Bertuzzi Suspension Prediction/ No Suspension Per League

One game, max. Emmerton, ya say? -

Cooke just got 14-17 games. Don't think the NHL has to worry about him for awhile.

How pissed would the mods be if about 30 of us each did our own game day thread one night like that? They can't ban 30 of us, can they?
-
Things went to s*** when the Wings didn't re-sign Jiri Slegr.
-
This would be a bad way for a potential future Hall of Famer to end his career. I don't want him in the playoffs either unless he gets a couple of games in before that.
-
Carcillo would put a target on the Wings' stars for his continuous idiotic play. I'm all for grit but it's worth noting the last two times the Wings won the Cup they were dead last in fighting majors in the regular season.

A team can't play two games in a row without getting tired? I think the Pens let up for a bit, but I'd be hesitant to call it getting gassed out. I don't think they'd use that excuse. They lost their focus when Holmstrom started getting under their skin.

Blocking shots is a tough, underappreciated skill. I'm glad he did it; he seems to be no worse for wear and I'm glad he started doing this again. Hopefully the poster above you learns to type in English.

It's a perversion of justice if he plays Monday. Which means I wouldn't be 100 per cent surprised if he did.

Include the official Mike Babcock drinking game. From Facebook: The Mike Babcock Drinking game is quite simple. Every time his name is said, you must say "Babcock" and take a drink (in your best Canadian accent of course). If he is shown on TV, then you must say "Babcock" and drink two drinks. If there is an interview with him, then you must drink for the entire time Mike is speaking. *Please remember to have a back up beer ready, as some interviews can run longer than one beer.

If there is no suspension, you will see an elbow of epic proportions from Ott to Heatley/Dog Murray/whomever when the teams next play (March 31). Ultimately, that can't be a bad thing for the Wings if two of the top eight teams take each other's players out with cheapshots. Seriously, though, Heatley couldn't have picked a worse time to pull this little stunt. The GMs are at meetings right now with the primary discussion being about headshots. Did he really think that going well out of his way to elbow Ott was going to be the kind of thing that would fly under the radar?

Hey, Mario, I have a suggestion since all of a sudden you're so concerned about player safety. Since eight per cent of the concussions in the league this year have been caused by fights, how about we make it so that an instigator penalty in the last minute of a Stanley Cup final game is an automatic one game suspension, no matter how many points that player has in the regular season? I'll hang up and listen. In all honesty, I like the suggestion. Teams should be accountable for the actions of the players they put on the ice. But I hope Mario is just as committed the next three times Matt Cooke gets suspended, if this system is ever enacted.

What makes their brand look worse is when half the people I know who have flown AC have their luggage end up somewhere other than their destination.
-
That's kinda dumb, even for a hockey player on Twitter. He'll be magically healthy the day the playoffs start. POOF! His post-concussion syndrome will be cured the day they need to win games.

Seabrook extended for 5 years at $5.8 million per year
mjlegend replied to Drake_Marcus's topic in General
11 guys is a lot of guys. I'll believe a $62.5 million cap when I see it. Seabrook's a great player, but until the massive contracts to Hossa and Campbell go out the door, he'll never be surrounded by a great surrounding cast on D other than Keith. -
Only one suspension in his career so far, and also one automatic instigator penalty taken away in last year's playoffs. Chara gets off with a warning, Pacioretty will be lucky to get out of this without a serious neck injury. This is why in games the league knows will be intense, hard-hitting and borderline dirty, they should put a "Pierre McGuire buffer zone" between the benches, so if this hit happens again, McGuire the only one hurt.
-
You're better than the strawman argument. Crosby has to know the hit is coming a half-second after he dishes the puck and stays against the boards, but for some reason, one time out of a thousand when he plays it right, he forgets and someone taller than him hits him. He's playing the puck in the offensive zone and turns his numbers to look at his pass. Not a dirty play. Even Campbell knows if you suspend Hedman for that hit, you suspend 500 guys a year. The fact that Crosby was playing woozy only a couple of days after Steckel collided with him at the WC led more to that concussion than anything allegedly dirty done by Hedman. In isolation, the Gillies hit on Clutterbuck was not a ten-game suspension. For the dangerousness aspect, the Cooke hit on Tyutin was much worse than this. The fact it was Gillies' his first game back after the Tangradi hit made it a more easily suspendable hit. You can be assured that no matter how many concussions there are int he league, Matt Cooke will still be getting piddly little suspensions for frequent, pointless dangerous play long after Gillies is back in the ECHL.

They stopped doing that when they gave that big goofy doofus the C after Blake retired. Capgeek says they'll have under $9 million to fill 9 spots next year, including the 3-4 defence pair. Good luck with that.

Howie = the new Ozzie. Even when he wins, he loses.

2011 NHL Trade Deadline Thread - February 28th, 3:00 PM ET

Can't agree. Reeks of desparation. Steckel's an overpayment for Arnott alone. They lose 8 years and give up one of the best faceoff men, and on top of that give up a second round pick for a 36-year-old wih 2 points in his last 14 games (on a team that's been hot during this period). Gotta think if the Caps don't go all the way to the final, Boudreau and McPhee are out and a rebuilding plan starts. -

So much for the idea the Canucks desperately needed a defenceman. -
