The negs are gone. It's all sweetness and light here now at the new LGW. As for the name, I think Lilja is beautiful, but I would go with Lilja Marie Lowell, personally. May and Marie are both derivations on the same name (Mary), so it could work.

Succinct, but to the point. I had hoped he'd come back and be able to play for the Wings, but it appears that's not to be. In any event, I wish him well in his future endeavors and I hope that maybe he'll find his way back to the Winged Wheel. If not, it's been a slice.

I understand steroids' appeal in baseball. What I don't understand is how steroids would help a hockey player, aside from the injury recovery time. Obviously hockey players need to be strong, but don't they also need to be somewhat agile as well? Barry Bonds on skates would be a hindrance to a team, I would think.

Okay, that sucks. I hope it's an isolated incident though, and we don't see a rash of groin injuries all of a sudden. Last season our roster resembled an emergency room more than a hockey team. I do hope he recovers quickly and can rejoin the team.

Watch it be Nick or Ozzie or some other vet. If we get off to a slow start or we're decimated by injuries again and things aren't going well, people will be calling for their heads. If not them, then probably Bertuzzi or Flip. I don't know. I don't really go after players individually unless they do something so egregious you'd look stupid not to.

I believe you can listen to the games for free through the Wings' radio feed on the station's website. That's what I do. You don't need to watch the game in order to follow it/enjoy it.

Edit: That section only applies to members of the government -- never mind. I feel like Emily Litella now.

I've only seen the original three movies (A New Hope, Empire Strikes Back, Return Of The Jedi) and I thought the Ewoks were stupid.

Nope. I've never liked shootouts and thought they reeked of "gimmick". The fact we sucked so bad at it didn't help, but it didn't spur it on. You win as a team or you lose as a team, and shootouts are more about the individual than the team. Is it exciting to see Pavs deke some goalie out of their shorts? Yeah. Would I rather see him do it during the All-Star Game or some other exhibition game than a regular season game that has actual consequences? Yes. Because let's face it, for every Pavel Datsyuk, there's about 20 players who couldn't do that on their best day. It's not interesting. It's not entertaining.

I think the Wings logo has nothing to do with hockey and more because he was in a band called Wings.

I'd be lying if I said I wasn't disheartened by the number of guys saying their girlfriends/wives/significant others are only interested in hockey/the Wings because of "cute guys". I can't count the number of times I've gone to hockey games or even baseball games over the summer and had guys ask me if I was only there because of cute guys/rich athletes and not because I have a genuine love and interest in the sport.

I know, I know. It's shocking.

Seeing as I'm a chick and therefore have neither a wife nor a girlfriend, I can speak only for myself and I'd say I'm a pretty big fan. I watch/listen to as many games as I can, I post regularly here during the season/post-season and try to keep up with NHL news as much as possible.
