I think it's funny -- we lose a game in OT, there's 66 pages. We win a game 7-1 to stave off the sweep.....30 pages.

Pavs looks like a slight guy, someone you might underestimate in a fight, but I bet that guy can kick your ass so hard, your grandparents feel it.

I would hope that people temper their optimism with some realism. We all want the Wings to win tonight, partly for pride, partly because this could be Nick's last game and you don't want him going out like that and partly because we know we CAN win a game. That said, deep down inside I have to believe they know it's just not going to happen, but don't want to admit it. Which is what makes us fans; the belief that anything can happen when you know nothing will happen.

The difference is, when Steve retired, we had already started transitioning new guys in (Pavs, Hank) to make his absence less noticeable. We have no one like that to help when Nick leaves. THAT'S why his absence will be that much more difficult.

I sincerely hope not. Dissing Crosby on a message board is one thing; pulling that out when we're not even playing the Penguins is another thing entirely. If I was at the game and heard anyone doing that, I'd tell them to shut the hell up.

I really hope we don't lose this series but IF we do.....please don't lose it at home. I don't want Nick's final game in a Red Wing uniform to be watching this team get swept out of the playoffs. That would piss me off more than actual loss. He deserves better than that, for all he's done for this team and for the sport. It sucked when Steve retired but it's REALLY going to suck when Nick finally hangs 'em up. People think the team is playing poorly now......

As a Yankees fan that has been hated on many, many, MANY times over the last 16 years......that ain't even close to true. People hate Yankees fans, absolutely.....and I love that.....but it has nothing to do with the fact the Yankees play in New York City. Quite a few fans have a holier-than-thou attitude (which irks me, but I can't do anything about that) but it's more than likely connected to the team's past and current successes than because of the city they play in. That's ridiculous. Why would you hate a team's fans because of the city they play in? They have no control over that. If people hate Red Wings fans because of the city of Detroit, they're morons.

Legitimate. Same goes for the fan bases of every other sports team, NHL or otherwise. Maybe if your team was better, the opposition's fans wouldn't drown out the home team's fans. I hear Baltimore Orioles' fans ***** about this constantly - that Yankees and Red Sox fans out number their own fans at Camden Yards. Well.....maybe if your team didn't suck so bad you'd have more fans there and then the other teams' fans wouldn't be so noticeable.

Make it a charitable event/drive. "Tase The Pens To Stamp Out Cancer" or something like that. All the players line up and we give sick kids or their parents taser guns and for $10 a pop, they can tase the player of their choice. Everyone else can do it for $25 a pop. The money gets collected in a huge oil drum (because demand will be that high) and then at the end of the day, the cash is divvied up to local hospitals. Crosby can take a few shots to the yambag for some sick kids, right?

Yes. You have 4 minutes to think about what that reason might be. Starting.....NOW.

If this is indeed Nick's last season, then expect to see Hank wearing the C at training camp in September.

LOL. The fact that such a term even exists burns my ass, but what can you do? They wanted it more. Six years removed I can be honest about that. I'd love to see the Wings pull it off, though.
