Well you act as though the fans shouldn't want the wings to resign Franzen or Hossa, I'm fine with the cap and I wouldn't mind if they changed it to a soft cap or allowed you to resign players you drafted for a slightly lower cap hit. I can't see why you're against it. I'm don't want to see the cap go down. But I guess you like it the way it is.

Probably something similar to this: http://www.freep.com/article/20090319/SPOR...or+Marian+Hossa By next week, general manager Ken Holland should have a clearer picture of what it will take to keep Marian Hossa with the Red Wings. Advertisement Holland plans to meet with Hossa's agent, Ritch Winter, during next week's trip to western Canada. Holland is talking to the camps for Hossa and Johan Franzen, the Wings' two biggest free agents headed into summer. "Given the uncertainty of the economy, I'm moving slow," Holland said Wednesday. "But it's not only the economy. It's about team building, it's about our philosophy. We can keep Franzen and Hossa, but then we'll have to let a whole lot of other players go. I don't know if that's the answer to being competitive. But if I can get a number that I think allows us to have one extra player, you start to think more and more about doing something. Right now, I'm not really close to where I'd like to get to with either side." The Wings already have about $48 million committed toward next season. The salary cap, $56.7 million this season, is expected to stay in the same ballpark. But that's a gray area because if the Wings operate on the belief it'll rise to $58 million, only to find out the cap will be static, becoming compliant could prove cumbersome. Holland has been talking to Hossa's camp since January and to Franzen's for a bit longer, but he won't extend negotiations for either past the start of the playoffs. "I'd like to have one of them signed by mid-April, but I'm not worried if I don't," Holland said. "I'd rather have no deal than a bad deal. It's all about what direction do we want to go. I'd love to keep this team together. I like the mix of veterans and kids, but we're in a cap world, and we've made some decisions that affect future decisions." Hossa is making $7.4 million this season, and Franzen is just under $1 million. The Wings have around $9 million in current-cap space left, and though they'll likely move players this summer to create a bit more room, they're not looking to trade any core players.

That's right you don't want to keep Hossa or Franzen or get a better goaltender. Do you think we should be disciplined for drafting well and being a club players like to play for?
-
Seems to me certain teams are having financial problems even with a hard cap.
-
I would be in favor of a soft cap or reducing the cap hit of players you draft/develop. I think that something should be done either way.
-
I'm starting to think that neither one will sign until after the playoffs. Especially with Holland saying he isn't close on a contract with either one at this point.
-
It will be close but I think he'll do it.
-
I see Hossa signing only because I don't think Franzen will take a big enough hometown discount. I don't see him getting any less than 4 million a year.
-
Thank you both for the feedback. I think I'm going to place an order with "Jack" early next week.
-
Anyone?
-
So has anyone order jerseys from both LITB and "Jack"? And if you have which one do you prefer? Thanks!

Clement is a TOOL!!!
-
I'm very happy with the team we have , so there was no need to make a move.
-
Congrats to Dats!!! Looking forward to him hitting 1000
-
Good move giving Osgood some time off. Hopefully he can get it together.
-
It would be great to see Lapointe come back for a year or two. He use to be one of my favorites.
-
I feel like he was just along for the ride last night and when given the opportunity to score he did nothing. My question to you would be, do you think he is earning his salary this year? That's my main reason for saying he sucks (he doesn't really suck but for the salary he is getting paid he does) If he was only getting paid 1.5 or 2 Million a year I'd be happy with his role on the team.
-
What about his game impressed you so much last night?
-
I'm glad you're all for free speech. People are entitled to their opinions. I'm sorry that I'm not one of those wings fans that think every player on our team is gold. Have you seen him play lately? Did you see him on that 3 on 1 where he got off a terrible shot last night? His contract as it stands is overpayment on a team that is right up against that cap and has many better players that need to be resigned. Your intelligence should be in question for defending a player who is clearly playing well below the contract he's being paid.

After watching last nights game, I say we need to try and keep Hossa over Franzen and Flip sucks and should be traded.

That sucks. I hope it's only the one game that he misses.

Thanks for posting them. I think they look real good. How do you contact "Jack"?

Back spasms will keep Zetterberg from Dallas game

"The Red Wings will be without forwards Henrik Zetterberg (back spasms) and Tomas Holmstrom (groin) for tomorrow’s game against the Washington Capitals. Forward Jiri Hudler (foot) might not be available, either." Per Freep.com Well maybe it's not so minor. 2 games and counting. Get better soon Z, we really need you!
