Kim Johnsson, John Madden and maybe they can hide Crystal Ball Huet. And they still have to ink Hjalmarsson, Hendry and Niemi. They are still in cap hell, with over a third of their roster already turned over.

If the Kings included Jack Johnson in a trade to get Kaberle, they are officially really really stupid.

Lindsey Lohan and Steve Howe.

Moore is a former Leaf.

Foster is getting $1.8 million to be in the Oilers' top four. We won't be paying our #6 guy $1.8 million.

Any chance Stan Bowman has spent most of the last 48 hours weeping?

Here's the Hawks not losing anybody from the Cup run again: Darren Dreger DarrenDreger Thrashers trading for Andrew Ladd...says a source

Kevin Allen kausatoday Chris Mason is Atlanta's new No. 1 goalie, signing a two-year deal with yearly salaries of $1.6 and $2.1 million.

Phone call, Willie Mitchell to agent: Mitchell: Alright, I'm ready to sort through all the offers I'm getting. Who's the first one? Agent: Uhhh.... Do you know where Omsk is? Very nice city in Russia. Weather very much like Tampa Bay in the summer. Dostoyevsky lived there while he was in prison. Anyway, they're offering you 4 million rubles and 16 goats. Over three years. Mitchell: The KHL isn't really my bag, I want to win a Stanley Cup. Anybody else? Agent: No that was it, and I made it up. It's fictional. This is the third time you've called today, Willie, and I have other clients. I'll contact you when I get an offer. OKTHANXBYE!

Interested to see who's coming back to Edmonton in that trade. Voros? Gilroy?
-
True. Look at all the NTC's that are going to come back to bite him (Stajan, Bourque, Langkow, Boumeester, Regehr, etc). White will get one I'm sure. Does this make Calagry have their own version of the "Muskoka Five". Maybe the "Banff Six?"

If Vancouver doesn't get Hamhuis, I'd change that to "All of the Canadian based teams..."
-
Speaking of teams that have no cap room: Ottawa's Bruce Garrioch: SunGarrioch Olli Jokinen close to signing with the Flames. Working on a two-year deal.
-
I tend to agree, but the worst deal of the day that is still upcoming is the Kovalchuk deal. Some sun belt team will pay him $60-$70 mil/8 years to be the next Alexei Yashin.
-
Bob McKenzie: Ray Whitney is done in PHX for two years at $3M per year.
-
I think the biggest thing we'll take from this day is that the Derek Boogaard deal will go down as one of the worst in history. $6.5 million/four years. I still can't believe it.

Capgeek says they have $2.25 million to sign three players, even using Ben Lovejoy's $525,000/year contract as the sixth defenceman. They only have room left to get wingers in the Max Talbot mold. http://www.capgeek.com/charts.php?Team=26

From G&M's James Mirtle on twitter: mirtle A source on Colby Armstrong: "For a guy with a reputation for being a big hitter he just doesn’t hit." Note to players: A couple of big bangs on Youtube adds about $1/year to your next multiyear contract.

Unless either of those guys can play wing with Crosby, those guys combined really fill that much of a need for the Penguins. One guy, yeah you can justify that but all of a sudden they look ultra thin on the wing for the next few years now that they've committed all this money to D.

Oilers Place Nilsson, Moreau, and O'Sullivan on Waivers
mjlegend replied to stevie12's topic in General
Heh. You know you're in Canada when the number one trending thing on Twitter is "Ethan Moreau", then second is "Harry Potter". Vandermeer is an Alberta-born version of Steve Staios, who they dumped on Calgary at the deadline. He certainly wouldn't have been the cheapest guy available ($2.3 million) for the Wings' #6 D position. -

A non-embarrassing season by Drouin-Deslaurier and they could easily be the 2012-13 version of this year's Chicago Blackhawks. Great move getting rid of some of the guys who dragged them down with horrid, selfish and inefficient play. Now, they need to find a place for sulky Souray. EDIT: They may not have to pay for Piece Of s***, either: From twitter: Real_ESPNLeBrun Am told by a source Patrick O'Sullivan also not bought out by Oilers because he was traded to Phoenix for Vandermeer. Checking into it Rumor has it, it's for Jim Vandermeer. -
Boyd is a great pickup for Montreal if they can sign him.
-
You mean the "I'm bitter about being left out of the HOF for Dino Ciccarelli so I'm going to take it out on the nearest former North Star" angle?
-
Honest question here: when Phoenix buys out a guy, are they doing it to clear cap room?
-
My prediction is that the Wings will get an AHL-level midheavy fighter or two for camp and then, like Kenny actually said, fit them in if they fit in. That, to me, doesn't include the guy with two girl names who wants a million and a half.
