Please don't feel you have to rush anything. We ALL can wait until you have the time to work on everything. No one here is going to drop dead if the new skin isn't ready or the new wallpaper isn't done, and frankly it's insulting to be so demanding to someone you don't know, for something you don't pay for. Just my $0.02.

I don't like the reputation system either. We've clearly seen in this thread how it's being abused by people who are just going around giving negative points to people they don't like, regardless of what the post actually says. How does that promote a friendly and welcoming forum atmosphere? I'm sure I'll get a slew of negative points for saying that, but anyone who does is merely demonstrating their immaturity. I feel bad for people like Jack (SWF) who always make solid and positive contributions to the board, and are getting caught up in this.

Thank God we won. Losing this game would have meant it's time to form the toll booth on the Ambassador for the bridge jumpers.

I wasn't aware of that. Now that I do know, I hope he rots. Instead of saying something like that, why not ask if people are aware of the incident, since it obviously isn't common knowledge or else someone would have mentioned it in either this thread or the myriad of threads we've had about drunk driving. BTW, I don't call intentionally driving 90 mph in a residential zone, when you don't even have the excuse of intoxication to fall back on, an accident. He knew he was driving too fast and he didn't care enough to slow down. Sounds rather.......retarded, to use your terminology. If I was the DA, I would have charged him with 2nd degree murder because you and I both know that if you or I had been driving that car at that speed in that area, and someone died as a result....that's exactly what would have happened to us. He got treated differently because he was a well-known sports figure in Atlanta at the time. Let's not pretend that had nothing to do with it.

Synder didn't deserve to die. Just because he wasn't telling Heatley to slow down or stop the car because he wanted to get out doesn't mean he deserved BEING KILLED. Should he have said something? Absolutely. I would have. That doesn't make what Heatley did any less criminal or Synder any less dead. Heatley was perfectly sober, there was no excuse on God's green earth for why he was driving that damn fast. None. It can't be justified. He knew he was driving obscenely fast, he knew he was reckless and didn't give a s***. That's borderline sociopathic, if you want the honest truth. He knew he was endangering not only his life, but Synder's life and the life of anyone else who happened to be on the road that night. He didn't care. Flat-out said "f*** it" and did what he wanted. If you or I were in the exact same situation, our asses would still be in jail right now. Why isn't he in jail? Oh right.....he had name recognition in Atlanta. Forgot about that.

My sister pointed this out to me, and maybe it'll give you guys some comfort. Since the NHL has participated in the Olympics, the years that Sweden didn't win the gold, the Wings have won the Stanley Cup. 1998, 2002......2010? Maybe it's a blessing in disguise that Canada won. Or maybe not, I'm grasping at straws here. :-\

He never has anything good to say about anyone, at any time. We could win the Stanley Cup, Nick could cure AIDS and Gary Bettman could resign, handing the commish chair to Steve Yzerman, and he'd still complain that Nick's tie was crooked or Steve's suit wasn't the right color or in the 4th minute of Game 1, Howard let in a goal.

Dany Heatley was driving something like 90+ mph in a residential zone. Residential zones are usually not more than 20 or 25 mph, at least around here. He was not intoxicated. That meant he was intentionally driving close to 70 mph faster than he should have.....and why exactly? For kicks? There's a difference between driving 70 in a 60 and 90+ in a 25. It's the same difference between getting hit in the face with a pillow and getting hit in the face with a brick. I know the area where the accident happened in, I was living in Atlanta at the time. It was a two-lane, residential street. A RESIDENTIAL STREET. He could have easily lost control of that car and spun out into someone's house, killing more than just his passenger. That's reckless endangerment and criminally negligent homicide. It was an accident, but an accident caused by his absolute blinding stupidity. Why do people defend this s***? "Oh yeah, like you've never driven over the speed limit before." Yeah, if the speed limit says 35, I'll do 40 if there's no one on the road. If it's a school zone or something, I always do the speed limit. If the speed limit on the highway is 65, I'll do 70 or 75, because I go with the flow of traffic, especially on I-40. If you don't you'll get run over. However, that is nowhere near the same thing as driving through a subdivision or neighborhood, damn near clocking triple digits on the speedometer. Not even remotely close. He killed someone. He killed someone because he was a ******* moron. This wasn't self-defense, this wasn't justifiable homicide, this was Dany Heatley driving like a lunatic on a two-lane, dark, residential street and taking someone's life. He deserves no defense.
