No, I think he means this one, Chelsea Dagger:
-
OK, but I wonder how he's going to like the concept of retiring as a Thrasher. Might there be another year for him?
-
I don't know that we're in a position to add any C-level free agent forwards like Ladd. I think the next Patrick Eaves might be the ceiling if we do add a forward or two, simply becssue we're going to either have to replace Lidstrom on the blueline with a decent D man or we'll have Lidstrom at a slightly reduced short term contract... and have no cap room anyway. I'm simply basing this opinion on what the Matt Stajans and Rene Bourques have been getting in terms of extensions. If these guys are in the $3.5 to $4 million range for four or five years, Ladd is certainly not all that far behind those guys. Maybe $2.5 to $2.7 million for three to five? Anyway, I don't think we're adding a 15 to 20-goal scorer unless there's other organizational changes made.

I give you Ulf Samuelsson and Ken Linseman. Neither of those guy were afraid to viciously hurt players pre-instigator rule. Some of these guys went after knees to end careers, which was the style back in the day. You'd say "Give me two knees for a quarter." Anyway, all of those players wore out their welcomes from several teams because they wouldn't finish what they started in the pre-instigator era.

Reward offered for return of Crosby's Olympic gear

Why is the IIHF Hall of Fame in Leningrad? -
How about we try to keep some lines together for more than a couple of games to develop chemistry? IMO Helm is great in his current role, Would he be better served with 18-20 mins a game? I'm not sure.
-
The instigator rule has nothing to do with there being more collisions like this. Not a thing. Nothing. Zero. Don Cherry made a second living out of promoting videos with big, borderline illegal hits long before the instigator rule was enforced. If, as it appears happened, Cooke really wanted to take out Marc Savard, nothing would have stopped him.

Am I the only one who wants to see a three point game tonight (two for Wings, of course) to put more heat on Nashville? I think a Calgary - San Jose matchup in the first round would be awesomesauce, where Nashville probably falls quietly to the Sharks (or Hawks) in five.

If there's a jockstrap that's been found it might be Rafalski's. -
The best part is: if the Wings beat one of them, they probably get to see two of them. Or even all three by the time the WC final comes. The team I would choose wears teal and used to play in the Cow Palace.

Blindside hit to the head, close enough to an elbow for my liking. Five games. In my NHL, if Cooke does it again, 25 games. A third time and it's a life suspension. I'm all for clean hits to the chest and torso but hits to the head like this have ended guys' careers. I can think of no greater message to send than to really go hard on Cooke for this hit (given the GM's meetings are going on right now), but I suspect he'll get a swat on the wrist from Campbell. BTW if everyone kept their heads on a swivel like Kypreos and Messier want, there wouldn't be any shots on goal and it would be a game akin to roller derby, where people just line up and run into each other. With worse television ratings.

Then how come Dave Nonis hasn't tampered with it yet? Glad to have this forum up in whatever format it currently is.

Darryl Sutter is not a good general manager. I don't know where people have picked this up. The Flames are 10th in the NHL currently, with an overworked goaltender, a wildly inconsistent captain and in the last month, he's just traded for a quarter of one of the worst teams in hockey (the Leafs). He's made the Cup final ONCE in 15 years as a GM. He has had one other time where his team made it to the conference final. That's it. If you want a general manager who makes big trades but neveral really goes anywhere, Sutter's your man. But he has nothing in his pedigree that even touches Ken Holland's general managerial jockstrap. -

You know him, or are of Greek heritage? -
The Penguins sucked for three years and were able to draft a better unicorn. Just sayin'.

Don't expect much from the Wings during Trade Deadline

Toronto would be better off with Poni unless the pick's a first rounder. Let's not overstate Bert's trade value. -

I would have liked to use him in a package to get Ryan Smyth, but apart from that I always felt the Quincey disaster was Quincey's own making. I think we'll be eventually OK with it when somebody stupid like Columbus gives him the unmovable $4.5 million/yr contract for six years... and he predictably tanks. -

Eklund is saying the Flyers are close to getting Roloson. -
Bad coach? I'd go so far as to say he's probably the worst coach to ever win a Stanley Cup and an Olympic gold medal within two years EVER.

And John Ferguson Jr isn't anyone's GM this time. Flyers? -
Damn straight! Eat it, world!

There will be no NHLers in Sochi if Gary Butthurt has his way. This is the last chance to see the best of the best in international play until the next World Cup., whenever that is.

Tell the rest of the world to stop sucking at hockey and we won't be so damn arrogant.

We didn't just win in the made-up sports. Men's and women's hockey, curling, long track speed skating, short track speed skating, figure skating, women's two-person boblsed, men's skeleton, as well as snowboarding and he freestyle skiing. A lot of different skills and sports involved. Hopefully, the athletes don't get their funding cut by the Cdn government. On to Sochi.
