Can't wait to find out what he's leading them to. Cooke: "So kid, next time you're in that situation where a guy is too fast for you, stick your knee out and try to end his career. Oh, and if his back is to you and he's in a vulnerable position near the boards - with or without the puck - hammer him anyway. Try to separate his shoulder. It really helps if you jump into him."
-
You might be waiting a little longer to see his first good defensive play.

4-1 Wings. Wings go 2-for-6 on the power play and pop a couple early to establish a good lead. I look for two goals from Zetterberg and a good pk game from Draper and Helm.

2011 NHL Trade Deadline Thread - February 28th, 3:00 PM ET

Penguins get Kovalev for a conditional low (6th or 7th round) pick. Pittsburgh facepalm. Where was this desire to get a useful winger when Crosby needed one? Shuffling in a couple of high-priced rentals didn't work last year. -

Today's waiver wire: Rivet, Svatos, Colliton, Zherdev. Kotalik on recall waivers. Rivet is a $3.5 million cap hit with just this year left. Vancouver? -
Lolz. No, because I said I hoped I was wrong. I really get the feeling they're going to lose this one or the Dallas game. Sharks are on a roll on the road and have already won in JLA this year. Fool me once, shame on me. Fool me twice, uh, you don't get fooled again.

4-3 Sharks. The Wings have won too many games recently by the seats of their pants and are overdue for a let down. Hope I'm wrong. I don't get a good feeling when the Wings play them, especially reading a preview of the Sharks playoff run last year here: San Jose Sharks 2010 playoff gameplan

St. Louis appears to be in a selling mood and Ty Conklin is only a $1.3 million cap hit. Just saying...

Brayden Schenn has 34 points in 15 games with Saskatoon. No way Penner commands that kind of price tag, especially considering any team in the league could have had him for a song only 18 months ago. Clifford, though, is an interesting possibility, although the Oilers need a young goaltender/defenceman with top two potential more than they need another u-21 top six forward. Maybe: Penner, 3rd pick 2011 for Clifford, Teubert, 1st round pick 2011.

How many Save the Coyotes campaigns has Bettman/Daly fought for? They've actively sought for ownership groups for that market for five years and it hasn't gotten them anywhere. Why wouldn't he want to hunker down for another Save the Oilers campaign? He's got to be used to it by now. We heard so many times during the lockout that it was about cost certainty and some of the small market Canadian teams wanted to know how much the cost of business was going to be, blah blah blah. Have we seriously gotten to the point where a nearly-40-year-old building that housed five Stanley Cup winners, and located in the middle of oil country is all of a sudden an inadequate revenue generator?
-
He's lost a step or two, so it'll probably take him about a week to go through waivers.
-
Even watching him in junior, I never got the feeling I was watching an elite defenceman. I hope for Steve's sake the change of scenery does Brewer some good and he can play like it's 2002.
-
Was there alcohol involved? "Well, I'll only do that trade if you throw in McClement! (hic!)" Otherwise, this trade has EA Sports-type logic.

Me three. But in three years look for: Phoenix-Dallas at the Jerry Jones Billion $ Stadium. Good luck getting a ticket to that.

Avs send G Craig Anderson to Ottawa for G Brian Elliott
mjlegend replied to HockeytownRules19's topic in General
Makes some sense if the Avs want to get a big name goaltender in the summer. Elliott as a backup, Vokoun/Miller as starter... Yes, I'm stretching. Still, they should have been able to get a pick out of Ottawa as well as Elliott, unless Anderson's off-ice issues are at a Tootoo-ish level of seriousness. -
Can't wait for Burke's press conference today to confirm that this still isn't a rebuild and they fully expect to make the playoffs this year.
-
Up until a couple of weeks ago, I was ready to part with him. Now that he's found a line he fit in so well with, it seems silly.
-
He's a unique player who is alone in his market. I mean, who really compares to a giant defenceman who also scores 40 points his first full year on the blueline, and can also play in front of the net on the power play? Good for him and his agent. Bad for Zach Bogosian and trying to fit him under the cap. I think he'd prefer to take them all out to dinner individually. Possibly on the same night.

According to @DarrenDreger this morning: Leafs have acquired Aaron Voros from Ana (Syrcasue) for a conditional 7th round pick. Cue the "Kenny, why didn't we do this?" reaction...
-
So he's trading a conditional 7th rounder to toughen up the Marlies? Who does that?
-
Last year, and even a couple of months ago, I'd have agreed with you. But he's a -7 since his NYE hat trick (16 games), is throwing only a hit a game and isn't blocking shots anymore either. I like him as an energy guy at $750,000, but I'm not sure he's the right fit next year when he wants something more.
-
Bleed all over him! Let him know you're there!

Why can't it be Mursak/Emmerton over Eaves? 14 forwards next year, rotate the bottom five: Dats-Z-Franz Flip-Hud-Clear Bert-Homer-Helm Draper-Abby-Miller Mursak-Emmerton Seven d Lids(please)-Kron Raf-Ericsson Stu-Kindl-Smith No real cap issues with this team, yet still decent depth for forward injuries...

If he's serious, Lemieux's ownership stake has to easily be worth in the tens of millions of dollars. He could have walked away quietly instead of pulling this whole drama queen act, but regardless. . . I support him if he has a desire to found his own hockey league with his money, his rules, whatever, and if he honestly believes he can do better. He might, who knows? He can take 87 with him.
