Of all the tings I don't understand, the James Wisniewski love is right up there at the top. There's probably a reason he's been on four teams by the time he's 27. Is he still serving games for the Seabrook hit? The Wings had the fifth best PP int he league last year, and were better than the Sharks and the Bruins in the playoffs. The PP wasn't something that was holding the Wings back. The middle-of-the-road PK WAS. What's done on the D will depend entirely on the Lidstrom decision. If he doesn't come back, the first option is to make a deal before July 1 with the Preds to get Weber, who is everything the Wings need on the blueline. Abdelkader, Dick Assman, whoever isn't in the top six or top four. Then, go after a guy like Brooks Laich in UFA, but don't give him more than $3.5 million or longer than four years. Because I don't see any significant improvements being made by other teams in the division, the Wings have to be still considered front-runners in the division - and should treat the off-season as such.

If you thought Boudreau swore a lot in 24/7, wait until they get a load of Torts.

I used to like Lucic; thought he was going to be an impactful power forward-type in the Shanahan mould. Apparently now, he doesn't score at all and only punches guys when the game is virtually over. I've never seen anyone get so visibly, emotionally upset at referees for things that don't matter at all. He was screaming at the refs for a good minute because Lucic and someone else for the Bruins were sent to the dressing room for less than 30 seconds left in a 5-2 game when they both got minor penalties. What was he expecting? Tampa to score twice on the 5-on-3 and then he'd be able to put Lucic out to send a message?

Where are you now, Johan Garpenlov? A lonely nation turns its eyes to you. Woo woo woo.

Ultimately they're harmless. I really liked that thing they did with throwing waffles in the air when the Leafs were in town.

Well, it was a nice run. Looking forward to the many 'trade Filppula for a bag of pucks' threads in the coming months.

Nice sentiment, but I would think the Canucks would do everything in their power to keep him - including dumping Ballard if they need to or saying goodbye to Salo. If the Canucks want to give him $4 million/year, I don't see that it makes sense to outbid that.

It was a good season. Maybe the Wings can pick up Kyle Wellwood in the off-season.

Let's go for Kopitar. At least we wouldn't have to worry about him being a distraction in the playoffs, since he doesn't play then.

Dany boy, the pipes, the pipes are calling.... 7-0 Teal.

"There's only one Pavel Dastyuk....one Pavel Datsyuk...."

7-0. Niemi makes 46 saves, delivers a baby in the second intermission, and develops a new pain-free, anesthesia-free way of getting wisdom teeth out in the first intermission.

Nice picture of Sharks defenceman Dog Murray.

Mursak (one point in 19 games) over Burt (45 points) for second line in the playoffs? Gotcha.

Was there a goal missed yesterday? (game 2)

How the hell did the zebra flapping his arms by the side of the net miss that live? -
Maybe one day, Babcock will take a team to a first round defeat after getting a 3-1 series lead and deserve the Adams.

2002: "Sedin is not English for 'Punch me, or headlock me in a scrum'. . . Nice. Still the best pickpocket in the league and a more complete player than Kesler. Twitter:

And lost their captain and starting goaltender.

Ermmm, not quite. I would guess that way less than half the teams are profitable without playoffs. This is an argument for another thread, but the salary floor causes way more harm than good for the teams that aren't doing well.

And West Vancouver will look like a war zone, with cops turning a blind eye to drug addicts lining the streets and the smell of vomit will permeate the nostrils... Oh, wait, it's like that already

Bobrovsky`s on a EL deal and can be sent down if need be. Leighton`s been through waivers before and no one took him. With all the new money they`ll get under the cap, I`m sure if they took a swing at a money goalie like Bryz or Vokoun, they`d send Leighton to the AHL - there`s $1 million for Bryz-Vokoun right there - and maybe give Boucher a backup job for roughly what he`s getting this year. Remember Boucher hasn`t had a legit starter`s job since before the lockout. Cap goes up 4-5 million, there`s your Bryz-Vokoun money. The only extension they have to worry about potentially hurting them financially this off-season is Leino, but to help take care of that they could also save $2 million by telling Zherdev where he can go.
