Last time the Wings promoted an assistant it didn't turn out too well. . .
-
Paajarvi is really struggling this year. If they want another mentor, maybe they can take Hudler. . . .
-
Sure, if we have no ambitions to win the Cup, we might as well call up the goons.

I'd still play around with lighting a fire under a key veteran like Datsyuk or Zetts or Bert by making them a healthy scratch before I'd make a trade. The talent is there; the finish is missing. A trade says 'You're done here and I don't believe in you.' A healthy scratch is a warning shot a foot over the player's head.

Two and five for MacDonald for throwing a punch, missing and falling on his butt.
-
That would mean we had Kyle Wellwood on the team.

If they didn't make a big trade/signing over the summer, they won't do it at 5-2 in seven games. Friday's important though; it could be the difference between keeping up with the HAWKS SUCK pace, or falling into the middle of the conference. I know it's early but 17 of the 19 guys who played last night also played for the Wings last year; can't use the 'just getting used to each other' excuse. This is where Jimmy comes in on his white horse and shuts the door on the Sharks and Wild and makes us forget about these two losses.

Phew: "Doctors report he'll be healthy and throwing game pucks in the garbage in no time."

COngrats to Jimmy and Rachel. Good job to plan the birth for a weaker part of the schedule. The Howards' are thinking ahead! Meh. You could probably count all of Mindfly's kids on zero fingers.

You guys don't think Booth is just one concussion away from turning into Marc Savard? Six more years on Booth's mega-deal, plus an NTC coming next year IIRC. IMO, the Canucks are putting an awful lot of eggs into the Chris Higgins basket and I don't know that that has ever worked out for anyone. Samuelsson is a guy that, for the right price, I wouldn't mind having back with the Wings in case of an injury to the top 6 down the stretch.

That was one hell of a 100th game, Fabian Brunnstrom. #Iknowitwasntallhisfault

Neal's a high end player with lots of individual skill but really, really streaky. Last year, in 30 games from Jan. 26 to the end of the season, he scored two goals and six assists, and followed that up with a total of one goal and one assist in seven playoff games. He also went 5-7-12 in the first twelve games last year. Do we call him Mr. October?

This had better be a pillar-to-post pounding, or questions of doubt will start to creep in. Who wants to be the first team to lose to the BJs? Nine games Crosby didn't play in. Anyway, not playing for a week and then playing back to back nights seems to be what the NHL has wanted this year. Reminiscent of college?

Umberger and Vermette combined for 104 points last year, and have one point combined in their ten games total. They're sending down the kids (Atkinson, Calvert) but it looks like some vets might not be buying in to Arniel this year.

He's part of the rotation of fourth-liners and he's $1.2 million on the cap for the next three years. I saw the last 40 minutes last night and I didn't see him do anything a good fourth liner can't do. He's not the irreplacable central cog some have been making him out to be for the last year. The team is 4-0 and looked fresh in the last period and OT, so they are doing something right with the layers they use. I like him and I think he's useful most of the time, but I just don't get the man-crush. The Wings haven't had a lot of power plays in his games, so it's almost a moot point. With the Wings only getting seven power plays in the two games he's played, I'd rather see the guys that have been on the PP for the last ten years (Lids, Dats, Homer, Z, etc) get that time. I also think he's a much better PK player than on the PP, as his shot isn't the most accurate and his ability to deflect the puck from in front hasn't been tested or utilized.

Bad move by Beagle to get involved with a much more experienced fighter. I don't know that Asham would ever have signed with the Wings; he seems comfortable trying to play with every Atlantic Division team he can get on. Plus, the Wings don't have room for him since they got Miller and Eaves. At $775,000 for one year, he makes $60,000 less than Miller and $425,000 less than healthy scratch Patrick Eaves. It's hard to argue with the Wings' last two games (3-0 and 2-0), but it's also easy to see that Asham has the combination of skill and pugnacity that could add an element that we tend to lack at times.

Roenick's going to be pissed Sidney's in the news again.
-
That turned out pretty well for their playoff runs.

ALCS? NLCS? Ohio State? MNF? Pretty sad when Columbus can't sell out on Columbus Day.
-
Kobasew is on their first line? They must be trying to tank already. . . Wings win 5-1 (Z, Franz, Helm, Bert and Lids)
-
If Nystrom was playing, the Wings would have won 4-0.
-
James Reimer is having an awesome year.
-
We've all agreed that Drew Miller is the whipping boy this year? Cause I'm cool with that, I just wanna know. I would hope there are better options this year when we have injured forwards rather than Miller on the top three lines.
-
$1.1 million seems steep for most 'depth guys'. Maybe they hope he develops chemistry with a Kadri or Lombardi or someone. The Leafs are pretty close to the cap already without being a probable playoff team, so they may be looking to dump someone off themselves. IMO they need Boyce/Crabb more than Rosehill on the roster anyway but it's not my team.

Didn't some people here want us to sign Winchester?
