It took me about a good 10 minutes to realize "futcher" was supposed to be "future". That's kind of embarrassing. For me.

Yes. He along with Datsyuk and a couple other players are the cornerstones of the future of the franchise, once Ozzie, Drapes, Maltby, Homer and Nick finally retire. We have a lot of really great young guys that I think are going to be around for a while, and Hank and Pavs are going to be the Steve/Nick tandem to guide those players, like Steve & Nick did for the both of them. So it was absolutely a great idea to sign him as long as we did. He'll retire as a Wing and maybe will end up one of the all-time greats, with #40 in the rafters. Who knows. I'm glad he's here and not doing what he does for someone else.

The only team I have favorite players for is the Red Wings.

I love Homer. Homer is awesome. We're better with Homer than we are without him, IMO. He is not a hall-of-famer.

Now there's an idea. I hate shootouts and think they're ridiculous but if the league doesn't want to go back to ties in the event of no future scoring after three periods and one overtime, they should come up with something else. I would also agree that eliminating the instigator penalty would be a great start, along with better training for refs/linesman and for the reviewers in Toronto who have to look over contested goals. I would gather that about 30% of the bitching and complaining fans have over the length of a full season would be eliminated if just those three things I mentioned above were dealt with.

#24 shouldn't be retired. Taken out of circulation for a while, maybe. Retired? Nope. In order to get your number retired by the Wings you need to go above and beyond. Neither player did that, as beloved by the fans as they were.

No one hates Joe Sakic because he's a decent guy. He was the only decent thing about those Avs teams. The rest of the team were a bunch of douchebags. Patrick Roy? Forsberg? Claude Lemieux? Mike Ricci? Douches, every last one of them.

Let's see....there is the fact he was a Colorado Avalanche, the Pittsburgh Penguins of the late 90s....but that couldn't possibly be it.

Speaking only for myself, I have respect for Modano -- I haven't read anything that would make me disrespect him. The reason I have no interest in buying a Modano Wings jersey is partly financial and partly he's not a long-time Red Wing. That's nothing against the guy personally, as you said it's not his fault Dallas drafted him and not Detroit.

Imagine how people who bought Marian Hossa jerseys feel.

That's putting it mildly. I agree that there are some changes that need to be made, but holy crap that's not some of them.

Hank scoring 40 or 50 goals would be great, but it's not important to me in the bigger picture. If he, along with everyone else that will be on the team, can be productive for 82 games and we can avoid getting decimated by injury after injury after injury, we're golden. That will be a more exciting accomplishment -- getting through a season nearly injury-free.

I know. Hockey season means summer is over and that means this insanely oppressive heat will be gone, too. Heat indexes of 110+ suck.

This is the only instance when I have no issues with Pittsburgh being #1. I think it's quite well-deserved, no? While the Wings have had a ton of success over the years and have thus incurred the wrath of players/fans from all over the league, we don't have any douchenozzles on our team, last I checked. Yes we have players who will get in your face and can cause trouble, but they're not douches. Pittsburgh has douches. And they can stay there, frankly.
