It's difficult to follow this as only a professional scouts know enough of these players to have an unbiased opinion on who should be drafted. I don't have any favourites on these kids so the names just come and go. I'm interested in what happens to Rajala though. Hehe, that's funny. I didn't know that foreign people are interested in reading it. It was the first book I ever read. I was about 7 years old.

Sure, even the old grandmas fought in the trenches, but Finns sent thousands of children to Sweden during WW2. Finns fought with the nazis against the Russians. Only later when the nazis wouldn't leave their country Finns had to fight them too.
-
Nope. Finns have Eastern European ancestors while Swedes are related to Middle Europeans. Languages of Estonia and Hungary are similar to Finnish. Swedish is closer to English and probably this why Finns usually have thicker accents.
-
Oh, I didn't know that it's the same in Swedish. I'm Finnish... Many Finns escaped the second WW to Sweden. I think Ritola at least could be related to these immigrants.

There was a Finnish Formula 1 driver in the 90's called Jyrki Järvilehto. He went by the name J. J. Lehto abroad.
-
Magnus Pääjärvi-Svensson Even though he's Swedish the "Pääjärvi" part in his name is Finnish. It means "head lake" or "main lake". North Americans sure will have problems with that and he will propably get a shortened stage name when he enters the league. PS. Lilja and Ritola are Finnish names too even though they are Swedish fellows.
-
Do they even have names there? i thought that it was just "09" and team's name on the back where the players name should be.
-
He sure looked quite happy. Let's hope he won't be traded away by another of his idols (Roy) in few years.

Every team is saying the same things in the beginning. "Montreal fans, congratulations to Pinkqueens..." Stupid.
-
Crosby's gonna get some lumber... Or get stomped on. Or anything.
-
Flyers get Pronger and blah blah... Dicks get Lupul, 21st pick overall and blah blah...
-
Was he one of the bread crumb prospects in the Coach's Corner who said that their favourite player growing up was Crosby?

There's a draft tracker at TSN.ca.

If I had 3 millions I'd buy Hudler. He could live in my closet and during winters he could skate on a lake nearby.
-
Thanks, that makes much more sense. I couldn't find the rule anywhere in the internet.
-
Have I understood the RFA rule right? If a team offers Hudler a contract worth 3 millions then Red Wings can't sign him anymore with let's say 2 millions even if he wanted to stay and take a discount. Hudler must play for the team that offered 3 millions and Detroit gets the 2nd round pick. Is this correct? If this is true then it's like a trade, but a forced one for Red Wings. The other team is forcing Detroit to make a trade.

Their most important players this season (Getzlaf, Perry, Hiller and Ryan) are all one year older. Who knows? Niedermayer: "Wait, wait, wait... I dunno... I dunno!" Selanne: *fishing in Finland, cell phone off*
-
Maybe Chicago could offer Hudler 7.55 million...? Or New York Rangers. They like big contracts.

I suppose salary cap was invented to not let teams have Datsyuk, Zetterberg, Lidström, Rafalski and Franzén and then add Hossa.

That sounds great. I sure wish this selling-his-house rumour is just another of many hockey summer rumours and Wings will end up keeping him. I've never hated any Wings player and never wished the team to get rid of anyone. Especially when players spend a few years on the team I become very fond of them. Last summer was an easy one as the only players leaving were the ones who retired. I hate seeing players go to other teams. Of course there was Quincey and I had become fond of even him, even though he had played mostly in AHL.
-
Samuelsson is only selling his house because he's moving to a bigger one.
-
Wouldn't it be something if Crosby had speared Draper in the balls when he was in the handshake line?

******** for a ********.
