I don't have an opinion on how good Smith was yesterday. I just want to add that he's only 22. Kronwall and Ericsson were both 25 when they played their first full seasons in the NHL. Jakub Kindl was 23 when he played 48 games last season but got to play that much mainly because of injuries. Most likely Smith is not NHL ready yet, but that's nothing to worry about. It's not Wings' style to rush their prospects and they never have a reason to. Smith will play a season or two more in the AHL.

Regular season would never start without this question.

Damn... The waiver rule is complicated. I'm still almost sure that MacDonald has to be waived to be sent down and then can be called up without exposing him to re-entry waivers.

Sometimes refs miss stuff. I like both Conklin and MacDonald, but having them both up doesn't make much sense to me. Even if they need to take the risk of losing one of them. Skaters get injured more often than goalies. How could a veteran like him be waiver exempt?

Malkin has lost 70% of his faceoffs. At first I was suprised, but then I realized that he's been against Datsyuk and Johnson who are both great.

Sorry. Being sensitive is part of my profession. Anyway, yeah, Mursak will probably be a healthy scratch for a few games. But there's usually at least one forward injured and Mursak is higher in the depth chart than Emmerton.

Christ, I didn't say he's going to play in every game. Wings' roster will include 14 forwards and 7 defensemen. He is one of the top 14 forwards.

Can't see that happening. No matter how slow and injured he's been he still scored almost 20 goals last season. These kids and tryouts (Emmerton, Miller, Conner, Brunnström, Johnson...) might be good players, but what Holmström brings to the team is special. Besides this there's also the fact that the organization is also very loyal to veterans who've spent their careers with the team.
