I said it shortly after Steve retired (though I wasn't a member here at the time), but Nick's retirement is going to be harder to deal with both for the fans and for the players, than when Steve hung 'em up. Steve is irreplaceable and always will be, but there were players being groomed to follow him when he was gone. We have no such system in place re: Nick. When he finally decides to call it a career, there's going to be a giant hole to fill that may never properly be filled for years.

I see why Crosby is winning and I despise the little turd as much as everyone else here, but I must echo the sentiments of other people in this thread -- I don't care how many years have passed, how long he's been out of hockey, whether he's apologized/made amends/brought cookies to the Draper house.....don't care. Claude Lemieux will never NOT be a big pile of ****** on a bed of s***head, wreathed in asswipe.

Four (5) Changes Scotty Bowman Would Like To See
Electrophile replied to Louisville's topic in General
There are enough teams in the playoffs. I'd say there are too many. MLB only has 4 teams in the playoffs per league, and there's nearly the same number of teams per league as there are teams per conference in the NHL. No, as much as I hate the Wild Card (oh yes do I hate it), I'd rather see the NHL institute something similar to pare down the number of playoff teams by half for each conference than add more. Top 4 teams per conference --> 1 plays 4, 2 plays 3. Winners go to the Conference finals, winners of that series play for the Cup. Simple. How many more mediocre teams do you want to reward with a playoff spot? -

One change I'd wish they'd make is eliminating the shootout. It's a skills competition that belongs in the ASG, not a game that actually means anything. Why not have "hardest shot" be the new qualifier for who wins if there's a tie after OT? I mean, it's just as dumb. This is the points system I'd like to see instituted: 3 pts = regulation win, 1 pt. = overtime win or tie, 0 pts. = any loss. It'll never happen, but a gal can dream. -
Nabokov claimed by NYI, refuses to report, suspended

I'm a trifle disappointed that only one person knew the reference for my "going Galt" analogy. -
I don't hate Crosby because other people do, and therefore I'm scared of not "fitting in." I hate him because he's a giant, flaming *******.

Brett Lebda.

Of course they don't care. Therein lies the problem. I'm not a native North Carolinian, but I do live here now, and I take pride in where I live, the same as anyone else here. So when people start dumping on where I live, that's a problem. It's not my fault that some people here are ignorant buffoons.

Can you guys quit s***ting on Raleigh? In case you weren't aware, Raleigh, NC is not out in Hicksville with the people whose family trees don't fork. There's plenty of areas like that all over this state (sadly), but Raleigh's not one of them. There's a TON of transplanted Northerners from the Midwest and Northeast living there and in Cary (think Westchester, NY), so it's actually very, very non-rural/Deliverance. The Raleigh-Durham-Chapel Hill area is one of the most educated, affluent parts of the state.

Great picture, but you might want to re-size your signature image. 400x100 is the limit.

Haha, Nabby's going Galt. This is hysterical. -
Oh goodie, Draperfan is here to tell us who the real fans are and who the s*** fans are. Just what would make this afternoon all the better.

$0.02 hot dogs......you could get 50 for the price of just one $1 hot dog. That's a pretty damn good deal.

Did Nabokov just go Galt?

39 years ago today, my parents got married. In honor of that, I'd like the Blackhawks to lose, and lose badly.
-
Does this mean if Floppa returns, we can start calling them the Divealanche again?

I still don't know if this is a good move or a s*** move. I know we're kind of hard up for goalies right now, but I'm not totally feeling this. -
We're winning. I'll take a boring win over an exciting loss any day.
-
Seriously, why would anyone bother with s***ty video feeds when you can listen to the Detroit radio feed online, with zero problems? Listening is just as good as watching.

I just checked the score. I wish I could I was surprised. I know we're battling injuries right now, but that's no excuse for not showing up. Let's get it together in the 2nd, and I mean pronto.

The Red Wings theme song right should be Yakety Sax. So, any time you're reading a story about another Wing going down with an injury, cue up the song. It'll make this seem far less depressing than it actually is. So on that note.......

Bitching about all the bitching about Crosby is equally as annoying, and takes up as much space in a thread as the actual bitching about Crosby. So in essence, you're contributing to the problem by saying you're above it.

THN: Zetterberg should be disciplined for skipping ASG
Electrophile replied to edicius's topic in General
Raleigh is really, really nice. I've been there more than a few times. Now, you want Mayberry......you can go to Mount Airy, which is where Andy Griffith was born, and the inspiration for the town of Mayberry. It's a hop, skip, and a spit away from Virginia. -
Oh goody, the Penguins. For the love of whatever higher power you do or do not ascribe to, please win this game. If only to keep the discussion off Concussion Boy.

The Red Wings are to the NHL what the Yankees are to baseball, what the Patriots are to football, and what the Lakers are to basketball. Any chance a "writer" has to criticize a player from any of the above-mentioned teams, they'll take it. Why? They're guaranteed readers/debate/discussion. The same happened in the late 80s and 90s with the Chicago Bulls and the Dallas Cowboys. We really ought to be happy that someone from outside Detroit knows who the hell Hank is, considering the NHL markets only two players.....and he ain't one of them.
