News From Around the NHL *Mod warning page 75*

Interesting that the rules allowed this as Winnipeg is higher in the standings than Tampa. -

The current six defencemen are playing great and I don't want any of them to sit. The team's GAA is 2.21 (5th) and SA/G is 27.5 (2nd) while last season those stats were 2.89 (23rd) and 30.7 (16th). Of course I also don't like the idea of Commodore coming in cold in case there are injuries. Condition stint in the AHL? EA Sports?

That's still shows only the players' points in during their time wih Red Wings. For example it shows that Bertuzzi has played only 171 games while during his career he has played 1044 games. From that list the OP can at least check Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Franzén, Lidström, Kronwall, Holmström, Filppula, Hudler, Howard, Helm, Abdelkader, Emmerton, Ericsson and Kindl. They have never player for other teams.

I think it was quite obvious. -
Randy Carlyle probably still lives in the area.

That's because you didn't count shootout wins/losses as ties. I wonder if Detroit would lead after those have been added as Wings have had only one shootout this far. Most teams have had more.

These days teams need to pay good players star money to get them during the off-season. Last summer Buffalo, Columbus and especially Florida really wanted to upgrade their rosters by any means possible. Those who think Filppula is overpaid haven't realized that $2-3 million in 2006 is equal to $4-5 million now.

That "frozen moment" is quite cool. Larionov, Khabibulin and Kozlov. I wonder if it has felt weird for Shane Doan to play against Jets this season. He must've never thought that he'd get to play against them and even without ever getting traded.

Sure Leino's not doing well in Buffalo and his attitude didn't seem to be right when he played here. I don't get why some fans hasn't still gotten over a player who was a healthy scratch two seasons ago? Wings lost nothing in acquiring him and later trading him away. I didn't like it when he stated that he doesn't want to spend another season in the AHL but I wasn't that hurt that I would still gripe about it. Many players feel like he does but are wise enough not to say it aloud. Then again players would go crazy if besides all the pressure of playing in the NHL they had to care what fans think about them.

NHL.com - Shanahan's video explanation Waitwhat? You're an adult? Whoops.

There was an article at a Finnish newspapers' website stating that Selänne has been traded to San Jose. It took me a moment to realize that the article was 10 years old and I guess there was a bug at the website as the piece was among the latest sports news. Funny thing is that it went to state how Selänne was "too old" at age 30 and Ducks was happy to get a young gun Jeff Friesen (then age 24) in return.

TSN.ca Boston ended up winning the game 6-2. The last three goals were scored on the back-up goalie Jhonas Enroth as Miller was pulled after the second period due to "sore neck". NHL.com

I think a big reason for why NHL hasn't changed it is because the league loves traditions. You wouldn't be able to compare teams' seasons now for what happened say in the 1970's. Although the OTL point already changed that but there's still the old idea that only great teams get 100 points in a season. Three point system would make the comparing impossible in an obvious way. I think NHL being such an old league with many traditions can be seen often in the way how long it takes for rules to evolve. The rink is still small, the icing is still no-touch, players still won't cover their necks. I'm fine with this, I'm just saying that I can see NHL slowly following other leagues in the world in development. They just want to think about everything long and hard. Then there's also the stuff like "trapezoid" which breaks up my theory as the rule looks like it was invented and implemented in five minutes.

That's what she said.

Only four Wings players didn't have a shot in the first period.

Red Wings recall forward Chris Conner from Grand Rapids

Brunsström's wife is giving birth any day now so Wings allow him to stay home for the road trip. -
Too bad for Brunnström. He didn't really impress but he played just under 8 minutes. Oh, big part of the reason must be because Brussntröm's wife is giving birth soon so they are letting him stay home for the road trip. They need to have 13th forward in case of injuries.

I'd like to know that too. Especially when it wasn't Stamkos who highsticked him.

NHL.com seems to confuse Jonathan Ericsson with Loui Eriksson as they've given a title "Brother Loui" for Big E's goal highlight.
