Wasn't it last year when Detroit lost to San Jose 9-3?
-
Blah blah blah... We just lost the Stanley Cup. The season is over. See you next Autumn. Hopefully we won't make the playoffs for five seasons so maybe certain players can get their heads out of their asses. Who am I?

You're unbelievable.

But it's Predators who are raping and Red Wings who are being raped. I think it's Preds who are *** this time.

Cherry is the mindfly of TV personalities.

Not the first time this season when this happens: San Jose is losing and Red Wings manage to lose their game too and fail to climb closer to them in the standings.

22 seconds into overtime Alexander Semin scored a game-winner from center ice with a big slap shot. Tim Thomas was so angry that he got up right away and skated quickly to the gate and off the ice. This was the Caps' 40th win this season and it was the quickest the Caps have ever gotten to 40 wins in a season. Boston is now three points ahead of Detroit with Detroit having one game in hand.

I like the way both of the teams play. I wanted Boston to lose, just because Detroit is trying to catch them and San Jose.
-
I know. I just like the photo. Trotz has done good job with Predators and their modest roster.

Picking up Leino didn't have much to do with Red Wings' scouts. He was the MVP of one of the best leagues in Europe and still undrafted. Many teams were after him.

Brendan Witt delivers a head shot to Niklas Hagman

Witt's first game back will be against Toronto. -
Even tough hockey players don't like their bellies to be pinched.

There's been some talk that Holland is looking for a depth Defenceman. Dandenault might look good, because he's fast and experienced. His salary is quite big though, but Stuart's and Holmstrom's time in the LTIR should have opened enough cap space.

Too expensive for me. Pity.

Kopecky, Chelios Healthy Scratches for Tomorrow's Game
P. Marlowe replied to Mike's topic in General
Maybe he trips on his skate laces and bangs his face on the board requiring 5000 stitches and jaw amputation. -
Just before this ten game streak Red Wings lost five (0-4-1)in a row. Sharks had their slump (1-2-4) few games ago, but now have won four in a row. Red Wings have come closer, but every time they have a chance to go pass Sharks, they seem to lose. I meant that both teams have played well, but also have lost few in a row in the last 15 games.

Maybe my memory tricks me here. I just had this blurry memory that there were more players who were at the end of their careers and Toronto gave them big contracts. Ron Francis, Phil Housley, Jyrki Lumme, Robert Reichel, Joe Nieuwendyk, Brian Leetch, Gary Roberts. Those are all good signings if their veteran presence works right and if they still have legs.

I see your point and I didn't know about those stats. Still, as you wrote, Hudler hasn't played constantly as a center in NHL. This season he has taken only 20 faceoffs. Even Cleary and Kopecky have taken more. There's propably a reason why Babcock doesn't play him as a center. I think Franzén or Filppula fit better to center the second line. Even if Franzén hadn't played center before coming to the league I think he has proved that he can handle that job well. Sometimes a line work wells if one player is more concentrated on defense so those kind of players can be spread over the line-up.

Is it time to make some major moves for this year's playoff run?
P. Marlowe replied to boomer's topic in General
Leino for Smith... Oh yeah! -
That's very true. All those players were much better in their former teams too. Before the lockout Rangers gave players like Bure, Jagr, Lindros and Holik huge contracts. Not much ever came out of it. Toronto did that too with same results. Red Wings got Hasek, Hull and Robitaille with big money and they won the cup. Something was different there. After the lockout there still are many teams that just can't seem to adjust to being more careful with the contracts and putting their money to something like player development.
