    Ottawa Senators

I never really got to know how good Meszaros, Preissing, Corvo were. I suppose they were very important to them. If Red Wings lost Lids and Raffy I'd still think the team would be in the league's top 10.

Helm and Leino will have playoff spots

I don't think Hudler knows how to take a faceoff. My turn: Datsyuk / Zetterberg / Holmström Hudler / Franzén / Hossa Leino / Filppula / Sammy Cleary / Draper / Helm and when Franzén, Holmström and Zetterberg hurt themselves: 1. Maltby, 2. Kopecky, 3. Abdelkader Lidström / Kronwall Stuart / Rafalski Lilja / Lebda Spares: 1. Chelios, 2. Meech Funny thing is that in Ea Sports' NHL games Hudler is a center.

    Rangers fire Renney

Firing a coach is also the easiest way to quickly change something big involving the team. It's like pulling your goalie in a game and replacing him with a back-up. The new coach won't necessarily be better than the one who was fired, but the change should wake players up. You could always fire the team captain, or the goalie, but changing a coach is easier. I agree that it seems that team owners are more impatient now. A playoff team fires their coach...

Helm and Leino will have playoff spots

Hudler should have his spot locked up already, I don't think he will be rotated. Imagine if Helm centered the third line and 4th line would be Leino-Draper-Hudler. Then there would be three lines that could score. That would mean that two grit players (Kopecky and Maltby) are sitting and that's not necessarily a good thing. None of them really is a center though.

Havlat was in Chicago already. Hossa was already traded to Atlanta for Heatley. Spezza still plays for them.

    Rangers fire Renney

Avery should be their new coach. He got them going 2 years ago too.

That's a mystery to me too as besides Chara and Redden they haven't really lost very important players. They're not lacking in skill that much. For some reason they were excited about their team and playing two years ago, but not anymore.

Helm and Leino will have playoff spots

Helm for Maltby isn't obvious. The 4th line will propably consist players that Babcock thinks are hot that day. When Holmstrom returns there are Draper, Helm, Maltby, Leino, Kopecky and possibly Abdelkador auditioning for a spot in the 4th.

Ty Conklin - 18th best goalie in the NHL?

Liv? Hello 2006 (or something like that).

    Howard re-assigned to GR

Griffins had three games in three days last weekend, so the plan was that Howard would be sent back to play the last one. The 10 days thing was that Osgood won't start a game during that span. Does anyone know who was backing up Larsson while Howard was up with Red Wings?

    Denis Gauthier suspended again

On February 21, 2009 Gauthier was suspended for two games for boarding on an icing call to San Jose Sharks captain Patrick Marleau. Link: Yahoo! Video 2 (a closer look) On February 2, 2009 Gauthier was suspended for five games for a high elbow head shot to Montreal Canadians defenseman Josh Gorges. Link: LA Times Video Edit: I couldn't embed the videos for some reason, so I just added the links.

    A Leaf Fan Rant

I would enjoy it if after every Red Wings loss there were this kind of videos (but made by Wings fans) posted here instead of just written rants.

Stuart might be back for Wednesday. Homer isn't close to returning.

Red Wings Vs. Sharks Feb 25th, 2009

Bruins just lost to Tampa Bay, so that helps on Red Wings' bid on the Presidents Trophy. Sharks have also done some stumbling lately, but not more than the Wings. The upcoming game will be very important.

Hate to say it...sick Marty Turco save

He'd better start playing better at JLA first.

Well at least Florida won Boston tonight.

A goal and a boy. A nice day for him.

2/21 GDT: Red Wings 2 at Wild 5

Other than wins-losses Howard's numbers are good. I don't think I've even seen him play before so I'm looking forward to it. It seems now, that Red Wings won't surpass Sharks tonight. They're leading 3-1.

Damn. Not a surprise though. It's 2-1 now.

This is an interesting night as both Sharks and Bruins are playing too. Trashers-Sharks game is still 0-0 after two periods. Bruins-Panthers game starts at 7:00 pm. NHL.com preview says that Conklin will propably start even though it was made known couple of days ago that Howard would start this game. Not the first fact they've gotten wrong.

Would Nik Antropov Fit In As A Wing?

He's so slow that LGW would love him.

2/20 GDT: Anaheim Ducks at Red Wings

Lidström was solid as usual. Kronwall was also good and had one good check in the third period. I can't remember who was the checkee. Red Wings played good offense and solid defence while Ducks pressed. When it was 4-1 in the third period it seemed that the Wings laid back a bit, but still killed six minutes of PK (with 50 second as 5-3). This week's whipping boys here are Filppula, Meech and Osgood. It's been strangely quiet about Kopecky for a few days. The public opinion seems to be that without these four players Wings would've won the last 10 games instead of going 8-1-1.

    Meech not NHL ready?

Calm down douches. He's the 7th defenceman and hasn't got much playing time in the NHL yet. Not everyone is going to come to the league like Teemu Selänne. He's still learning and the expectations with him shouldn't be too high anyway.
