I concur, but it goes with the territory. Neither of the two sports teams I root for are from the city I was born/raised in or even where I currently live. It sucks when people assume you're a bandwagon fan or say that you can't be a "real" or "true" fan unless you're from the chunk of dirt the team is from, but I just consider the source. Fans who aren't threatened, bothered or annoyed by fans from other locales don't give a s*** where you're from. They're just happy they have someone else they can take about said team with. Me, there aren't a whole lot of Red Wings/baseball team I root for fans around here, so message boards/blogs are a great way for me to interact with them, including fans like me who aren't from there. The minute someone calls me a bandwagoner or something, I just dismiss them and move on. You should do the same -- don't let their sophomoric attitude piss you off.

People call Osgood "OsBad" because they think they're being witty and clever when they're really being infantile and ridiculous.

I still have heartburn from last night's baseball game (oy vey), so I'm hoping that between the game this afternoon and the Wings' game tonight, I'm feeling super-duper awesome sauce. Wings win, Hank with the hat trick, this is old hat to you by now.

I wouldn't say we need better fans, we need the fans we do have to be less reactionary when there's no reason for it. We've played all of four games and already we have threads saying so-and-so needs to retire, so-and-so should be traded, is so-and-so slowing down, what should we do with so-and-so.....it's ridiculous. Aren't these the threads you expect to see after you get eliminated from the playoffs or at least during the off-season? Not when you haven't played enough games to fill out a whole hand full of fingers. I think that's why a lot of quality posters don't come around here anymore and the ones that stay, don't post much. There's no room for rational, calm discussion about the team/individual players.

I'm 99% confident that this is Nick's last season, regardless of what the team does this season. Nick's 40 and while that's not exactly old by Wings standards (Chelios anyone?), he doesn't strike me as the kind of person who overstays his welcome. Meaning, he'll do what Steve did -- retire when he feels he can no longer contribute to the team anymore.

We have some of the most spoiled, entitled, bitter fans on the planet. If we don't win 10-0 every night, everyone sucks or is too old/should be traded. It doesn't matter whose fault it actually was, if it was one player having a s*** night while everyone else was doing their best to overcome it or if it was the whole team crapping the bed. This is every. damn. season. It's relentless. We've played four games. FOUR. F-O-U-R. 1-2-3-4. Une, deux, trois, quatre. Uno, dos, tres, quatro.

Hence my follow up comment to Doc saying that this is embarrassing. And it is. Four games into the season and only the 2nd game he's started? For serious? If my eyes roll back any further into my skull, I'll be looking at my brain stem.

How typical. Four games into the season and already, we're throwing Ozzie under the bus and putting it in reverse. The Chicken Littles around here are getting their start earlier and earlier every year. No s***. It's embarrassing.

Tell me about it. I first started watching the Wings when I was in grammar school and almost all those guys are either just about retired or already retired and moving on to other things. People younger than us will feel the same way when Pavs and Hank and Mule and that crowd retires.

We suck in the shoot-out. It's aggravating. Every time one of our games goes into OT, I'm always dreading us not scoring and having to go into the shoot-out. Do they practice this enough? Because as someone up-thread said, they do the same things every time and they clearly aren't working.

Okay, I'm sure you can find other reasons to attack his argument than the fact he uses big words. You know believe it or not, some people talk like that in their everyday life and it's not some attempt to condescend to others. It's not the first time I've seen someone go after Crymson for that and I think it's really sad. There's no premium on sounding educated or well-read anymore and if you do, you're accused by everyone else of thinking you're smarter/better than everyone else or trolling thesauri for words. /rant off

I missed the rest of the game because our damn internet has been out the last 2 hours (******* TimeWarner)......so I'm beyond pissed to see we lost the game but color me not surprised that we lost in a shoot-out. Not only have we sucked at them recently, I hate them and have never liked them.

No I have not. I don't watch a lot of TV -- some of the few times I watch TV, even if online, is for Wings games. If it's on YouTube, I'll check it out.
