I wonder if that $300,000 difference will suddenly give Nick "character" now.

The implication being that Nick has no character? Well isn't that a nice thing to say about our captain and future Hall of Famer. "f*** that Lidstrom, he's a greedy prick." I love how I say I'm rooting for the Hawks to win the Stanley Cup because it would mean something to my dad and that means I'm a traitor but saying Nick Lidstrom has no character and is essentially a money-hungry ******* is the mark of a "true" fan.

This is unfathomable to me. One of the greatest players the Red Wings have EVER had, just signs a one-year contract to stay with the team rather than retire, which we all feared........and people are pissed? Jesus, no wonder people think we're spoiled. Maybe Nick should have retired. Then you people really would have something to ***** about.

I guess I should be quite fortunate then that your definitions and opinions on who is and who is not a fan mean jack squat. There's a very short list of things my dad wants to see/do before he dies, which by the way, nearly happened last year.....and seeing the Hawks win the Cup is one of them. It's one thing when the Wings are playing the Hawks, it's another when we're not. This is important to him, so it's important to me. If you can't grasp that, that's your failing in life, not mine. My dad rooted for the Wings in 1997, since Game 4 was on my birthday and he wanted that for me as a birthday present. I'm returning the favor. If you don't like that......I don't really care.

Answer my question. I'm getting tired of the likes you thinking you can determine who is a fan and who is not, and who is what kind of fan and who is this kind of fan.........I'm getting sick to ******* death of it. Nice to see the Hawks leading after 2. Another solid 20 minutes and they're halfway to the Cup. My dad is kinda pissed that he couldn't make it up to Chicago for either of these two games, although he's contemplating going up there if it goes 5.

Yeah, none of his friends here are Hawks fans. None of them really follow hockey, not even the Hurricanes. My mom and sister watched most of the game with him, but they went up to bed. I mean this nicely. Shut up.

You should have heard it back when Chicago Stadium was still around. Wayne Messmer would sing that and you could hear it from the street. It was great.

My dad's juiced. He's got two pepperoni pizzas, his favorite double IPA beer and his Chelios jersey on. He's ready to go.

Gary Bettman is bar none, the stupidest league commissioner in North American professional sports. He makes Bud Selig look like Kennesaw Mountain Landis. It takes a lot to make Bud Lite look competent, sane and intelligent in comparison but boy is Gary working hard to make that happen.

Asking how we cope makes it sound like there was a death in the family. It sucks when your favorite team gets eliminated but life goes on. I've got my baseball team, my friends and family, my birthday is coming up.....lots of things to keep me occupied and busy until October.

Then let's hope Nick decides to come back for next season, otherwise it's going to be ugly.
