If there is any athlete that can play in the NHL in his late 40s, it's Chelly. Not being able to regularly crack the 2007-09 Red Wings defence is not necessarily a sign of a bad defenceman, right Kyle Quincey?
-
If it doesn't work for, say, three games, can we still send him down to GR without exposing him? Not that I know who could replace him from GR...

http://twitter.com/TSNBobMcKenzie Healthy scratch this season, but I always thought he had a lot more to offer than most teams were able to get out of him. With a lot of forwards either underpeforming or not gritty enough, do we want to give him a look? Feel free to shoot it down. I think I'm getting desperate.

It's Bob McKenzie, though. He knows his s***. I wouldn't even think of posting or taking very seriously an Eklund rumor from Twitter.

I see your points about MacInnis. It's an argument, at least. Leetch also did way more for US hockey than MacInnis could ever do for Canadian/PEI/Maritime hockey. Leetch's '94 was better than MacInnis' '89 Scary thought is that MacInnis might have played another couple of years after the lockout if he didn't get that eye injury. No doubt Al would have climbed well over 1,300 points.

Leetch = 2 Norris, two first team all-stars MacInnis = 1 Norris, three first-team all-stars They each won a Conn Smythe in their only Finals appearance. Pretty even when they were at their peak. I'll take Leetch's leadership ability as captain of the US '96 World Cup team, and I always felt he was a much better leader for the Rangers after Messier left in '97. Unless I'm trying to win a slapshot competition, I'd take Leetch over MacInnis.
-
True that.

Good one... hmm.... Yzerman > Messier Leetch >>> MacInnis Hull < Stevens Robitalle << Francis I'm slightly conflicted, but a good tiebreaker for me would be Lou Lamoriello >> Jim Gregory.

Randy Moller? "My car just hit a waterbuffalo!!!"

Uwe Krupp. Although a friend of mine told me he was skating and looks to be coming back sometime later this month.

Wings D has let the opposition shoot 34 and 29 shots on goal the previouus two games. Their goal has always been to be more along the 20-25 range, and letting 29-34 is in a pretty dangerous thing to do for most teams, particularly the Sharks. If they let Kessel fire 10 pucks on net Saturday like Tampa did, they're not doing their job. I love Ozzie but I want to give him a few more great starts before I'd determine if he's truly back in form or not.

Oh, and my favorite part of Weekes' career was last year was when he was outplayed by Scott Clemmensen when Brodeur went down. Lolzenheimer!
-
I lol'ed. Weekes is weak at what he does, but he is only a few months removed from playing. Not a very smart thing to say.

I knew the Kings would be better this season, but they're really suprising me with how consistent they've been. Everyone's Favorite Player now has exactly 16 points in 16 games this year. As fatigued as some of the Wings are after two straight Cup final appearances, this kid's going to be exhausted by the time the Olympics roll around, let alone the playoffs.

That depends on the league's definition of 'Automatic'
mjlegend replied to PotbellyJoe's topic in General
Thank Jeebus this rule is in place to protect the superstars like the Tanner Glass's of the league from a beatdown in a meaningless early-regular season game, and not a scrub like Hank Zetterberg in the dying seconds of a Stanley Cup final game. If the league is going to treat stars differently with respect to punishment, it should also treat them differently as victims. -
A Wings fan saying this in the pre-salary cap era would be the Webster's definition of irony. Now that it's being said, I totally agree with this. $206 million dollars can buy a nice hockey arena. Their fans can also bite my big white ass. At least their new digs have priced most of the professional thugs out of the stadium.

O'Brien ended up getting the boot for that and may end up getting suspended. Pretty dumb move by O'Brien, who's done a few dumb things in his career.

I hate that piece of music so much, I love it.

Kevin Allen from USA Today is tweeting that there is an NHL team wondering whether to sign Chelios, although nothing is imminent. http://twitter.com/kausatoday My speculation: Montreal, with Hal Gill out for a few weeks now?
-
"(Insert goaltender here) probably wants that shot back." You could say that about every single goal, Greg Millen/Craig Simpson/Marc Crawford.
-
Lehtonen it is, then. Actually, if we could pick a player, I wouldn't mind Aaron Ward, giving up Lebda and a medium pick the other way. Maybe with Bowman out of the picture he'd be willing to come back as a rental.

Thanks for reminding me how much I hate that f&&king Talbot.

Last night's crowd looked turrible. I'd be shocked if it improves anytime soon.

Do you think Crosby fights back if it's, say, Komisarek or Beauchemin slew-footing him? Doubt it. He quickly knew he was taking on someone he could handle.
