT more than just tying, then go back to how it used to be. The point is, I ******* hate shootouts. The league did just fine without them. They can do fine without them again.
