Good yes. This is the time to recognize greatness or steady play over a decade, not being "really good for bad and/or overmatched teams."

In retrospect, they never stood a chance against prettyboys like Craig Simpson and Stephane Richer. I'm calling a huge win from Sergei Fedorov in the 2016 version of the show. I don't know that it gets more embarrassing than the Graham James fiasco, but the Mike Danton one came closest. Coaches and agents molesting and mind-controlling teenage boys? I have a hard time thinking anything could paint junior hockey in a worse light.

I guess it's safe now to whip out all the Roberto Clemente plane crash jokes I've been saving.

Generally, the EPL and most European soccer leagues are a failure from a competitive standpoint, even with a couple of decades of jersey sponsorship. As a consumer who is well aware of what products are available, can I have SOMETHING that doesn't have advertising plastered all over it? What's next, doctors and surgeons with giant Pfizer ads on their scrubs and gloves? Remember the furor when Grant Fuhr wanted Coke on his pads? OK, that might not have been a Coca Cola advertisement, that may have been something else, so never mind...

OTOH, maybe we'll be finally able to get Raj Narwhal under the cap. His second contract is going to be a killer.

The NHL doesn't give a s*** about revenue sharing, and the NHL gives even less of a s*** about the Wings and other rich teams getting a bigger payroll.

Meh. Just a couple of soft Euros.

YEAH!!!!! GET RID OF HIM!!!! Wait, why?

If Newbury plays for the Detroit Red Wings in the 2009-10 NHL playoffs, we're in huge fricking trouble.

Can "Robert Lang" be my answer?

I watched Boychuk play for a couple of years in Moose Jaw and he was laying out guys like this at least once a week. One time he nailed a guy against Swift Current in overtime and popped his helmet up 10 feet in the air. Glad he got his chance in the NHL, because he's got a hell of a shot from the blueline too. Not too accurate, but it's got to be around 100 mph.

Bettman confirms wanting two winter classics next year

I got an idea! Regina, and get the Saskatoon Coyotes to play the Colorado Nordiques. You could put 30k at Taylor Field for a one-off game. -
My 34 games Jack Adams ballot: 1) Dave Tippett 2) Terry Murray 3) Babs

The first octopus on the ice in the playoffs this year ought to have five legs or something... The soon to be ECHL-heavy Griffins would also probably like to know when they can get some relief...

Defense is great to have as a backup, but we're going to need to replace Hank's point per game pace somewhere and it likely won't be Helm or Draper. That second line centre needs IMO to be a good (prorated) 40-45 point threat or else he threatens to drag down the entire line. If Hank's gone for a couple of months, I want a trade.

Isn't Emmerton on IR? Nevermind. 13 points isn't really all that good.

I'm a Canadian and I disagree. I'd be really happy if he got some Achilles heel injury that ended his usefulness on the ice.

Bettman says next years cap likely similar to this years

Not in my world - I'd love that. Due to the high amount of money-losing teams, however, I get ths suspicion the NHL is going to ask for some serious concessions from the PA at the next CBA, so I expect the cap to go down for 2011-12 anyway. I know this is a bit fo an oversimplification, but to expect the Red Wings and Coyotes to pay the players on their team the same amount when one team's gate and overall revenue is exponentially higher than the other is simply not a good business practice if you really want a level playing field. -
Shoudl we take back McLellan as an assistant when San Jose fires him in the middle of next year, or do we go for Ken Hitchcock?

I love you, but the Canadians are going to bake Tatar in a lemon bar and eat him.

Travis Hamonic rocks my world.

He's the 18th best skater on the Wings each game he plays. That right thurr puts him behind the eight ball. He'd be the #3 d-men on Carolina, if that makes you feel better.
