Someone needs to go to Slovakia and bring him another Kopecky this time in a bellboy suit.
-
Hossa has Kopecky.

Very true. Some (most) teams can't just calmly offer players their true market value because there's a big risk they'll end up with no one. And when there's cap space, why not? That's why there are so many over-payments.
-
Ooh! Penguins were so lucky! Datsyuk, Lidström, Cleary, Holmström, Rafalski, Lilja, Kopecky. Not fair, give us Red Wings the Cup back.

Neither of those two over-the-boards hits were very strong hits. They were there probably just because player went over the boards. There also were some where the hit wasn't very hard, but the checked player went heavily into the boards. Meh. It's nasty how Havlat was stomped by his overzealous teammates while he was lying on the ice. Nice to see many Wings' hits on the hipcheck video, even though the old hits in the end reveal that the video was made by a Wings fan. I remember Lebda's hipchecks well.

Not trying to change the subject of this thread, but I was just watching this game and saw this: Fedorov was doing then what Zetterberg is doing now (well not now exactly).

I think because Leino is an offensive top 6 guy with slow skating while Bergenheim is fast energy guy. Although at least Sami Kapanen can be very offensive too so Leino might be a good set-up man for him.
-
You forgot Sami Salo. I think Timonen, Pitkänen, Salo, Lydman is quite a solid top four even though none of them is a star.
-
That's so you. So, has anything sad happened in your life today?

I don't think the defense is a problem for Finland as they usually play a tight team defense. Funny thing with brothers in Finnish hockey: Saku and Mikko Koivu, Jarkko and Tuomo Ruutu, Sami and Niko (who is propably a 15-17th forward), Miikka and Marko (played D in Montreal in 90's) Kiprusoff. Olli and Jussi Jokinen are not related.

This was taken when Datsyuk scored a hat trick against Dallas in 2008 playoffs.
-
He's really making some of the stand-up goalies look silly.
-
Yes and Mike, play Datsyuk and Zetterberg on the same line. Oh and Mr. Ilitch, buy the NHL and fire Bettman, Campbell, Pittsburgh Penguins and Anaheim Ducks.
-
From last season's roster only Samuelsson, Hudler, Holmström and Abdelkader didn't play on PK. Datsyuk, Zetterberg and Draper are all Selke winners or candidates while Filppula, Cleary, Franzén, Helm and Maltby aren't bad defensively either.

Interesting. There's already a long thread about this on the Blackhawks Forum.

Peltonen has been great when playing in Europe or at least in Finland. He scored a hat trick in the gold medal game of the World Championships in '95. Then I thought that he would be the one who makes the biggest impact in NHL of the Peltonen-Koivu-Lehtinen line. It turned out to be just the opposite.

Kotalik's great in NHL 2004. He can score around up to 100 points if given a top line spot (and simulating the whole season), but his overall rating is still just around 78 so you can get him very cheap.

I think the original post of this thread makes the video even funnier:

Jesus Christ, they traded Quincey to Avs! Plus Tom Preissing and a fifth-round pick.

If Chicago isn't able to sign Kane he might want to go to a team that is able to pay him more than Red Wings. Even with possible retirements and Lidström possibly getting a new smaller contract Wings won't have much space. The salary cap will drop and the retired players need to be replaced and they don't have big contracts anyway.
-
This reminds me of the announcers in NHL 2004: "He scores! What a slap shot!" "I'm glad it didn't hit the goalie or it would've knocked him into the net too."
-
When did that happen? Many people here are saying that Samuelsson was a product of Red Wings' system. Would you say the same thing about Cleary? He accomplished nothing and had bad numbers before he came to Detroit in 2005. I don't have the knowledge to agree or disagree with you about these things, but with both players there has been talk about them getting their confidence back for the first time in their pro careers when playing for Red Wings. Some Samuelsson highlights:
