Yeah, Hmmm. How would he have picked up a neck injury/headaches in a hit like the one from Lucic? Is a professional, high-level athlete fighting tooth and nail for the playoffs going to fake something for seven games because he wants someone suspended? He had headaches and an extremely sore neck. From the Lucic hit. Only seven months after concussions kept him from games late last year. He missed seven games with these symptoms because he needed to grow a pair?

"... and that country's refusal to accept him, well..."

Yzerman Conference: Detroit, Chicago, San Jose, Pittsburgh, Toronto, Colorado Stephane Richer Conference: Everyone else. Done! Next?

Yeah, concussions are for *******!

Ferraro doesn't have the defensive prowess to compare to Helm. Considering we had the pick in 2009 that eventually got Carter Ashton (13 goals for Norfolk this year, compared to four for Ferraro in GR), I'd say trading down a sniper from the late first round (Ferraro and Nestrasil for Ashton) to get a third-liner will probably end up being a mistake.

Er, Franzen doesn't exactly disappear in the playoffs. I agree with you on a lot of this, but Bobby Ryan's inconsistency is what has brought up all the rumours to begin with. Even last year, he had a five-game pointless drought where Franzen's longest drought was four. Ryan this year has already had two four-game pointless slumps and a three gamer, while Franzen had a six-gamer, but nothing else over two. Last year, Franzen had a six-game point streak and a five, while Ryan had two fives and a four. This year, Franzen has three four-game streaks already while Ryan has only had a three.

If they do get a guy like that for the playoff stretch, you'd have to think Emmerton would be the odd man out roster-wise. However, it seems to be running against Holland's line of thinking to pick up a player of that ilk so much that he can't possibly be thinking of getting one. I'm hoping they call up Callahan for a few games this year because that just might end up providing the kind of spark you need some nights.

Fine, but if St. Louis gets him for pennies on the dollar and ends up winning the division, I'm holding all of you responsible, LGW.

I don't see it but they both certainly played with an Edge.

Four playoff appearances in 14 years. He's a nice guy and all, but ...

When you find out, let Doug Wilson know.

@kausatoday Kevin Allen Detroit's Patrick Eaves suffered a fractured jaw when hit by a puck. He's at the hospital and will be examined to see if surgery is needed.

Oh, hi there Chicago (temporarily at least).

Let's take a step back for a minute. Things might not be as they appear http://penguins.nhl.com/ Clearly, they're welcoming back Sid (Your Show of Shows) Caesar from retirement. Hello, coach Calhoun! One of Ken Hitchcock's henchmen will make him bleed Wednesday. Chris Stewart, do your job.

I said 'good luck.' I'd sooner try Brunnstrom or Nyquist than a guy with one point in nine games, but hey, whatever floats your boat. Also, there were a few dozen other Eaves threads you've started over the past year you could have put this request in. . .

He's more likely to star in a remake of West Side Story, but good luck with the effort dude.

I'm almost hoping another one of the defencemen not named Lidstrom or Kronwall gets hurt for a few weeks so we can see more of what Commodore can bring. Because that's pretty much what it's going to take to see him more consistently in the lineup.

It was still a 2-1 game the Flyers lost. I would say they still need some work on trying to break it. I mean, there's waiting for an opportunity and wasting a minute of game time while you try to make an argument. It reminded me of Monty Python's Greece-Germany philosopher's soccer game:

"You call that a meltdown???" Uncle Lyndon Byers.

The rulebook doesn't allow goaltenders to be hit. Period, full stop. Inna da crease, outta da crease, doesn't matter. Lucic made full body contact with a netminder, and I don't know what the new precedent is, but concussing a goaltender on a hit should get SOMETHING.
-
With the loss of a right handed shot, you'd think it calls for at least a couple games with Commodore.
-
Wonder what the reaction here would be if Howard was run like that?
-
This team needs Dustin Penner's compete level like it needs a hole in the head. I'm not the biggest Stuart fan but send him away if and only if he gets a quality defenceman back in return.

Been a while since we could say "Dallas will be a good test." But, Dallas will be a good test. Benn, Lehtonen and Eriksson have quietly started breakout seasons.
